How to Play Plunderstorm - Installing World of Warcraft: Dragonflight

Installing Modern WoW

Go to the Battle.net App

Click on Games

Click on World of Warcraft (Not World of Warcraft: Classic!)
Click Install at the bottom left of your screen

Select Plunderstorm from the World of Warcraft game menu to get into the action.

Create a new, ready-to-play character—player characters are unique to this event. You don't need previous knowledge of races and classes to chart your course for mayhem.

Choose between Solo or—to play with your Battle.net friends—make a group from the Plunderstorm character screen and select Duo. If queued for a Duo without a partner, you'll be automatically matched with one. You can also access chat, customize characters, and see the queue from the Character Select Screen.

Not only is this something nobody wanted, but it's nonintuitive and reeks of bad game design.

imo this looks great. First, it's a pvp thing that many people still care about (not me) and as Malvient said - it's the first step in separate pvp modes which would be healthy for the game. And second, it looks fun! If they got anything from islands and torghast - it can be utilized well here.
