Of course hardly anybody uses the remote AH. I don't think I've seen anyone from Blizzard mention/advertise that it exists since they made it free in, like, Cata. When they recently gave the four extra backpack slots for Authenticator users, one of the devs mentioned that it wasn't particularly complicated, and they didn't know where that rumor came from. (I'm pretty sure Ghostcrawler said it on Twitter at some point.)
I made most of my gold in Legion off making the leather legendary boots and selling them, bout 1.5 million overall so far
I think I must have been one of the minority that used and will miss the remote AH. I found it very useful for when not in game, and could access both Bank and Bags from the rAH App. When just sitting not doing anything away from the computer, it was easy to just jump on and do a few Auctions. Then check back later and add or adjust them if required. So certainly helped stay on top of it a bit more. And then when I logged into the game I could actually play straight away rather then concentrate on Auctions there. So I think it's a shame that it's going. But oh well, will have to "re-think" the way to work it I guess......just was a good way to work around being "time poor" some days I felt. But I can understand if it cost too much to run to remove it. Any business would stop doing things that they losing money on...that's why they're a business,...to keep growing.I think I used to gather and use too much, so perhaps when BfA comes out, I'll need to rethink that a bit and sell it at the start and then increase professions later on. That and having too many characters and not enough time,....lol.What's that happy medium? lolAlways plenty to do and things to look forward to though. So if one thing goes away, there's always something else to help it along. At least it's never boring....and I've been around since Vanilla, so I should be better at it by now I would have thought,....lol. :) Oh well, it's fun and that's the main thing :)Happy goblin-ing to all :)
I do have a "niche" profession market to make gold in Legion that's been very lucrative for me. Even though it's not really a secret (it's been covered here before), I think it's an underutilized market, so I won't share it here, simply because I want to tap that market as long as I can. I've noticed in the last few months a lot more competition, perhaps because of goblins sharing info, or simply because more people have leveled their profs and realized good gold can be had with relatively little time invested. This has driven prices down, but not so far down that it's not worth my effort. As for the remote AH, it will impact my wife more than me. I generally use the in-game AH for most of my transactions, and supplement that with some remote AH when needed. But my wife doesn't have as much in-game time available to her, and uses the remote AH for almost all of her transactions when she is not able to sit at her pc. This is a tough blow, because she won't want to commit much of her limited in-game time to gold-generating activities, rather than the game content that we usually do together.I understand the reasoning for the removal, and think in general it will help the AH markets by reducing the number of players and amount of time those players are committing to gold-generating tasks. It's just not fun when you're the one affected.
Great write up and really enjoyed the stream. Keep up the great work Gumdrops!
The olbiterum opening quest made me a huge chunk of my gold this expansion - so many people needing the leather and mail bracers, they were selling in the 1500 plus range for an initial investment of maybe 20 percent of that on mats.
I have to say that I know the market for making nice gold and I need to start on stockpiling the materials etc since those are BoP and market is probably pretty large on most realms.
Ohh nifty, I got a blue response to a post I made on the WoW forums - I wouldn't have known without this article, as I got shortly banned after posting it for calling people complaining about the new leveling "cry babies" - apparently I hit a nerve lol. And even though I got a response, it is still disappointing that no in-game upgrades to the AH are coming. That's CRAZY PANTS.
rofl u only need about 100k to start crafting, so u expect new boosted players to pull 100k out of ? ive been playing for a year and the most money ive had was 30k, this is extremely unaccurate, also the addon server hop doesnt even work its been broken since 7.1
Have you ever had a secret market for gold-making? How long did it last? Did you end up sharing it, or did others discover it too?I'm not sure how much of a secret this was, if secret at all, but I made a good chunk of gold from transmuting Sorcerous Air/Fire/Water into Sorcerous Earths. The Earths were about 50g each on the server I played at the time, the others were around 20-25g. At this point I had a ton of Alchemical Catalyst that were going unused, at least 3k of them. I bought up as much of the cheaper elements as I could and transmuted them into Earths. This gave me a solid flow of gold for a few weeks, however I think others started to catch on at that point. The prices of the Earths started to equalize with the other elements, and there were other sellers consistently selling the Earths.Although it wasn't extremely clever, it was my first goblin moment. It was nice having that market cornered, even if for a short period of time.
