Surgeon Goblin's Warning: Death or Serious Injury Can Occur. Do not use while operating goblin devices or while under the effects of Darkmoon Special Reserve alcohol.
Gnomish Death Ray has ridiculous damage. I have seen level 39 gnomes crit with this for thousands. Rogues especially can combo this with gouge (if you have improved gouge). This way, the target is safely incapacitated while you charge up your huge burst of damage.

On my 60 mage i can use this and crit for 3k and take zero mana from the drain, because the damage is physical damage and is absorbed by mana shield. Good combo to hit someone in a frost nova.

Great PvP Trinket. I myself as a Paladin like to use it as a means of extra dps. Ive seen this thing crit for 5k damage before. It increases damage as you level up. Also as a paladin you can bubble and use the death ray and not get damaged which is always a plus.

A tactical way for a warrior could be that you use intimidating shout and then the trinket.

Same here for Priests. I bubble up and prime the ray and can do massive amounts of damage. So far my max was at level 50 against a level 43 Ogre doing 2,900 damage!!!

On mobs closer to my level I usually do around 800 damage.

Pair this trinket up with the goblin rocket launcher (go gnomish engineering, get deathray. Then change to goblin, get rocket launcher) and you've got a nasty surprise for any rogue that wants a piece of you in pvp.

from what ive seen, there seems to be a equation based on lvl and current health. Also from what ive seen in BG's, and Arenas, there seems to be a lower feedback, therefore a lower damage, on spellcasting classes. Weither or not this is intended or is due to the obvious diffrence in health, i do not know.

My though is that it does not increade with engeneering skill, but is a % equation. it probably drains somewhere between 3-5% health every second while charging, and than does that drained damage X 5.5 . Meaning depending on the class, race, spec, and gear can COMPLEATLY change the damage, and feedback. This would be the reason for the odd stories about insane damage. Also from talking to a GM, it has been verified that the reason for the pre-patch damage, was that the damage delt to yourself, each time, could crit. which, although the chance would be immensely small, could cause IMMENSE damage.Unfortunately i did not ask what was the exact fix to this issue, my best bet was not only makeing the feedback unable to crit, but a unknown percent decrease in damage again based on HP. This would stop super stamina pallyes, or war. to hit humongus damage.

This item kick ass.....my personal record is 1740 in dmg. If you can make it than do it. It has a cooldown for 5 min (I think it was)

Here's how it works. When ya use it, there's a 4 second casting time. during this time, you take damage each second. multiply the damage you take each second by 7 (weird number I know), and you've got an approximation of how much you're gonna do. So if you're taking 200 a second...look out. If it backfires, it doesn't do extra, just doesn't fire. 5min cooldown. Now, it may not seem worth it, but here's the thing. If it crits, it doesn't do extra damage to you, just a whopping amount to them. I've seen damage over 2k. So if there's a pesky mage or warlock you want to get rid of quickly, this can be great.

I've found that it works best in the hands of a class with high hp, since the damage doesn't affect them as much. good for hunters too, since it's a nasty surprise if someone gets inside your min. range expecting an easy time. Not so good for low hp classes. However, I have found that a priests holy shield negates the damage to the user, so they don't have quite so much of a problem.

You need to do the Quest for the Gnome Engineering, then you can make it ( Gnome master in Booty Bay can teach you )( If your already a Goblin Engineering, then too bad for you ) It's really imba ( Too good to be true. ) In a normal hit, around 1000 dmg and with my best crit, about 5500 dmg. I can just say one thing, ONE-HIT-KILL!

To: Naobie, the Gnome Engineering Trainer is also in tinker town. Alot safer, but he gives the same quest as the one in Booty Bay.

It's required 240 engineering to make and is NOT GNOMISH or GOBLIN. The schematic is available to both and is attained by a trainer.

There's a lot of confusion about this currently. There are basically four types of items that can be made by engineers:

BoE items that can be used by any engineer and traded.
BoP items that can be crafted by a specific specialization, but used by any engineer
Items that require a specific specialization to use.
BoP items that can be crafted by an engineer, but can be used even after engineering is dropped

Gnomish Engineering allows you to craft these items:

If your intent is to switch to Goblin after crafting all the goodies (by dropping and re-leveling Engineering), you should probably craft all of these items, but you must craft Gnomish Goggles, Gnomish Battle Chicken, Gnomish Death Ray, and Lil' Smoky (these are Bind on Pickup) or you will lose access to these items permanently (unless you drop and re-level Gnomish Engineering again.)

Ultrasafe Transporter: Gadgetzan and World Enlarger cannot be used by a non-gnomish engineer, so you can skip crafting these if you're planning on switching.

NOTE: Gnomish Death Ray doesn't require Engineering to use, so technically, you could level Engineering to craft this item, and drop it and still be able to use it.

Dimensional Ripper - Everlook cannot be used by a non-goblin engineer, so you can skip crafting these if you're planning on switching.
