Looks like Paladins are going the tanking route. I wouldn't be surprised if Paladins in TBC will be DPSing and Tanking up there with the rest of the Warriors; and not just healing.

This will really help prot pallies who actually like occasional tanking. Currently they have a lot of difficulty holding aggro, but at least this way they can now 'taunt' if someone pulls off of them.

This spell is soooooo very nice, especially now after the change in 2.4 where it can be used just like a warriors taunt, no need to select a friendly target anymore.

Apparenly this macro doesnt have the unfortunate side effect of leaving you locked when your target's target isnt targeting anything, I haven't tested it myself but I trust it works as said. <<<

Here's my RD Macro where you can target the mob and it'll work just aswell as when you would target a friendly player.

/assist
/cast Righteous Defense
/assist

What this does is when I'm targeting a mob attacking another player, it 'assists' the mob, which means it'll retarget to the friendly target, THEN cast the taunt, then assisting the friendly player which puts you back on the mob. Best thing is you dont even see it changes targets so u'll always stay on top of the mob =)

Also, I added a few messages

/e Taunting %t!
/assist
/e Assisting %t!
/cast Righteous Defense
/assist

where %t is the name of your current target.

So I press my (now-)hotkeyed taunt.
Taunting Random Mob!
*changes target to the friendly player*
Assisting Random Player!
*casting Righteous Defense*

The target is now focusing on you and everyone in the area knows what you're taunting, and who you pulled it off.

-Will not work if the mob isnt targeting the player-

Like when you've cast HoJ, the mob will untarget and your taunt will not work, but it's not wasted then either it just wont work :D

/targetlasttarget seems to be a better option than /assist, I personally have yet to test it however

Yes, very useful macro you have posted for us, works like a charm for me :)

Also I'd like to stress to everyone it works slightly like a warrior taunt, but NEEDS to have a friendly player targeted who the mob is attacking, Slide's macro does very this.

Combine this spell with Spiritual Attunement, it seems Paladins can be good tanks now.

I've been lazy and haven't set mine up yet, but I'd modify it a bit so that instead of doing /assist at the end, change it to /targetlasttarget

Because sometimes you will have a healer take aggro and they aren't targeting the mob for the most part.

A much better macro to do this:

/cast Righteous Defense

Besides being smaller and faster, this has the added advantage of not changing your actual target, causing less problems with interrupting melee attacks. If you accidently cast this on a mob that is attacking *you*, the other macro will target yourself and error, causing you to stop attacking, this will just display an error.

First, great macro. Works like a charm....or a trinket. LOL! That aside, I have to say that I do not understand why folks say this is not as good as warrior's Taunt. If anything it's better. Up to three targets are affected by this and all you have to do to turn it into a "Warrior Taunt" is make a macro....wow....just so hard lol. This is why we rule Multi-mob tanking ^^

When I try to taunt in a high threat situation, I keep encountering and issue where the taunt goes off, but the creature has changed targets moments beforehand.

Any suggestions?

so basicly its the same as taunt execpt it works on 3 mobs and has a 40 yard range?

Ok the macro works, but how about those times where you just want to lower the person w/ the 2nd highest agro when RD is ready.

My current macro currently does what this one does, but preventative measures will make us that much better.

This spell is good for random aggro only. A good prot paly won't even let his threat slip not even by a mage. Besides in a 25 man raid i am assuming your buddies have leared to watch their threat long ago.
