Every single kill of a Scourge Invasion rare spawn tonight (roughly 12) dropped an epic quality set of legs. The only rare spawns I've seen though were Bone Witches (uses arcane missles and melee) and Lumbering Horror (pure melee). Both are extremely easy to solo, but be warry if you happen to get aggro from one of these while fighting the trash or Shadows of Doom.

All rare elites for this event drop any of the pairs of pants.
although it seems the plate pants have a small percentage to drop.

I can confirm that the drop rate on these is ridiculously low.

I spent the last hour grinding for this (thankfully there was no one else about), and they finally dropped for me almost exactly 60mins after I started. Not before I got 8 cloth legs, 3 mail legs and 4 leather legs though!

I guess i got lucky cuz i killed the horror twice and the leathe pants the first and plate pants second... solo'd both times... was great!

I can confirm that these pants have a horrible droprate.

I killed 21 different rares, 8 Abomination-type ones (Lumbering Horror?), 11 Bone Witches, and 2 of the other type (they look like white-tinged Shadows of Doom). The easiest way I found to do this was to /who the areas under scourge attack and see if there were more than 5 level 70s there. If there were, I would check the other areas. I went to the area with the least 70s. This led to a trend of flying from Burning Steppes to Stonard -> Blasted Lands again and again, until there were enough 70s there that I went to Tanaris, which had one single 70, where I killed 3 rares and got the plate drop finally.

I would say Tanaris is the best place to farm the rare elites for this item. It's the largest and furthest away from all capital cities (people tend to forget the free portal to CoT from Zephyr in the World's End Tavern). There are loads of Scourge nodes you can alternate between. Just ride to one, look for the conspicuously modeled rares, gank one if you see it, and move on.

Note that the scourge NPCs have a particularly small aggro radius, so it's very easy to tag a rare even if he's surrounded by regular scourge NPCs.

So that puts the droprate just under 1/20 or 5% for me. In all honesty, this is based solely on anecdotal evidence, and I would not be surprised if all the pants shared a 25% droprate, as seems logical.

I don't think the drop rate is low. I did 3 invasions the other day and it dropped 4 times. I had the leather drop twice. No cloth or mail. So as with anything else, it's random and relative to your experience. Across the board though the drop rate is actually high compared to any other world epics.

i got my plate legs on my warrio on first rare mob killed, than 3 cloth + 2 mail + 2 leather no more plate :)

Two "rare" spawns were up at the same time in Burning Steppes this afternoon. Got the plate leggings off the Shadow of Doom and the mail leggings off the abomination.

I can confirm these level 71's are completely soloable. My gorilla accidently aggro'd the abomination as I was clearing a lot of trash and he posed no problem.

I made a macro:

/target bone witch
/target spirit of the damned
/target lumbering horror
/cast Charge

Charge instatagged them. I stayed mounted. Got the plate pants after about 5-6 kills by myself.
