Personally, I think Option 4 is the best route to take. It maintains historical preservation and I feel like it would be easier, system wise, than option one and a lot less tickets that Blizzard would have to deal with of "I accidentally leveled to 61! I didn't know, and now I can't transfer my character to another server!"Also, taking into consideration guilds and stuff it would be a lot of extra work reforming guilds for anyone who wants to stay on classic. Then there is also things like realm progression events like the Gates of AQ and such.

They would have to pay me to play BC, but I'm still happy it's happening... One step closer to Classic Wrath!
Wake me up when WoTLK comes out.
I wish they'd just focus on giving WoW more content instead of other people working on more 'Classic' versions of the game. You know, if this does actually happen.
They need to keep all classic characters on classic servers and make copies for TBC. Totally defeats the purpose to sacrifice your classic character to play TBC. Give them the best of both!
I'm surprised that "copy your character to a TBC server and leave the original behind on a Classic server" isn't an option. The level 58 option is close, but seems a lot more clinical and cold than copying. Not to mention you lose all of your stuff.
Dont add flying, just keep it out of the game! TBC minus flying lets goooo!
The #1 best solutions is if Blizzard either just does what they do with PTR, allow for character copy but just restrict it to once per account. So that way people can keep their level 60 on Classic but have an exact copy of that character and their items, gear, progress, etc (just put a limit on items/gold they can copy). ORBlizzard should just automate the above, but for all characters by simply taking a server snapshot of every character and realm in Classic and have a duplicate ready and waiting for players to log into with on TBC.Either one of these two are the best solutions imo, as you still have your characters on Classic limited to 60, but also have exact copies of those same characters on TBC which you are now able to level to 70, etc.
Nobody is surprised by this, literally everyone with half a braincell knew this was coming.
WOW 6 hours after receiving survey it is already closed. This survey has reached its quota and responses are no longer being solicited.
#1The first proposal seems most sensible to me if they could just give us more details as to what they mean by transferring to a Classic realm.Does it work like a character copy or not? I somewhat doubt it will be a character copy because then everyone and their mother will make character copy on the few new classic only realms they open creating a massive strain and potential future problems. It doesn't matter too much though because I feel the vast majority of players will want to move to TBC, so even if you can't copy you'd know which game you'd want to play by that point. Some people suggest that hoarding and preparing for TBC will mess up the economy. I feel that even if you started at level 1, with having a population of level 70s at some point, you would get to the point where our economy is today twice as fast. So it makes little difference in the grand scheme of things. Also the first option is the closest thing to what actually happened back in the day, so my vote goes there.#2 & #3These two options may feel inviting because it gives the feeling of starting off on an equal footing, but I fear that this is just an illusion.Just like with Classic, in TBC time is the most valuable commodity. So in this case the people who got a head start in Classic will be the same people that get to enjoy all the advantages and perks of getting a head start in TBC (I consider myself to fall in this category of players). Which is to say, this advantage would be greater than if we all started at level 60 with our characters from Classic.Another issue with starting at level 58 would be the fact that the AH would be completely barren of any Azeroth mats. This would inflate the price on older mats even more than normal. Remember, people still need to level professions and make consumables with old materials. But the most important problem with starting fresh is people being forced to abandon their characters they've been committed to for the past 2 years. This is simply not how Blizzard has ever operated. Spending all that time, collecting unique items while leveling, spending untold amount of consumables gathering gear from AQ and Naxx, rare recipes, getting PvP ranks, etc. and just like that to make it all completely meaningless by starting again from nothing?Doesn't sound like a Blizzard experience to me. More like a private server one where the server could be shut down any day for whatever reason. The key point here is that I feel that these two options hurt way more people than they end up satisfying.#4On the surface this option may feel very inviting to many, but I see a lot of potential for issues, some of which would probably be unfixable. While they didn't really specify about how the transfer would work, I'm going assume that an existing Classic realm called 'XYZ' would get a counterpart called 'TBC-XYZ' and you can only transfer there. If that weren't the case it would be a complete catastrophe in terms of server populations if you could just transfer to any TBC realm you wanted. One of the first issues would be with character names. I would assume they would give a grace period to transfer your character and retain your name, but if for whatever reason you are unable to do this during the allotted time, you are looking to lose your character name forever. This is something that could never happen back during the actual Vanilla to TBC transition. Similar issue exists for guild names and this is very susceptible to griefing. The auction house problem that would exist on a level 58 realm would also exist here. Except now people could stock up on mats before they transfer a character which could also bring about a lot of unforeseen problems.By far and away the biggest problem with this is the fact that the overwhelming majority of players will switch to TBC when the time comes. Which inevitably leads to all these Classic servers being completely and utterly dead. Yes, you've preserved your level 60 character but for what? No one's around anymore.Just one more reason why I think the first option is superior. In conclusion, I think that if TBC dropped today and you gave people the option to start fresh or continue with the characters they have, I strongly believe almost everyone would pick the latter option. And when it comes to choosing between option 1 or option 4, I think that the first option brings a lot less potential issues and doesn't deviate too much from how it originally happened.
I don't like the word transfer in this case to be honest. What i'd prefer more would be a copy option. Have my classic character stay on a server that never goes past 60 with the option to copy it to a server that is progressing into TBC.
