This is one of the best things they could give to rogues imo. You can pop it to reemove dots and vanish, or you can pop it before a polymorph, seduce, pyroblast, any other I.W.I.N. spell you can think of. And only a 2 minute cooldown, this is a gift from the heaven.

I can see a Nerf call when TBC is released on the Rogue world. Cloak of Shadows-Vanish-Shadowstep is going to make the Rogue even more deadly in the PvP world. Even if the Rogue is hit by an AOE effect, a quick burst of Cloak of Shadow then Vanish will quickly get the Rogue back into the position to strike.

It is currently a talent in the LIVE servers... but in beta (from what i hear) it is a skill all rogues receive.

The new skill is called Shadowstep and it's unfortunatly not on this site. It is however on thottbot

Currently as far as I know this skill will become a trained skill at level 66 in The Burning Crusade. It's being replaced by the 41 point talent Shadow Step, which is something like a stealth blink for 10 energy. Many people think these skills will in essence shift the rogue community tword a Subtlety build as the prefered build in PvP.

Cloak of shadows is the best ability against casters. Imagine that you can resist warlock's death coil , paladin's Hammer of Justice etc. That's really awesome!

This is a great asset to any build, sword or dagger, venturing into Subtlety, but it will become a trained skill at level 66.

It works best against pesky warlocks ;)

Currently on the live servers, you cannot cast this when you are not in control of your character. This basically means you can't use it to break fear/stun/poly/seduce like will of the forsaken or the PvP trinket. This is still an amazing ability though.

If you're a dwarvern rogue this ability will basically make you immune to everything... well, not immune, but able to cleanse it once every few minutes.

Cloak of shadows- all curse and magic effects (warlocks, mages, priest and to some extent druids and shamans) Not sure if this works against unstable affliction, it might just hit you with the negative of having removed it...
Stone-skin- Poison, bleed and disease effects (Great for PVE and also Warriors and other rogues)
Insignia of the - Charm, fear and polymorph effects (Which is the remaining abilities of mages, priests and locks (with Succubus))
also Imp Sprint (if you get it)- All slowing and snaring effects (Mages, hunters and Warriors)

Truly a devastating combination, though probably not 100% reliable for PVP due to Cooldowns leaving a chink in your armour...

me being a mage this spell annoys the hell out of me. the best thing i learned to deal with this beside IB through out his cloak was to use my netherweave nets. When he pops on his cloak his immunity goes up to 90%. The net isnt magic. throw it on him and he will be immobile for 3 secs out of the 5 secs. That gives him 2 secs maybe 1 to enjoy it.

it helps me alot. and the spell SLOW is also a rouge killer as well. Seems when i specced Arcane my slow made it thru his cloak on the second instant cast almost all the time. i would spamm slow over and over until it stuck. hopefully this will help you mages or tailors out there.

As in the patch of 2.1.0 "Cloak of Shadows": The tooltip has been adjusted to indicate this ability removes hostile effects, rather than dispels them. "Cloak of Shadows" does not count as a dispel, and will not interact with dispel resistance or effects triggered by dispelling. This ability no longer removes the "Weakened Soul" debuff.

This spell just makes my freaking day. It makes me want to go around challenging warlocks unfamiliar with the spell to duels just to see them freak out and cry. This, combined with a racial like WotF or Escape Artist, and perhaps some of the outlands trinkets (Bladefist's Breath. Massive less-than-three for this thing) makes a 5 minute rogue into a 1 minute rogue.

I used it earlier today to shake off a Blade's Edge mountain raptor's disease. Thats just how useful it is.

Is it just me or does CloS + Setup (Subtlety talent) seem a bit OP?

I don't think it's a bad buff for Rogues to have. However, a skill this powerful needs a longer cooldown, and shouldn't coincide with things like the Setup talent (not sure if it does, just theorycrafting).

HOWEVER, if you have a decent raiding guild, Eye of Magtheridon basically turns CloS into a buff for everyone if you can survive the 5 seconds it's up.

I would think an afflict lock with Suppression maxed out would have a better chance at penetrating the CoS.

(Just two ranks of Suppression gives you a 99% chance to hit against the same lv- the highest the game will allow)

Suppression will only give you a 10% chance to hit headstart and only on Affliction spells. Even if you are in raiding gear (bad idea for PvP anyway) and have 202 hit rating AND Suppression maxed out AND spell hit really did help penetrate Cloak of Shadows, you'd still end up with:

4% (Base chance to miss) + 90% (CoS) - 16% (202 hit) - 10% (Suppression) = 68% chance to miss

And 78% on any non-affliction spell. Not much of a help at all, especially since you'd be giving up a lot of stamina and resilience to pump your spell hit up that high and will be squishy as hell. Really, there's not much any caster can do against a rogue who uses this anymore... the only exception being Frost Mages who can Iceblock it out.

And I'm sorry if this comes across as "QQ", but in my opinion there's something wrong when a class can kill anyone from a whole set of classes without them even having a chance of retaliation. I mean, there's literally nothing a SPriest, Warlock, Non-Frost Mage or any other caster can do about this but wait to die. And this is a trainable skill now, not even a talent.

I hate this ability so much!! I didn't know about it till I went into a BG last weekend.
I didn't notice the shadowpriest like aura it gives, so I was like "what the F none of my spells work" till someone told me about this ability...

Good thing to know how it works now, so I can adjust my gameplan against rogues using this (if they haven't killed me fast enough already)

I'm an affliction lock. With 5 points in suppression and only +dmg and +crit gear (no spellhit or spellpenetration (or almost nothing, I'm not gearing that way, so if I have it, it's lower then 20)
I was able to put one or two dots on them when I kept spamming on my dot buttons in frustration...

hmm demo locks can, i guess. if they sac VW, instant summon felguard again, then try. sac prob wont hold up for 5 sec, but its enuf. use medallion trink break stun lock and then death coil and start from there?

Here is some help to those who are flippin out cause of CoS... if you got a non magic stun...use it. Any engineering bombs with stun should help. demonology warlocks could use the felguard intercept stun. its just something to think about when facing a rogue and have for that horrible 20sec. that your fighting the rogue.

This is blizz's way of making Rogues even more of an anti-caster class, way to over do it as ussual.

BTW if unstable affliction is removed with this, no dmg is taken as it is not dispelled, just removed.

Wow! I'm stunned... I just got owned three times by a lvl 70 horde rogue in full merciless utilizing this item. I knew he had me outgeared, but I refused to accept defeat. He continued to remove my DoTs, and I was sure he was exploiting a glitch. Then a guild member told me he was using a cloak of shadows. Having come here, researched this cape, and read these posts I am completely stunned. How is this item in the game? Why isn't 50% of the WoW population rogues? Why do people continue to say affliction locks own? I am now convinced that 99% of all people playing WoW have absolutely no clue. Because if they did, half of them would just roll a rogue and the other half would play anything but an affliction lock. Well, nothing I can do about it... time to go respec. But I would like to personally thank the dev who plays a rogue and wanted an item that made him 1337! GG!

Just shedding some light on this here...
For all of you that say rogues are overpowered you are ABSOLUTELY! correct. Not like all the other classes arent? putting that aside, cloak of shadows removes most DoTs and movement impairing affects. For you who say "rogues can stun through whole fight! nerf em!" you are stupid, all classes must be nerfed if one is nerfed. locks fear got nerfed to less than 10 seconds in PvP and mages polymorph.
Anyway of the one retarded post i saw saying " rogues just cheap shot then ss then gouge then cheap shot again then kidney shot, that stuns for whole fight!" you are a complete idiot, ss is not a stun, cheap shot can only be used in stealth, gouge has been nerfed to 1.5 seconds in PvP, kidney shot is correct though, but not like wer'e getting all free shots, like in between you wont try to do something? True poisons can make you slow but you still can fear/scatter shot/entangling root, and much more, making things worse, wer'e a melee class so if wer'e out of range wer'e screwed. L2P ppl, it's a game deal with it. Oh and read before you post, I hate reading your retarded crap.

SL/SL warlocks, Big Red Pet of Easyness for hunters, and now Cloak of EasyMode for rogues.
Well, rogue was a noob easy mode pvp class before, it's even more a unskilled noob easy mode pvp class now. No wonder a lot of "leet doods" play undead rogues

Cloak of Shadows doesn't remove bleed effects. But hey, it removes poisons and the like, so it's still a godsend to have.

I completely aplaud blizzard's attempt at strengthening the rogues. As a shadowpriest.. I really didn't have too much difficulty in killing a rogue, and they are pretty much the anti-caster class.

This... is just @#$%ing disgusting though. For the love of god, at least put a 10 minute cooldown on this, if you're going to leave it in.

5 Seconds is enough time for anyone to die from anythign in this game. Which is why stunning is as bad as it is. But to make it so that my only way to CC a rogue - aoe fear, can be dispelled instantly like 4 different times is retarded. Worst part is, not only is that dispelled, and the rogue is right back on me.. i cant do $%^& to him for 5 seconds.

Thus I die within a heartbeat.

Like i said, Im glad blizzard buffed rogues a little, for balance's sake... But you can't make them freaking gods against casters.

Come on.. Warlocks get Deathcoil, three types of fears, and DoTs.. all they have to do is kite. Mages just lock you in place, pop whatever into your face, and does insane damage. What the hell did rogues get? A 90% 5 sec immunity to magic based and poisons.

Blizzard's way of saying, "We know you're still there, Rogues.. but we're too busy nerfing Priests to do anything about Warlocks and Mages. Here's an ability that'll piss them off and demand a nerf!"

Cloak of shadows does not make rogues immune to physical effects like being shot, having a warrior bring his axe down on their head, or being riped apart by a druid who is bleeding them.

This leads me to ask the question: Why does cloak of shadows make rogues immune to my hunter's serpent sting? I have a bullet. It has poison in it. I shoot it into their body. Now there is poison physically coursing through their veins.

Now if the rogue pulls a magical purple cloak over his head that makes him 90% immune to magic, why would that suddenly change the fact that my poisoned bullet is still in his shoulder?

Poison isn't magical! There are things in real life like snakes to back me up on that statement... I think.

Immune to arcane shot? Ok that makes perfect sense. It is a magical bullet. Immune to serpent sting? NO!
