Sadly not a good place to go for Living Essence because of the ton of oozes they share spawns with (which drop no essences).

I've been camping this off and on for a week for the living breastplate pattern, i've gotten 3 copies of greater nature protection potion, but ive killed about 100 horrors and no drop, any tricks to spawning these faster?

A rogue friend and I have been looking for the pattern for awhile. In the cave are 2 types of slimes along with the horors. Respawns are random as to which creature spawns, so take out all the slimes and the decaying horrors will randomly spawn also.

The blue slimes and the Rotting Behemoth use the same spawn spots. It's random which mob you get back after a kill, so just kill all blue slimes as well.

where does this spawn? iv been looking around the cave alittle inside it, but cant find anything else than thoose slimy things, could any1 gimmi coords 4 the spawn places plz?

On terenas I've been farming these lol drop so many times lol made about 2000 gold out of the munny lol

yup, easy kills, dropped ~8s each. .... havent respawned yet.. :)
Dunno if its the same horrors that everyone else here is talking about but it was 2 Decayed Horrors I just killed :P

The Decaying horrors are simply deeper inside the cave, but after you get deeper in it just alternates between Rotting behemoths and Decaying horrors

i read about these guys here and thought id give it a shot. after going through a bunch of those annoying slimes i ran into a decaying horror and shocked as hell it droped the pattern! i tried a few more but the cave has waaaayyyy to many of those annoying slimes,if i was a mage wouldnt be so bad just aof the spawns as warrior annoying as hell

I got it. It's random:

Rotting Behemoth could be replaced with Vile Slime and Decaying Horror could be replaced with Devouring Ooze and vice versa. The chance of replacement seems to be about 50%.

I've never seen any outside of the cave. There the cycle seems to be Rotting Behemoth <-> Vile Slime.

so I was wondering if the Decaying Horrors are spawn only in the plca of Devouring Slimes. Anyone can confirm ?

I have been farming these dudes for over 5 hours now
The share a spawn rate with the slimes and the rotting ones, and like some others have said there spawn rate is alot lower on these decaying horrors then on the others, slimes respawn the fastest

So far I have 5 of the Alchemy Recipes and not 1 lw pattern, and the recipes only go for 30g on my server :(

As a 70 Hunter this is pretty easy but like a said it's taking forever, I've even run out of arrows, was only using em to pull anyway :(

Also - I have seen one Elemental in the cave entrance but most seem to be inside the cave.

after all these weeks, almost a full month of going after this pattern, ive finally got it, and it didnt even drop for me. a friend of mine was helping me farm once in the cave, and he got the alch pattern to drop, and sold it for 120g this week on bleeding hollow, so he comes here now regularly to get that for his epic mount fund. well he was in here with one of his guildies and one mob dropped BOTH the LW pattern and alch recipe at the same time! what are the odds that both uber rare patterns would drop at the same time, off one mob, after all this time of farming? thanks to rogall for the awesomeness. for those out there interested in having a living breastplate created for them, pst darmon on BH server :)

i hear u guys talk about the pattern...but does it really seem like a 2% drop on living essences?
*edit* thats a negative....there is only like 3 of those guys in the cave...stick to ungoro guys

I am trying to get through the cave, but it is difficult with all the devouring oozes who lets off their little oozes... :) i'll give a better status report when I've been through the whole thing

I'm shocked that I have never seen the recipe for living breastplate before! I did not know these existed till just now, and I'm omw to farm for this. I will be there till it drops. I always thought the Living set was a little underdone. I just saw a druid named fuki wearing this on BH (allaince) thanks for the inspiration lol!

so I've been in here farming for a bit, and I'm convinced this is the worst example of farming in WoW. that is why i can have /played of 65 days, and never once seen this recipe before now. 4 different types of mob share the same spawn points. The type of mob that I need is the rarest of the 4 types. And the drop rate is <1.5% And the damn slimes that split into other slimes make it impossible to solo if you aggro more than one at a time, which is doable since everything in here respanws in like 45 seconds. and i can't even mine the surprisingly large amount of rich thorium, small thorium, and truesilver deposits. which bliz designer made this cave?

I will buy this recipe on Bleeding Hollow horde side. /w darmon

so i'm checking this place every day around 4-8am, i go in, and i use pet to scout around cloaked and see whats inside while i track elementals. i See 10-15 elementals, and only 1 was a decaying horror. so thats 1% to get it right there, then i have to kill 14 more elementals just to get the right one to spawn like 2-3 times out of 14 kills. and all the while, fighting off the damn cloning jellys. WTB 60 magex2 + 60 priest

Farmed for about 30 minutes, and the recipe dropped. I was all *squeeee!*, and my friend says "Keep farming and another will drop." I figure what the hell, and keep killing. About 4 mobs later another drops. I'm jumping up and down yelling "OMG another one dropped!" I go back to my computer, and start clearing my way out...two mobs later, a third drops. I just kind of get white faced in shock now, and call my friend over to look at the screen. Best, luck, evar! Farmed for another hour and nothing else ever dropped. Learned one, sold one(110 gold), and am saving one for my friend's druid.

I've been farming the recipe off and on for about a year now... I can confirm that the drop rate on the living essence has been reduced in a recent patch (think it was about 1.10), back this spring I was getting lots of them (about 2% as stated above), now I've been getting them at about the same rate if not less than the recipe. Also, I've farmed 5 recipe's in the past month, but have never once seen the pattern drop?

With a lock reccomend killing the slimes from range with your VW to hold agro and AoE after from range to kill off the slimes.. With a Mage, just kill slime and AoE the spawns when they are in close.

If you stand on up on the tunnel that intersects, you can cast your DoT's (for Lock) and they will be pretty much dead by the time they run all the way around to you :D I find the cave easier with my blue/yellow equiped mage that with my epic'd out Lock.
