You forgot the harpy NPC in Val'Sharah named "Seersei" which IMO is a clear reference to Cersei.
GoT spoilers can get you banned on r/wow. R/WoW is super serious.
Lol, Kingslayer title for killing Lich King must be a GoT reference Kappa.
lol @ the people arguing about an opinion... until the dev that put it in the game confirms/denies it, that's all it is. its just a bit of fun relax...
After last episode actually this comparision i've made is much better look for references ;phttp://i.imgur.com/83ttAk9.png
The books upon which the TV series is based have been around for a long time. The first one was published in 1996!
Since most of these were in WOW before GoT, maybe this should be renamed to "Warcraft references in Game of Thrones"...
I highly doubt that Lady in arathi basin is a GoT reference since she chases/gets chased by a cat named Cleo
Regicide as a concept predates GoT by thousands of years, both in fiction and in real life. The term "Kinglsayer" is not that novel, I expect it's been coined multiple times. Personally, it makes me think of Vimes and his ancestor, from Discworld.
Okay... i'm sorry, but you're statement that the Kinglsayer title in ICC is "a reference to Jaime slaying the Mad King Aerys" is complete and utter beyond belief BS.How can a TV series that started in 2010 inspire a title for WoW that was put out in 2009?Come on, at least TRY to backup your references with something remotely believable.
Indeed The Warcraft series (not just WoW) have been influenced greatly from the Song of Ice and Fire by GRRM. The Song of Ice and Fire (by GRRM) ---------------- World of Warcraft 1. The Night King (who was just a man before), became the Lich King (who was just a man before) | BOTH changed via an object.2. His personal army: the White walkers, became the Death Knights | Who live only to serve.3. The minions of the White Walkers "the wights", became the minions of the DK's "the ghouls" | In both cases the minions die if the master dies4. The frost dragon Viserion became the frost dragon Sindragosa | Both raised by "their" King5. North (of the wall) - became Northrend | and its freezing cold!6. Only the power of the Ashbringer could defeat the Lich King, Only the power of the Lightbringer will defeat the Night King 7. There's must always be a Lich King/Night King? Damn what a ripoffPS. Remember most books were published a few years before Warcraft3 - MANY MANY years before WoW was even conceived as an idea. The BooksA Game of Thrones (1996)A Clash of Kings (1998)A Storm of Swords (2000)A Feast for Crows (2005)A Dance with Dragons (2011)The Winds of Winter (forthcoming)The GamesWarcraft 3 (July 2002)Warcraft 3: TFT (July 2003)WoW (Nov 2004)WoW: WotLC (Nov 2008)
Sorry if I necroed this post Perc, but you forgot to mention that Genn losing his son Liam to Sylvanas is referecing what the Night King did to Viserion.
I made a short video detailing some of the references found in game, feel free to have a look, any feedback is always hugely appreciated!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWmV9kiQKgc&t=138s
