Ironspine, and the other rare elites associated with SM Graveyard are tricky to get to spawn. While they CAN be there for the initial spawn, it seems very unlikely that they will be.

The three rare elites are:

You can easily run through the instance to the graveyard to see if they are there and if not, reset. However, there is another way to cause them to respawn. There are several spawn points in the graveyard where the elites can spawn, basically anywhere you see a SINGLE undead rather than a group, an elite has a chance to spawn there.

To get them to spawn, simply kill every isolated undead mob, you can leave the groups of wanderers. These mobs will respawn every 10-15 minutes, and it appears that every respawn has about a 5% chance of being one of the rare elites.

From what I can tell, after either Ironspine or the Fallen Champion spawn, no more rare elites will spawn. That means you'll have to reset after either of them spawn.

This is easy to have popped if you are Warlock... i just entered Graveyard - summoned Eye of Kilrog - flied to the spawn location (in the house north of Statue)

If it wasnt popped, just walk out and reset.

Aswell i could solo it quite easy, the item i needed dropped 1st try so i just made Voidwalker and Soulstoned myself, also had a Healthstone ready. Then i sent pet in to get some aggro then passive pet, and ran all the way to BEHIND boss house (remember to use sacrifice on pet to avoid Daze, then i just died and SS'ed myself and then killed the boss :)

With the new level changes in 2.3 this guy is now a 32 elite with roughly 3k health. Managed to solo him as a level 30 rogue; he doesn't seem to hit that hard but casts a really nasty poison debuff, though luckily it's interruptable.

seems his loots are bop now, so far only got ring, after 4 resets got him to spawn, gonna keep trying

He is one of 3 random spawns. They spawn about 25% of the time. They are located in the courtyard.

was grinding in the graveyard for cash (which is a great spot, btw) and he was there. I assumed he was random rare spaw, got the ring, its nice :D.

He spawned in the graveyard of the Scarlet Monestary. We had to reset the dungeon about 4 or 5 times though. Got the fist on the first drop (Was the objective). He spawned in the southern crypt of the graveyard, but that's probably random.

You do know that you're agruing over a lvl 30ish item, don't you? If you have a dagger rogue doing 3000 damage in 2 sec at lvl 30, that is impressive.

Otherwise, shut the hell up and go post your options on a forum that gives a *!@#.

Found Ironspine at these spots out of 3 finds:

2x Left building.
1x At the entrance to the crypt to that section's boss.
-(go down, turn right, and bingo)

Warning:
I found that attacking Ironspine brought a lot of unwanted company... I have died one time because of the non-stop wave of zombies and ghosts. Incidently, this was the time when I found Ironspine at the back crypt

Found: 1x Mace, 2x Breast plates.

Update - just now... I got the ring.

He was patrolling between the two crypts.

I haven't seen Ironspine since my last post.

Wow he does exist. Ive been farming the SM graveyard for about a month and he finally spawned today. Dropped the chestpiece.

Ive only seen the champion about 6 times and the other guy about 3 times.

SM graveyard is THE BEST instance to get money at lvl 60 solo! I've tried other places and none compare.

Ive killed him twice both times he dropped the chest armor. Just set up a marco for /target ironspine and keep clicking it like someone above said to do.

You don't need to reset the instance, just keep farming everything in the graveyard and he will eventually spawn. It usually takes me ~1 hour of farming before he appears, and now I have the Ring and the Chestpiece. He has appeared both times after I have killed the Bloodmage in the crypt, but don't know if it is neccesary.

Level 33 priest and warrior duoed Graveyard. We just went up to the fountain, typed /target <rare spawns names>. If any were up we killed them. If not, we reset. Had all of the rare spawns down in no time.

At lvl 37 I could solo the other 2 rare's but I couldn't beat Ironspine. But I got some better weaps, some Superior Healing Pots, and leveled to 38, and he wasn't much of a problem. I got him to spawn twice in three resets - got & .

thought i had to kill a butt load of mobs to get him. he dropped the mace one, ring once, and his armor 3 times. not bad for vendors

What you do is this.

First make macros for /target for each of the rares. Enter the instance, run through it clicking all three up to the entrance to crypt. If nothing. Leave, reset instance with the all new, right click yourself and select reset instance, feature. Do that 4 times total. On the 5th time, start killing mobs in the two huts in the courtyard for awhile, maybe 30 mins or so. Not sure how many kills that will be, 2-3? If no spawn, go out reset instance and.. there you are.

You got the most out of the reset system. Not sure how long it takes for the game to give you one reset credit. Maybe 1 = 15 mins? I think you got my point anyway... or just reset it 5 times and heartstone and do something else :P

Usually, being a feral druid, I just do 5 quick resets, then head over to SFK to solo the guy uhm in the kitchen for his $%^&*in ring.

Don't bother. Unless you have obscenely good luck, you'll find him about once every 15 runs, if that.

I've run the instance with two level 30+ friends 32 times in total (tallied), a quarter of which just the Warrior and myself (35 Warrior, 34 Mage) and the rest including a Priest (level 31).

We've found Ironspine once out of all these runs. He's (allegedly) the rarest of all rare mobs in SMGY. He looks like a Skeletal Warrior, the kind you find in Scholomance or RFD, or for the Forsaken, the Agamand Mills mobs (skeletons with armor and little viking hats and swords).

We're *farming* him for his Ribcage for the Warrior friend. So far, all we've managed to get is his mace. Found Ashzir the Sleepless 5 times, and Forgotten Champion 12 times. Ironspine seems to appear very rarely, for us at least.

I can confirm that both ironspine and azshir the sleepless still exist. As of yet I have not found the fallen champion but I have no reason to believe he doesnt exist here still. Most of what has been said here is true, these are rare mobs that spawn pretty much anywhere in the courtyard of graveyard.

I've run SM GY about 25 times over the past few days, and I have seen Ironspine once, Fallen Champion 5-6 times, and Azhir zero.

even though the rare spawns didnt spawn, they can still spawn in the future. there r 6 spots where they can possibly spawn. and in order for them to respawn all 6 must be killed. they will respawn exactly 15min after the last spawn, and will all spawn at the exact same moment

Inside the two side crpyts are spawn points are 2. An other is southwest corner of the graveyard, the most southwest spawn. The crpyt that leader to under ground go down they stair and the bottom of the first flight of stairs is one spawn point(the first hallway u hit when underground). these last two r very confusing so read very closly. On the south side between the crpyt and the fence area to the east of the crypt is one spawn(within that little area is 3 spawns, kill the one most southeast within that area). On the north side Between the crpyt and the fenced of area to the west before it rises is one.(Within this area, again, are 2 spawns and another who will roam among the graveyard and is in that area ocassionally, kill the one most Northeast within that area.)

If u r confused on the spots, just remember: if u every see and Unfettered Spirit alone that is a rare spawn spot. if in a group of 3 spirits, can not be a rare spawn spot. its the guy roam among the graveyard, then he is not a rare spawn point.

Now i have been told that non of the rare spawns, spawn after ironspine or Fallen champion have spawned, so will have to reset, im not postive of that but keep it in mind.

there is bout a 5% chance of a rare spawn spawning in the specific area

I tried the above tactic, and indeed after killing the indiacted spawn points they respawned after 15minutes exactly. If you don't kill the correct ones, they will not respawn. Though for me, the rare-spawns did not pop. I'm trying it again as we speak, if it does work i will post a follow up and an explanation.
Another thing, i had a hard time reading the above post on the first try and ended up deducting the spawn points myself, so here i would like to clarify them: ( this is working counter clockwise around the cloiser )
1. Right chamber
2. To the left of this chamber, spawn group closest to the walkway.
3. Fenced area to the right of the boss chamber - spawn closest to the chamber itself
4. Inside the boss chamber, at the foot of the first set of stairs.
5. Fenced in area to the left of the boss chamber - spawn in the far corner from the chamber
6. Left chamber

hope this helps... one other note from the previous post that i found helpful was about the unfettered spirits, where you see a single one it is definately a spawn point. Though the point that any group of three is not a spawn point, this cant be true, b/c the spawn points that were described will sometimes spawn a group of three. Let me know if anyone has any luck.

Ok I've spent some time figuring out how SM GY works.

There are 6 spawn points where any of the 3 rares can spawn. Two people explained where they are above - so I wont re-explain. Read their posts.

Also I can confirm that after the Fallen Champion spawns and is killed - none of the other rares will respawn. I didnt spend enough time waiting around after I killed Ironspine to see if the same is true with him. And out of my 15 - 20 resets/respawns I never saw Azshir the Sleepless.

If you are confussed about where the 6 spawn points are - if you killed the Fallen Champion and then clear the whole instance (except for Bloodmage Thalnos) and wait around 20 minutes everything will respawn. Those mobs that do not respawn are the rare spawn points. There are 6 of them.

So to farm it - just run in and check the 6 spawn points (I used a high level druid - so i could check all 6 points in about 2 minutes). If one is there great! Otherwise you have several choices:

-Run out and reset and try again. (You can only reset the instance like 5-6 times an hour).
-Kill the mobs at the 6 spawn points, and then wait around for about 15-20 minutes. When they respawn there is a chance it will spawn one of the rares.

Personally - so that you dont hit the reset instance cap - I would run in check the spawn points - if no rares there - then kill the 6 mobs. Wait 15-20 minutes. Rinse and repeat. Just remember I believe that once a rare has spawned and been killed you will have to reset the instance as no more rares will spawn (or any of the mobs at the 6 spawn locations).

Hope that helped. After about 2-3 hours today - using my above methods I saw:

I saw The Fallen Champion about 7 times, and Ironspine once (I had to kill the 6 mobs, wait 15 miuntes, kill them again, then wait 15 minutes, then he spawned).

ive been doing this istance for ironspines ribcage for about 17 times and fallen champion has appeared 3 times ironspine 0 and Azshir the Sleepless once.

i tried to kill the enemies on the rare spawns and after about 15 min none respawned on the rarespawn but the others had spawned. i know ive waited 15 min i had my BoW on so i counted that way and used my sense undead.

i did not kill bloodmage thalanos but some other mobs that were in my way and no one respawned on the rarespawns. so i think blizzard has removed these rare spawn respawn thing or i might be wrong.

anyways im doing this instance right now and im testing the trick again to see if i get any spawn at all at the rarespawns
points but if you are going after a rare thing from sm gy
DONT DO IT its not worht it, it takes alot of time and u get frustrated the chance that ironspine will appear is very low and theres a 33% chance that he will drop what you are after. just move on and leave it, you might think im worng but im just saying that its not worth doing this

I've never seen him!
I've gotten both Ashir the Sleepless and Fallen Champion on the same time, but I have never seen Ironspine ever, and I have done 20+ runs trough the graveyard.. So he is really rare

Just killed him actually. Dropped the Ironspine's Fist and 5s 5c for me.

He's really rare. This is the first time I've seen him in over 20 visits.

Ironspine dropped blue item called Ironspine's shoulder (I think). Lot better than Herold's shoulder.

Ive hunted this rare mob for a long time now (15 runs maybe).

Ive seen one rare boss spawn there many times within these runs, the boss was Azshir the Sleepless. WHY WONT THIS ARSE SPAWN?

They didn't remove or reduce the spawning of the rare spawns in SM graveyard if their not popping its because your not lucky im farming for him on my rogue and i stealthed the whole place and didnt see any of them 15 times straight and no rares to be seen so ya im still farming and starting to see one spawn

Ironspine decided to spawn after 31 runs for me... Fallen Champion spawned about 4 times and Ashir about 3. Good luck..

I've killed him five times this week, running this one about 5 times per day for the past three days. He dropped three chest peices, two rings. So believe me, it isn't that hard to get him. I'll also note that Monday alone I killed him three times, he spawned three times in a row.
Champion has poped seven times and Vishas once, this week.

Saw him last night at the SM Graveyard while on my alt, pretty easy kill. He dropped his chest piece. Didn't have anyone who could use it so we D/E it. Made a Small Glimmering Shard.

alright while this is informative its also kinda sad because it involves me having done SM undead 75+ times...

i run two computers, 3 accounts total. 60 rogue on standalone computer. my pet rogue lvl 26 stays at entrance so to make the reset process faster. and the third account i run i switch out characters on so as to reset the instance, allowing roughly 30+ mins downtime for each char to make it so i get a new instance everytime they log in.

on to the good stuff. ironspine is rarer than sin. in 75+ runs ive gotten him twice, dropped the mail chest and the hammer, both nice drops. ive also seen azshir 4 times, and fallen champion twice.

as for spawning information. you will find any of the three rare spawns in the courtyard area, they wont spawn on the raised area surrounding the part where you go down to final boss, and they wont spawn in the areas that are walled in. youll find them around the two freestanding buildings or inside them. be aware that if oyu kill a mob inside the building, you will find a respawn by the time you finish looting. seems the mobs dont want to leave it unmanned or something to that degree.

on a side note for those of you farming undead sm, vishas dropped the dagger for me only twice (killed him everytime) and it isnt unique so you can dual wield them, and the final boss is only worth farming if youre a subtlety rogue and you can get in and out with a quickness, hes dropping the mantle that sells for 20ish silver or the orb that goes for 50ish silver almost everytime.

p.s. i was farming the zone for the leather gloves from champion and ironspines eye for a lvl 30 warsong twink. if that makes any of this madness any clearer

This is a cut'n'paste for all 3 rare spawns in SM Graveyard.

There are 6 rare spawn points in the graveyard. All 3 houses (bloodmage house spawn point is at bottom of the first flight of stairs). The raised section SW corner. 2 either side of the main pathway next to each house.

Basically if you ever see a single fettered spirit instead of the normal 3 spawn...that's a rare pop point.

All 3 rares can pop at any of the 6 points as far as I can tell but won't respawn until all 6 have been killed (add standard 12-15 min spawn time after last mob death) This means the bloodmage doesn't need to be killed.

If either Ironspine or the Fallen Champion spawn the repop ends and the zone must be reset to continue.

Rare pop chance seems to be about 5%
Ironspine pop chance 40%

i snuck through the entire dungeon with my lvl 34 rouge and tried to kill him three times, got him on the last and neither the ring nor the mace drops. now ive got to do it again dammit

I solo'd this guy as 33 rogue. Using Preparation for double evade. Make sure to always bank at least 30 energy so you can use Kick on its poison cloud.

Spawn commonality is something like this: Sleepless>Fallen>Ironspine
If your loot is from Sleepless, go ahead farm it. If from Fallen Champion, it's a bit tough. If waiting for Ironspine, it's probably not worth to farm it.

I spent about 2 hours trying to get Ironspine's Eye for my rogue. In that that time, I probably ran GY 10 times. I saw Fallen Champion 3 times and Ironspine 3 times. I didn't see Azshir at all. I was just about to give up until I found Ironspine on my last instance count and he dropped the ring. Not sure if I am lucky or not but feels like it from looking at the comments! Thanks so much for all the help, commenters!

If you can't get it in a reasonable time, I'd say skip it but for all you rogues that really want it, I'd say set up target macros like mentioned below and to look at the spawn maps also listed in comments. They were great help.

PLUS these I found myself :

Kill 5 mob (Right of graveyard near fence - Right chamber - Left chamber - Right of final boss chamber - Left of final boss chamber)
15 Min wait
Maybe respawn go enjoy if not then reset the dung (DO NOT KILL ANYTHING)
Again start dung and TADA, Ironspine is there if not then again repeat

Note:

Again DO NOT KILL ANY MOB AFTER 15 MIN WAIT, go and reset the dung

I face this !@#$%^& 3 times in a row, then he dropped these in this order for me :
First, he dropped Ironspine's Fist.
Second, he dropped Ironspine's Ribcage.
Third, he dropped Ironspine's Eye, that for Rouges and Hunters this is a good finger tho.

TOTAL Instance I ran for this dung is : 21 times
