The change definitely is a needed buff to the Spellstone and Firestone... Though the melee weapon damage is still an odd additional effect, a toy at best.

In WoW 2.0, you can now equip it as a relic (wand slot). Very good for destruction spec warlocks unless you already had a +26 fire dmg wand..

One thing I wonder:
Is the proc-damage scaled by spelldamage? If so, by how much/little. It can't be much or I'd notice it more, but I'd be interested in knowing a number.

This item might have some effect on the game if it wasn't soulbound. You could make them and trade them to other DPS classes in situations where they might be helpful.

However, as it stands now, these are almost completely useless (only a fire-lock with a poor ranged weapon would want to use one).

Also, can somebody explain to me why there is a melee proc on this item?

Does anyone know if the proc rate on this is fixed, or does it adjust based on weapon speed?

Anotherwards, would I benefit with this more on a faster weapon, since I'd be swinging more, or does the chance it will proc increase on a slower weapon to balance out?

It's pretty much useless for demonology/affliction 'locks, but in the destruction build you get a damage bonus decent enough to trade in your stave for a sword. And the firey glow looks cool, too :D

Used it for the first time last night, and was not happy with it. I have a stave and I could not use my wand any longer after applying this. It was still there after I died but when I logged out and logged back in it was gone thank god

It takes the wand slot so if u are grinding and like 2 use your wand 2 save mana like me the is cinda useless.

Can it be traded?
No it binds on pickup.(Why does warlock need a melee buff?)

In my oppinion it blows big time.

it enchants the weapon with fire to act as a melee wand, because with the firestone equipped and hitting mobs with your weapon would probably = your wand damage, and it adds dmg to immolate and searing pain

i would personnaly use this in BG's where ppl rarely use their wands, unless the wand is imba, and i would rather have +searing pain than a wand

Would just like to add that when doing instances a good warlock will never use his/her wand at all. So unless you have a nicely buffed wand (which I don't unfortunately), use the fs to increase the dps done by immolate/hellfire/searing pain.

i just got this and i'm sure it blows at higher lvls but with my staff this thing was proccing real often making my hits sometimes past 80. i was doing damage faster than my dots but mana free.

sick VW, throw on a fast dot, run up and hit the ^&*!, leave with full mana and health.

so it doesn't blow at 28 if you have a good staff. i'm betting you could grind the hell out of stuff for a few lvls using this. it could be at least used to fight and let your mana regen then go back to your normal attacks

u guys r stupid, this thing is owesome IF and only IF ur a dest spec, in lvl 70 it adds 30 fire spell dmg, which u wont find any wand that will increase that much +firedmg, and ofc not in the lower ranks as well. it will increase ur searing pain, immolate, conflagrate, incinerate, and soulfire, what else can u ask? +30 fire spell dmg 2 those spells isnt a small amount at all.

If a firestone + a decent sword is about the same as a wand, why would any warlock use one especially if you don't need to chase the mob if it runs away when using a wand?

One reason is that you don't suffer the same effect on spell cooldown if you use a melee attack. If you're using a weapon there is no added delay in switching to a spell but if you're using a wand you have to wait the extra .5 sec.

This is really useful at lower levels since it is rare to find a wand with good stats on it then. I'm an affliction lock, level 30 grinding in arathi. All I have to do is throw my dots on a mob, using VW, then walk up and stab the mob, doing about as much damage as another dot would and not using my general CD like a wand does. Once the mob gets low health there is no need to chase it around as I use imp drain soul and return to nearly full mana and life after about a 15 second battle. Some things just take a little more ingenuity to use effectively, I will not however, use this at higher levels as a +shadow dmg wand would be much more beneficial when that option becomes available.

this is useful! if youre a desto lock. you get more dmg from fire spells >D so you hurt more with soul fire or conflagate so its a nice ability if you dont have a very good wand >D

Help pls! I created a Firestone last night and lost use of my wand. I logged out; and when I signed back in today my wand still doesn't work. Also, there is a 'green box' around the wand icon on my execute key. Now what? thnx

You are stupid.. This is equipped in the Ranged Slot, witch eamns you can have this and a stave.

The +Fire damage does not stack with wands.

For example, if i had a wand that deals shadow damage, and i have got +100 shadow spell damage, than my wand would deal more damage than my Shadow Bolt.

So, +Spell-damage bonuses do not stack to wands.

This Firestone replaces the Wand. it is very good if you are a destruction lock on higher levels.. when you have got Soul Fire and above.

the best bit about this is the +10 fire spell damage and the glow! ive made 2 macros and if u use these i advise u to do the same: (edit as u see fit.)

i use rod of the sleep walker and a gravestone scepter because the sceptres high dps and the rods +11spirit. i use these when my mana is low and i dont have potions.

This is a cool enchantment that this stone gives. I saw it today on another warlock. I get it next lvl! It makes a small, flamey oragne ball rotate around your weapon. Its not the standard glow you see in the beastslayer enchantments.

Can't wait to try it myself! Wonder if I can give this to other party mates?
