This is a fantastic racial ability and remains on one of my hotbars to this day. I can only assume it will stay there through lvl 70 too.

Use this in conjunction with an enemy castbar mod and it becomes MUCH more useful since you can see what an enemy is casting.

The second I notice fear, sleep, or charm/seduction I click this and the 5 sec duration is longer than the cast times for those spells, so I know it will be active when the opponent's spell completes.

PVP uses: mainly anti-succubus, anti-lock/priest fears -- i don't get put to sleep much in BGs.

....and I beat you to comment on a racial abilty Ennui. :-D

Quite possibly the best PvP oriented racial in the game, WotF allows undead players to break Crowd Control efforts in an already very fast paced PvP environment, which is a huge advantage. With the introduction of PvP trinkets, refined resists, diminished affects in TBC, and longer lasting battles in TBC, this racial will be less and less significant, but it is still an amazing countermeasure.

It still works great for Undead Warriors during pve encounters where fear is present. While we do not have Fear Ward in our capabilities the usage of WoTF if you cannot stance dance fast enough proves to help greatly. Great PvP skill but just as good PvE skill so don't forget to use it! Since it seems that people overlook its usage in the pve game.

I believe this is the reason that the Horde faction did not recieve a priest capable of casting Fear Ward =P Fear Ward+WotF+Trinket is much too powerful ^^ Then again, being a pally, I have Unyielding Faith (10%)+Shadow Resistance Aura (~5-10%)+Natural resistance (+5%) making about 25% chance to resist fear anyway =) You UD are quite lucky...cherish your gift!

Note, it also removes a Warriors Intimidating Shout...Some abbilities do not as it is treated as a Physical effect rather than a Magical one =)

Speaking strictly of PvP, this is the most useful racial ability in game.

While others may play a minor role in the outcome of a fight - this spell acts as a deciding factor in who will win. Especially good for a melee class such as rogues or warriors, seeing as how priests/warlocks use fear as a means of escape, or putting distance between you and them so that they can cast spells on you while you're incapacitated.

However, this ability fails to match Fear Ward in the capacity of PvE raiding, but only because the spell is self-applicable. If you're a tank, or even any other class within range of a fear, of course this will help you, but that's as far as it will go - only to help the caster.

Less signifigant? Having two anti fear abilities is tremendous. Being able to use 1 while the other is on cooldown... priceless.

If you are a level 19 twink rogue facing a level 19 twink warlock, on their first fear kick, when they can fear again pop this and you should be able to have killed it enough by then. Best PvP racial ever.

I didnt notice i had this right away on my first undead character as it was not already on one of the actionbars. I did have alot of UI mods so it could have got lost in the custom interface somewhere.

Could someone confirm if it appears on a bar or not when you start?

I have one question, as i started just a while ago...
Does this "breaks" fear, or you have to use it beforehand to gain immunity?
As in the second case it wouldn't be useful against instant cast fear effects...
Can someone tell me please?

They really should just call this Will of the Broken. Easily the best racial for PVP and has many PVE uses as well. Note that it will not dispell horror from Deathcoil and other non-fear but fear-like spells. Not to worry though, you can't active it when under the influence of horror so no worry about wasting it.

Imo opinion needs a minor nerf after 2.3, something along the lines of no being able to pop it when already feared. Or small chance it won't work.

As Archangel hints at further up the page, the reason it needs nerfing in 2.3: undead priests and the Fear Ward change.

Trinket, Fear Ward and Racial = too many CC get outs compared to other classes = a little bit imbalanced. Alliance Priests, Warlocks and Warriors essential have no CC for many encounters. Not the end of the world ofc, but balancing the game is all about addressing these issues. When you change something as big as fear ward you have to balance it out elsewhere.

WotF is not a priest trait, Stop comparing it to them. Besides, ally who had fear ward now get a free stun/interupt (incapasitate, whatever). Dont tell me that won't come in handy.

This removes the mind control spell as well from my experience. Apperently it counts as a charm effect (wouldn't seem like fear or sleep to me)

hey i've noticed something ... if u go do SM cath and the last boss (whitemane) puts the whole party to SLEEP ... using this DOES NOT remove it. i wonder why ............

Well it looks like sleep but it's actually a stun....seeing as how when you clixk it, it says "Can not be used while stunned".....also its impossible to make her die before that...My 70 lock threw lots of DoTs on her and she was at 1% for a good 5 seconds.....so yeah..its impossible to kill her before she resses Mograine

i dont think all u horde realise just how hard this makes it for alliance locks to kill undead player (which the majority of horde are). if a warrior or rogue uses this against you they have 5 seconds of free hitting and from there garenteed stunlocking from a rogue. thats a hell of a lot of dmg into cloth armour. there isnt anything the lock can do other than go and make a sandwitch and wait for respawn.

Hey, I play a lock at level 60. Undead rogues are my fav prey.

Not being one thats TOO into pvp (such as WSG, and the like), I did a lot of pve.

Fights go like this.

1. Rogue stuns you.

2.Sac the VW for a gain of pretty much your whole HP. Now you got wiggle room. I cant think of many rogues that can do this amount of damage your sacrifice is AND still kill you by the time stun wears off.

3. Death coil. this has 3 effects. One, you hurt the jerk. Two you heal yourself for the damage he did. 3. Fears him for a few.

4. Now heres the best part. Hes going to use the will of forsaken. But the fear of death coil is only a few seconds long anyways, so its a waste on his part. Its more just to get him out far enough you can throw down the dots.

5. Heres where I laugh. Grab a potion of limited invul. lasts for 6 seconds. Thats 6 seconds he cant do a damn thing, and you can take your time life draining. When the timers around 2 seconds or so, fear him. Since you KNOW that the will only gives it for 5 seconds immunity, and hes got another 2 min before repops, you own him. Even IF he pops a trinket, hes going to be thinking "ok hes sac'ed a VW, I got rid of it, and he is still immune to damage, but Im 1/2 dead."

6. If the guy is dumb enough to keep fighting, you still got a healthstone. (which is great, cuz itll take the place of the potion you coulda used but cant because of the fact you did a limited invul.) If you dont have a healthstone, you are not playing your lock.

I know what you are thinking. "but that will cost money." So does repeated ganking. As in "I could have killed this bastard and gone and done some missions, and now I got to wait around and hope hes not going to gank me a second time". The potion I am talking about should cost you 3g for 5. Thats it. Its not hard to make, and the guy will turn a profit even if he buys from the AH. Trust me, Im a level 300 alchy since level 37.

Does it work? Everytime. He cant even interrupt your casting times with the invul on, OR the sacrifice. Ive seen some mace specialists do me a good one, thats true, but I still got a 50/50 record with those few. repeated stuns blow. Keep in mind tho, if hes chosing maces over other weps, he most likely wont be able to keep the damage up to get rid of your Sac in time for retaliate, so you still got a good chance to win.

I killed my first 60 at level 48. It was an undead rogue. One of the better ones was when I was pulling 2 mobs at once and got jumped by a level 60 UD rogue at level 57. I killed them AND her. It works people. Just so long as you can count to 5.

As a second option, if you got the jump on THEM, I say start off with a fear as normal, then save the death coil. When the 5 secs is over for them, deathcoil for an instant fear, then refear and dot away. No chance in hell of surviving that.

WOTF is by far one of the biggest handicaps for any alliance priest/warlock that plays the game. It's a 3rd pvp trinket slot on a 2 minute cooldown that removes seduce, fear, and mind control. Horde locks/priests simply do not understand how much easier they have it in PvP. Warlock's have a better chance because of deathcoil but for priests they have to take the brunt of melee classes.

It's basically Blizz's way to reduce the numbers of alliance and increase the horde players.
It's grossly overpowered - there's no discussion there.
Every little kiddie that "likes to pwn" or every calculating adult that preffers to take the easy way would roll undead.
This cuts the CC of 3 alliance classes pretty effectively basically forcing alliance players to not use the CC and fight like dumb idiots doing nothing but damage.

Might be fine and balancing in PvP worlds where alliance players to horde = 2:1 but in BGs it's stupid and game breaking.
Probably the one skill that would make me quit wow eventually or reroll a class that doesn't use fear.

Oh and the recent addition of CloS - you must be !@#$ing kidding me. Being a 41 point talent that skill was overpowered - being trainable it's ridiculous. Again not only clearing the negative effects but also giving 5 seconds immunity ? (at least now horde players that face rogues get to experience the helplessness of alliance characters facing wotf(and we all witness the uproar ))

WotF fair my ass. If it was on par with other talents 95% of all PvP rogues won't be UD.

Forget what I said - forget all arguments - look at bare facts. If every self respecting PvP rogue or priest roll undead , then there is a reason. And believe me it ain't the chalenging gameplay or the pretty graphics.(locks on horde side roll orc because of stun resists + spell damage buff- again a talent specifically designed to make it easier for horde to take on alliance players.)

gnomes are fine they got +intellect and the trap stuff but humans does only have that ^&*!ty perception that will not even work if the rogue just vanished and you GOT to know there is a rogue close... WotF is so god damn overpowered vs for example a human warlock + that if the undead is an mage/rogue/priest he will also be able to buy the trinket wich will provide him with another "remove fear blz" effect so I cant really see how someone find this this racial ability fair.
Fair it would be if the trinkets shared cooldown with this ability so they cant use both at the same time. (it should atleast be freaking 5 min cooldown)

for all the people that complain they cant beat any UD because they break their fear...how bad can you be that you cant last for 5 seconds without fear. after 5 seconds the effect is done, and then you can hit them with another fear. If you die in the 5 seconds you have to wait...you probably depend on fear way too much

What Im hearing is "I just got to 70 and still in quest greens being owned by arena geared rogues"
Warlocks do have a major defence along the same lines of warriors ~They can stack ALOT of %^&*ing Stamina~ plus they can just throw enough points in demo for 20% less damage, then throw the rest in siphon life so your always getting health back. and if you got 12k hp with *lots* of resiliance you can take a few hits so start heading into some BG's and playing your class

Okay, a nice comment now: What I did is play a few BGs and REMOVE fear off my action bar. You WILL (just like I did) get completely owned. But after 5-6 rounds you'll learn that locks can actually do other things than chain fear *gasp*

Anyway~ stick back your fear on the action bar and after 2-3 rounds of owning in BGs post back here with your praises ;)

If you can't fear as a Warlock, then L2Kite and DoT. Warlock has so many CC moves that WotF is just another obstacle to overcome.

Affliction- Instant Howl; CoEx; Seduction; Deathcoil > Inferno Stun
Demo- Intercept; Fel Domination+Seduction; Deathcoil > Inferno Stun
Destruction- Shadowfury > Howl/Fear; Seduction; Deathcoil > Inferno Stun

-Why use Inferno to stun?
Because the longer you stun/fearlock a target, the more damage the DoTs will inflict and giving you time to strategize.

-But Inferno casting time is 2secs, you nub!
That is why you chain Inferno summon with Deathcoil! If you're not Demo, Inferno's Damage >>>>>>> any of your pets in damage. You have full five seconds of CCing your target with Deathcoil > Inferno stun and it will force Rogue to unstealth if they try to vanish after deathcoil. Rogue successfully vanish? Inferno's AoE DoT will force them out of stealth so feel free to run around with inferno.

-Inferno has 30min CD! That is stupid and you're stupid!
Well let me ask you, when was the last time you used Inferno summon to stun? If you really want to live in a fight, this just might save your life.

-But Shadowfury is not instant! Shadowfury has .5sec casting time! You don't have any other alternatives as Destro so deal with it. If you can land shadowfury (which is not hard provided a pushback in casting from interruption), fear/howl right afterwards.
