The first movie was amazing, even if it did deviate from the original lore a bit.A second movie would be incredible.
Animated TV series and release on Netflix... will do a killing!
I really hope the rumors of Peter Jackson being eyed to direct are true. And please let it be an Arthas trilogy.
yes make the movie plz :D
Things that should happen with this next movie:1. Better director - I have nothing against Duncan Jones, but it takes a seasoned veteran to world build and create something huge in terms of scale. Someone like Peter Jackson, Guillermo Del Toro or Jon Favreau. You need someone who understands visuals as well as the nuance of emotion and drama.2. Better actors - Sure it seemed like hiring Ragnar for the main character would have been great, but Travis Femmell was particularly suited for his roll as Ragnar. He has on screen presence, but it doesn't translate well for movies where you need someone strong and charismatic in a more traditional sense. Paula Patton Was awful and Ben Foster was weird.3. More story, less exposition - The first movie felt like a proof of concept. World building with CGI can be done. The technology is there. With live virtual set design using Unreal Engine, you can create some amazing sets that feel real. The Mandalorian has set the standard and shown what you can do with less budget.4. Better story and setting - I get it, if you're going to be legit, you have to tell the story from the beginning...However, the beginning isn't always the best place to start. Look at the most successful franchises like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. Where do they start? At the GOOD parts. George Lucas had so much material to film, he could have started in a lot of places. Instead he started at the beginning of the heroes Journey. With Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson could have done the Hobbit first, but Lord of The Rings was more interesting and a better story. What do these both have in common? Relatable protagonists and a Journey. I've watched the Warcraft movie maybe 10 times. Sure there were some elements of a journey and it being an experience...but unless you know the games, you don't have context about who these people are and where they are. The world the characters live in is as important as who they are. Whoever writes the next script needs to understand World Building. Believing that Azeroth could exist and the story matters is intrinsically tied to the audience caring at all. That being said, what story do you tell that would bring people in who aren't just fans of the games? You go for the goods. THE LICH KING. It seems ambitious, but I think 3 movies telling the story of Arthas, the culling, his journey north, Taking up Frostmourne, his ascent into madness, then the Lich Kings fall at the hand of Tirion Fordring and the Argent Crusade - It's what we need. It's a lot, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better story to tell.I could go on, but this is a good start.
I personally really like(d) the first movie but I do get why it isn't great for people who aren't familiar with the games/lore (I mean, when I went to watch it in the cinemas, there were like 1-2 other people apart from me and my partner, the whole theatre was empty.. ^^')Sooo I do hope they'll make a second one, more adapted to a bigger (non-player) audience. :D I don't care what it is about but I'd love to see some Night Elves and/or Druids in it <3
Hopefully they will make another Warcraft movie because I liked the first one. It was good movie in my opinion and because of the fact that in the game there is the concept of alternate timelines with alternate histories and we only got to explore that through WoD, the Mag'har recruitment scenario, and some novels. Though if they decide to explore other concepts of Warcraft's lore than I would be good with that anyway.
im sorry, the movie made atleast 3 mistakes:1. going with real actors assisted by cgi instead of cinematic trailer level cgi2. changing the lore so drasticaly, "yeah lets make a movie the majority of fans and people who are not yet fans wont realy enjoy all that much"3. not making it the story of arthas. i mean come on, that is THE MOST iconic warcraft story, alot of us got into wow from warcraft 3, that story is the bestand even tho its a pretty movie, all things considered its probably the best or at the least one of the best game movie adaptations
What about the War of the Ancients? That has some good stuff in it. But it would still be interesting to see a trilogy on Arthas though here is where a problem might lie, Arthas in Wrath of the Lich King doesn't do much except taunt the players and tell you some stuff so it might be difficult to place Arthas in the spotlight unless they decide to do a time skip from the end of his Ascension to Lich King to his battle and fall at the top of Icecrown Citadel. I don't know what they could do if they decide to do an Arthas focused trilogy but I am just voicing some complications to include his fall as the Lich King.
Posting rumours? I get forums doing this, but news sites need to stop doing it. Metzen tweeting doesn't mean anything, either.
How to make sure a new warcraft movie succeeds in 3 simple steps:Step 1, don't hire Hollywood.Step 2, give a much larger budget to the team that deals with all the pre-rendered in game cinematics. Involve the various very talented writers that have authored many of the Warcraft books and the super talented voice actors that everyone knows and loves.Step 3, enjoy success!
Please just make a Warcraft Netflix tv series on the scale of "The Witcher" or "Game of Thrones" kthxbai
While I didn't hate the first film, the editing was atrocious. If they make another one, hopefully it flows better. The human roles could've been better cast as well. Found them very bland and forgettable outside of Medivh and Khadgar.
I hope they make the second one. But they should have started at the start of the warcraft lore. Like the ancient war. Would have made much more sense for people who dont know the lore of Warcraft.
I did like the first movie, but was hard to follow if you didnt know the lore from that time period, id love to see arthas but if they continue off of the orcs, i think the first movie would age better ( kinda like watching star wars in a different order) even if they added the relationship the orcs and draenai had prior to the dark portal. Especially them both using the crashed ship as a way to communicate with ancestors, that wouldve made you care a lot more about the blue goats getting killed and why some orcs immediately distrusted the council when they started to kill them
I would rather an animated series a'la Castlevania, but I know I'll go to see this anyway as I honestly liked the first one
