Wasn't meant as a troll post. Guess my memory is starting to go. I should have googled it first. It was WotLK til the end of WoD. I'll edit my post. But the merc mode comment still stands. Alliance begged for it during WoD and then turned to hating it later on.
Got to love how certain sociopath streamers who the author (Rokman) raids with like Venruki and CDEW are using their pet, that is only relevant due to them, to push this agenda. It's pathetic how transparent these streamers are who think the world revolves around them. They are cowards for not opening themselves up to criticism by writing the article themselves. Hate to break it to them, but their esport FAILED a decade ago and the original makers of WoW called Arena a mistake in media articles during TBC. These manipulative pieces of crap are making all streamers look bad. They gonna ask their sychophant followers to start a petition next? These selfish, horrible people care about nothing but their content. They are so self absorbed and delusional that they refuse to reroll when their job is playing WoW. They instead want people who have limited play time or jobs to reroll. They are the biggest issue and problem due to influence. If they open up transfers you think Cdew is rolling a WORTHLESS Dranei racial on his shaman? Think again. Their arena rating, that the entire world stopped caring about years ago is too important for that. Their fragile egos couldn't handle not being on top due to a racial. If they were forced to be alliance like many of us are just to get in a BG Queue with limited time? They would be asking for more common sense solutions like WOTLK racials, free transfers to alliance. If they have no reason to want to play Alliance why should anyone else other than queues, which they want to take away with mercenary mode. WOTLK Racials are also MUCH MORE RECENT than Mercenary mode and mercenary mode failed. The idea one can be considered and not the other is laughable.
-Better economy-Better Wpvp-Better Instance queue-More people overall (MORE GUILDS)-Better Racial Ability#NOCHANGE.. i mean change BG plssss
Arena partner and I are already 22 levels into an alliance re-roll after getting two non-boosted toons to 70 on Horde side Sulfuras. The only reason we went Horde in classic was because we played alliance in original. In addition to those toons, we both wasted our boosts on alts on what we thought was going to be our main server. All in all, I estimate we'll arrive at arena s1 3 weeks later than originally planned, and undergeared for it.We don't want Merc mode - that's a terrible solution. Just allow paid faction change. Or better yet, the option to consume a level 70 on your account for a level 70 boost of your choosing (including Draenei and BE)
Dear alliance,so you want to be overgeared? some of you guys rolled alliance for shorter q times? you want something in exchange for merc mode? maybe better racials?how about you get layers so you can level up easily... oh wait #nochangeswe all just want to play a game.
BGs in classic and retail should allow HvH and AvA like RBGs do. The wait times are all stupid.
Open free transfer from horde to allience - problem solve. If you do not want to reroll, everything suits you.
This is a short sighted commentary from someone who is clearly playing horde right now but did not prepare properly for arenas. 1. Retail has not had a content drop for almost a year now. 2. 80% of the Retail player base is horde. 3. Blizzard introduced paid boosts during a content drought for that demographic. 4. This expansion has arguably the most popular horde race in the game introduced - Blood Elves. 5. This exact problem happened in Classic at the launch of Phase 2 - horde were sitting upwards of 2 hour AV queues. So let’s break this all down. Blizzard let a small percentage of the player base cap their honor in less than 24 hours. They did nothing about this - they could have wiped honor at launch to remedy that situation. Blizzard did not accurately fix honor and once again gave the people who no life this game a massive advantage with flag caps during the first week of TBC launch. If you are not one of those people - it is either because you willingly procrastinated or you are not playing WoW competitively. A huge portion of the player base has not hit 70 yet or are just now hitting 70. They do not have BG gear and will be queuing arena. A large chunk of the player base are Retail players that are just looking for content to consume - 9.1 will launch at the end of this month and most od TBCs content is front loaded - they will move on and help alleviate the queues. Mercenary mode would remove one of the largest perks for the minority faction - removing incentive for new players to roll alliance and replace the old players who burn out and take a break from the game over time. It will only further the problem of people choosing horde and create new problems in iterations of the game designed around cross faction contention and interaction. With regards to the flawed argument that you need BG gear to do arenas and alliance have an advantage - all 3 brackets are 60/40 horde favored in both NA and EU. Blizzard screwed the integrity of arenas by rushing TBC launch and not double checking their work with regards to accurate honor values. The ship to have an advantage through pre arena BiS has sailed. Players with a resil set will have a gear advantage for the majority of S1. That is of course assuming they are competent players. Shortening horde queue times will not change that. Period. If you didn’t hit around 1800 - 2000 rating in the first week and want to push arenas, you have an uphill battle moving forward. All of that aside. Crying for shorter queues during the first 3 weeks of TBC launch just tells me you rushed the content and are going to burn out waiting for Black Temple. Knowing that Blizzard introduced a boost, that Retail is around 80% horde, that Retail has seen the longest content drought in the history of WoW, and that Retail is going to see new content at the end of this month it is absolutely the smart thing to do nothing about queues and wait for the player base to level off the same way it did in Classic. You are advocating for short term solutions that will negatively impact long term players. Retail seems more up your alley. Please stop trying to advocate for changes that will hurt an iteration of the game based on patience and grind rather than what Retail has become.
Blizzard designing Horde to be the better faction isn't a "community issue", it's a game issue, directly caused by Blizzard. Blaming the players for following the path of least resistance (which happens in literally every game with a large enough sample size) is stupid and shortsighted. The solutions are for Blizzard to bandaid fix this specific problem or to completely change faction balance from the ground up. Obviously the latter isn't feasible and will make everyone mad, so the former has to be done or else people will quit in droves. Pretending that reality is anything other than that is nonsensical and stupid.
It is just soo funny, how all QoL that BLizz thinks is good, is the devil and all QoL that the Elite Players want, is absolutely necessary and OK. If they'll fix this issue, they might as well fix all Racial Issues like Blood Fury, Berserking or Arcane Torrent. So it's great to have the BEST racial's for DPS, now we just need to fix the wait time for BG's and make sure the Arena Comps find some use for these DPS racial's and then there is absultely no reason anymore to even consider Alliance, except for aesthetics or emotional.
Okay, I have the perfect solution to this problem.Horde can change its faction for free, all characters, items, gold, /played etcetc will be transferred.BUT, all the characters become 1 lvl (or 20-40). It seems to me this is a fair price for making a "mistake".
that's an awful idea. possibly one of the worst ever had.
