Unfortunately you are probably going to replace any of these rewards fairly quickly. Most rogues choose the Ebon Mask as it looks cool, and takes the longest to replace.

On my PvP rogue I took the boots for the equip (as we roam in 3-5 man rogue packs and damage isn't the be all and end all), but most people won't want that type of thing.

As a rogue fairly far into the endgame, I'd encourage all rogues to take the Whisperwalk Boots. The mask, while it looks cool, is quickly replaced. The cape can be replaced with the parachute cloak if you are hankering for that slow fall effect. But a good pair of +Stealth boots are hard to come by. Great for PvP, and even PvE when you need to sneak around places that you might not normally be able to. Think long term and get the boots. Put a pair of spurs on them and keep them in your bag. Never know when they will come in handy.

The ebon mask is a little harder to replace than most people think for a casual non-raiding rogue. The AP and crit on the ebon mask makes it beter than Eye of Rend and in reality it is almost as good as the old rank 10 head peice.

The ebon mask will last you until you hit rank 10, or start doing ZG.

Believe it or not, once in a great while you will find a blue that is better than an epic. I'm not going to say that is the case here, but try to be a little more open minded that epics aren't always best.

And whats with all this talk about "everyone should pick this one, the other two are worthless and will be replaced"? Anything you have at lvl 52 will be replaced. Maybe some people like the look of the hood. I know that I put alot of priority on my looks. If the stats are lower, who cares? I don't die any more than I do wearing the best gear. If you're just giving friendly advice then fine. But try not to make it sound like you are saying they are noobs if they don't choose the one you did.

The problem I have with the ebon mask is that it offers nothing unique, while the boots offer something that is otherwise unattainable until naxx (I think some stealth boots drop there). With the advent of the new pvp system and the beginner dungeon changes, the simple damage of the mask seems lackluster. In the end, I guess it just comes down to personal preference, as it should.

The best choice imho is either the boots or the cape. The cape is more of a novelty thing, throw it on when you're jumping down to MC because you're too lazy to run the right way. The boots however, are VERY effective in PvP, and won't be replaced (as far as the +stealth bonus) until the tier .5 boots or a drop in Naxx. I say go for the boots, great any time you need to be extra sneaky.

Honestly, I would personally never encourage anyone to get the boots or the mask, simply because for non engineers the cape is the only item in the game that reduces damage from falls, and even if you are an engineer it doesn't make you fall slower, it just makes you take less damage. The cape coupled with the passive ability rogues already have is a very large percentage of saved health, I believe nearly 20% damage reduction from falls. That being said it might seem more a novelty item but if you start paying attention i'd be willing to bet that you'll see a lot of times you die from fall damage, and with that cloak, you might not have that issue. Places such as AB are a good example, not to mention those of us that have a bit of explorer in us, its great for getting to areas that might be.. shall we say, unusually hard to reach without such items.

Get the cape, the cape doubles the distance you can fall without taking damage and cuts the damage you take from falling in half. Nightscape boots are just as good as the whisperwalk ones and ebon mask will suck a few levels later anyways.

Unless you're able to tank both bosses simultaneously, I suggest using Vanish to pull Morhphaz alone.

To Vanish pull:

(1) Distract Morphaz close to you as shown in the video (to single him out).

(2) When Hazzas is on the other side of the room, use your x/bow/gun to shoot Morphaz, and run back a few paces.

(3) When Morphaz has reached you, and Hazzas is closing in -- Vanish. Both dragons will reset, but Morphaz will get there first (if you timed it right so Hazzas was farther away from his return point). Immediately shoot Morphaz again with your x/bow/gun (while Hazzas is still in Evade mode). This second shot requires careful timing!

(4) If successful, you will have pulled Morphaz alone.

Or you can do it the easy way and just do this quest while in a group and get some xp from the other mobs aswell!

I gave this some serious thought, and the mask definatley seems to be the reward for me. If you think about it, the boots, however handy may they be in pvp, are in most ways inferior to the defilers boots. The cloak has a very nice effect as well, but will it give you that extra edge you need when you are actually in combat?

is kind of a tough choice for me.
got a good lvl 49 monkey cloak, have Embrace of the Lycan, and lvl 48 Highlanders boots (AB).
for dps the mask owns with +36 atk power.
if you want imp stealth get 5 points in sub talents on the thing to reduce chance of detection imo.
the -fall damage is pretty pointless coz y do u ever need to jump off anything that high and rogues get reduced fall dmg anyway...

I'd suggest getting the Whisperwalk Boots. They're pretty helpful in most cases, specificaly 1v1 against another rogue. Also saves you 1-2 points in MoD so you can put 'em elsewhere (perhaps Dirty Deeds?).

I would only suggest the boots if you are twinking for 50-59 battlegrounds. The Master's Treads and other +stealth boots are readily available to level 70s and of course the mask is obsolete at level 57. The cape's effect remains unique at the time of this writing.

Those boots are good with the "Increase your effective stealth level by 1" but you can get better boots with better stats from Mara called "Albino Crocscale Boots" which has +20 agi, +5 stam and +5 nat resist, Get the back if you dont already have a better back but can be easily replaced later levels and the head aswell. Suggest you go with the Head, nice +14 crit rating and attack power.

its simple: get the cape! the mask as said before will be replaced sooner than later. for example, this helm https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=21317 is the one i took so i didnt waste the cape, the boots can be replaced simply by overpowering stats....but the cape will be original for the rest of the game (considering ur not an engineer, and rogues and engineering dont mix.) point is u wont see a 70 with any of these items equiped for using in combat, the only thing u will rarely see on a 70 rogue is the Duskbat Cape.

I'm amazed it hasn't been brought up yet, but if you want +Stealth, you can still take the cape, then have it enchanted for the effect. Same increase (+5 to stealth), and you get both effects. Admittedly, this will cost you money for mats (unless you happen to be an Enchanter/Herbalist yourself), but it makes the cloak multi-purpose.

This was probably one of those most fun quests that are class specific. The reward was great, and I still have it at level 59. (I chose the boots, since the others weren't a great improvement from what I had.)

Finding the two dragons in the instance was a little bit tough, but we got there pretty easily. I don't know if it was a glitch or not, but for me, the key dropped off Hazzas instead of Morphaz. Possible nerf?

The actual instance yielded a lot of experience, so in itself, this quest was extremely worthwhile to do right away, at level 50.

Head is definitely obsolete in Outlands with any green drop ment for rogue (like https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=24713 - "of the Bandit" version)
Cloak is one of the rare "parachute" items in game (don't know if it is unique, but it sure is rare)

So, cloak will last longer than the alternatives, and it does offer very valuable "passive ability" for a rogue (to boost Safe Fall https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/spell=1860 ), since even smallest damage from fall breaks stealth.

But it is true that people stick to the "color" more than to the attributes, which can often mislead them. Looks are important for me too, I even wear https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=23909 around the city sometimes :)

Morphaz itself is easy enough as 59 rogue, but I can't seem to pull him alone so it gets kinda hairy when hazzas joins in... And even then I got Morp to like 100hp and died :|

Just as an update for everyone - it seems like you can no longer use the lovely idea posted above. I saw that and I was excited to think I'd be able to get the needed mob solo.

Unfortunately, they've linked the two mobs per another post I found. So, even when they reset, if you shoot again you get both. In my experience... this = bad ju ju ;)

I was surprised, but this was easily soloable as a level 62 Rogue, given the power of Outlands greens.

Stat-wise, any of these items are severely underpowered, but I plan on taking the Cloak for the Safefall effect =)

And that is why those with no interest in looks always end up with the coolest and best gear. Prudence ftw!

Seriously though, Blizzard isn't always spot on with item appearances so always trying to look good will eventually get in the way of being at the top of your game at some time or another. (Has anyone seen a Tauren in the Embrace of the Viper set? *shivers*) And I've noticed that, especially as a rogue, the only way to look unique is to wear the things that everyone else doesn't consider "cool looking" for a rogue. I mean, yea, Blood Elf Bandit Mask does look pretty cool, but who doesn't have it? (Or the imitation?)

If you really want to be smart about this, you would get the cloak. If you want the mask because of pure looks, there are be plenty of other BA rogue masks that sort of match its style, and many that look cooler. The boots are good and would be a bit of help, but most people by now should be comfortable with the nuances of stealth to not really need the stealth level 1 increase (at least all the rogues I know). If you still want the boots, take a look at the list in the comments on this page...
-Stealth Boots List-

The cape is a wise investment for a few reasons...
I. It stacks with safe fall (which apparently lets you fall from the cliffs in AB and still keep stealth);
II. Unlike Paracute Cloak or the Skyguard's Drape, the effect is constantly applied (Equip effect);
III. And also unlike the above two cloaks, you do not need 225 Engineering or Revered status with the Sha'tari Skyguard for use.

These three reasons should be enough to convince anyone to get the cloak. It's just the fact that, like many have already said, it has lasting value, and is relatively unique for how easy it is to acquire. The other items are just not that unique. However, if you really want the mask or boots, its your loss (lets just hope if you're in my battlegroup your an ally lol :)

I have 3500hp, used Mass of Mcgowan main and Heartseeker in off. 1 nightslayer item, rest blues. 23% to crit, 610 attack power.

used 1 thistle tea, 1 major heal pot, +25agi pot, +25 str pot, +450 armor pot (no other outside buffs).

Preparation/CB specced.

Just use distract to take him away from the other one, they are linked so other guy will come immediately, just aggro once he's n the other side to buy time. Pull with ranged or ambush towards Eranikus, fight in that little nook and you won't get knockbacked. 2x evasion and 2x cold blood will do the trick, although it was pretty close. (1st try).

PS. He is immune to blind and instant poison, so don't bother.

I find the posts above saying that Morphaz is soloable very hard to believe. As a 56 rogue with better stats than listed above, I got completely owned, getting Morphaz to only half health, it wasn't even close.

The two dragons hit for 300 each, plus they have special attacks for another 300 plus a long-lasting DoT. I would like to see a 56 rogue solo this.

Starting with the Oozes. Pick pocket them, then Kill them. Suprised the hell out of me when I Pick pocketed one!

Big Bad Dragon. Duo This, Distract Morphaz and un load on him when the other dragon gets o bit away. They are linked so no amount of distance will allow you to pull her solo. They are immune to Poison :(

Just got done soloing Morph after my 3rd attempt. My gear is mostly blue with a few epics, my HP around 3800. Combat spec 20/31 with DalRend set.

First time I went in unprepared. After sneaking to the dragons, I distracted Morph, garroted and proceeded to beat him down. Got him to 25% health before I died.

Second time, I had Greater nature absorbtion potions on me and I equiped my lifestone. Again I distracted, proceeded to beat him down to 5% health before I died .. lifestone healed me for 306hp (6 over the minimum) =( .. their normal hits were between 250 and 300 damage with crits at 500+

Third time again I had greater nature absorb, since the cooldown on my lifestone wasnt up, I equiped my gnomish shrinkray. Once again .. distracted, garroted and proceeded to beat him down. As my evasion was wearing off I hit the shrinkray and that knocked Morph's average hits down from 250-300ish to 160-200ish. This did the trick as I finished off Morph, vanished out and hid in that little alcove that seperates the 2 rooms. Ran back and looted when Haz was at farthest distance.

One thing I noticed .. the Greater nature protection potion was overkill, their acid breath did not eat through it the 2nd or 3rd time. You can prob get away with the normal ones (much cheaper too)

But it isn't very pretty, and depends on a whole lot of luck combined with the willingness to die a lot and use expensive potions each time around. BTW, since you cannot use poisons, at least put sharpening stones on.

The especially lucky aspect for me the last time around (besides getting good to-hit and damage rolls) was that I laid a Rupture on it, then died, but one tick of the rupture was enough to kill Morphaz before it returned to health. That was my best run and without rupture I would still have not killed it.

On the other hand I was freaking out that the corpse would decay before I got back. It didn't and actually stayed a bit after. Must be a mistake on Blizzard's part, they put the graveyard too close to the instance. :D

I've been looking in the sunken temple in Swamp of Sorrows and also entered the instance there inside the temple, but I can't find Morphaz.

So, this is still doable, however, I used a different strategy. I used the same strat I use to solo Lord Incendris in BRD, for farming the Ace of Elementals. I have a 22/3/26 Hemo build.

So, same deal, nature protection pots, etc. etc. all the usual buffs. Distract, just to stop movement. Stealth up, and opened with Hemo, then 4 more hemo's to get 5 combo points. Vanish.

Then step out of agro rang, (the little nook) But make sure not to deselect Morphaz, you have to keep these 5 combo points on him. Once you're all healed up, food buff etc. Down your nature protection pot. Wait 2 minutes. Then drink a Magic Resistance pot. (it lasts 3 minutes but the cooldown is 2, so If you wait 1:45 before going in, you'll be able to drink a healing pot before the fight's over as well. The magic res pot. will give you an additional +50 to all resistances.)

Distract again, open with ambush (if you have imp ambush/oppertunity). Directly follow your ambush opener with a 5 point expose. Then launch in to him. give him everything you got. With the ambush opener, prep and 2 cold blood evis's, he's pretty much dead if you land them. once he died, I looted him, vanished, and waited 10 minutes. Then I went in to kill the other guy, using the same method.

Opening with a 5 point expose is key. It makes your cold blood evis's rock.

Felhide Cap > Ebon Mask and Felhide cap is easy to do stealth runs for. Go for the boots, and put a minor speed enchant on them, they're great for PVP, you'll have a better chance on getting the opener on another rogue, and you'll be able to sneak around better, super ninja style.

i thought this would be pretty useless compared to the boots and its increased stealth level. but its actually good.

id say that out of the three, the mask is totally crap. theres easily an upgrade out there.
the boots are good, but it does interfere with your set bonuses.
overall, id take the cape. it doesnt interfere with any rogue sets (SC/NS/BF) and its actually saved my life when falling and needing to stay stealthed.
well it saved my flash powder...

not many hostile players follow an invisible player off a cliff :p

On a side note, the Ebon Mask is really the only worthwhile quest reward. The boots from Maraudon and pretty much any "of Agility" cloak can replace the other two rewards.

Well i would go for the Cape, everything else will be changed anyway, when you obtain the quest at ~52 you'll get other/better items with lvl 60. The cloak however is a nice gimmick to have, just because it has a unique ability.

Both are linked and fly in a circle together now. Intended the kill-Morphaz-and-vanish method. I tried distract and that did nothing... I couldn't even get close enough to cheap shot without him spotting me... couldn't do it from behind as they're too fast for me in stealth. Got 25% damage on morphaz and had to vanish. Of course I'm only level 52... don't solo unless you're way higher. You may as well do this with the rest of the ST quests in a full group if you're going to do it at my level.

this chain quest is easy, the only hard part is deciding which reward to choose

i got the boots, and i'm happy because the next day ghostshroud dropped (being the only leatherwearer in the group i got it)

did the quest at 50, i'm 55 now and i still have the boots, but i wear ghostshroud so i'm happy with my decision

....nobody gets the cape.....i use my level 45 seargents cape with +3 agil enchant on it, it works fine, i plan on getting cloak/cape of the black baron

I tired this serveral times and everytime Hazzas would turn around just after I shot Morphaz. I'm guessing they fixed this :(

What I did:

1. Distracted Morphaz
2. Waited for Hazzas to reach other side of room
3. Bow pulled Morphaz
4. Waited till both we're in melee range
5. Vanished
6. Shot Morphaz before Hazzas got to his reset .
7. Recieved beating by BOTH.

Can some please verify this does or doesnt work now, plz?

Whoever said the cape is worthless is wrong. Out of that set, that's the one you want. Trust me. Stealth boots come again, I have another pair at lvl 60 that are better than those boots, the helm is to laugh at.

However, you will find plenty of times when falling is best or just easier to get around and you don't want to break stealth. The safe fall helps and this will help even more. I mean on a constant basis when going to searing gorge, I land, turn around and jump right off the cliff on my mount. Or when in LBRS and we are done with the last boss, we come back to the Ogre area and jump off.

Actually it was funny, this one time the only low lvl in our group (a hunter) followed me cause I was ahead of everyone and there is a beam you can drop onto before dropping all the way down, so I landed on that, no damage. Then went down again and like a second after I dropped he hit the ground and died, I took no damage or little if I did lol.

I wouldn't wear this cape constantly, only when I'm dropping. I have the Baron cap and I'm quite happy with it.

And at this lvl, I'm just going to get a couple of my guildies and monkey stomp ST :\ I could probably kill both the dragons by myself cause I have blade flurry/Cold Blood but eh, rather get some loot drops. Or even this: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=21782/2000-test-sword-63-blue

Though I have dal'rend's MH now.

edit: also when just stealing to certain targets in instances, it is safer o quicker (or just an emergency) you can drop off something.

Hemm... boots or mask?... what should we get?... well its just the way you are spect if you have a high crit % already I would say keep stacking it with the mask.. if you dont plan on haveing a high crit %, and like to sneek every where then get the boots..

Like I said before... I try as a rogue to have as much Agility as I can get... so if 1% crit= 24 agility, then its like the mask has

+11 to stam
+24 to agility
and + what ever to strength to get a +36 attack power

so the bonuse for the mask is what I look for when I build a rogue... and way more bonuse then the boots

The dragon you speak of is located in The Temple of Atal'Hakkar in the Swamp of Sarrows. If you've been reading the thread, the only people solo'ing this dragon are 60's, so at 50, you'd definitely need another rogue and probably a druid to tackle just the dragon without a group. Everyone could stealth up to where he is located. Check out an instance map to.

After wandering aimlessly through the forests of Azshara for hours, tracking down encoded fragments, this part of the quest is easy. Just round a decent ST group and take out the required boss, it is one of the easier ones there.

The Parachute Cloak has a 30min cooldown, usable only for 10sec and need 30 sec to activate when equipped. So suppose you're in a hurry (let's say, chased by horde) and need to jump off a cliff to escape and don't have the cloak equipped, well.... screwed.

i think that people should get the cape. Sure, stat wise its the worst item, but ur never gonna get an opportunity like this again. In probably a week, if u try hard enough, u could probably get something better than the quest rewards anyways. Plus with the safe fall passive ability that u already have, ur gonna be avoiding a lot more damage now

The cloak is the only ideal reward here. The mask and boots will be replaced very quickly in Outlands, probabaly right at or shortly after 60. The cloak, on the other hand, has a fall mod, which is pretty much non-existant unless you are an Engineer. This allows me to get a parachute cloak as an Enchanter/JC. Cloak is the only permanent item here, and such the only item that will last in the long run, just like the trinkets on other class rewards vs their gear.

I can't stand it when people call others idiots for not doing/choosing what they think is best....personally I am going for teh mask, stamina, nice crit mod and attack power is just what I am looking for. I have highlander leather boots from AB pvp rewards, and I have a better cloak (sure the reduced fall damage is nice but hardly something that you are going to benefit from every fight you take part in) so the mask is the perfect choice being the only item that is better than what I already have....Point I am trying to make is just because YOU would choose the cape or boots, doesn't make people who take the mask idiots! - this post was directed at Tyran0 who said people who choose the mask are idiots, he probably missed his bedtime glass of milk, or mummy denied him a cookie :(

Directions to Morphaz in the 1st yellow post are a little understated. First, go in the instance and take an immediate left to go up a long flight of spiral stairs. At the top of the stairs is a short corridor filled with dragon whelps. Just past them the corridor turns left and there is the "room with a large hole in the middle": those of a more investigative nature might be interested to know that this is the PIT OF SACRIFICE. (Hint: don't jump in the hole.) There are mobs everywhere (including bloodhounds who can easily sniff out stealthed rogues, so stay clear!) At the opposite (southern) end is a relatively small room where Morphaz and his inseparable buddy are flying in circles.
Insanely challenging for a soloist: two elite dragons, 54 & 55, who can't be blinded, sapped, distracted, or otherwise separated. I'd recommend getting a partner or a group. Nature protection is a must too, because the dragons have heinous breath attacks.
Rewards are all good, but a real sneaky rogue would want the cape for its unique falling protection: Duskbat Drape FTW!

I got all of those from the Mosshoof Courses in less than 15 minutes and i killed oozes for like 2 hours and got nothing so i reccomend to kill Mosshoof Courses

This was a fun quest series for a lvl 60 rogue. I soloed it all the way through making it a genuine rogue quest. No help needed as it should be if you're lvl 60. Doh! I was very lucky with the first two parts of the quest. Pickpocketed the bag from the second shaman and got the pages from Forest Oozes in about 40 minutes as there were no competition around. For the last part requiring to kill lvl 52 elite drake Morphaz in Sunken I was thinking about getting help from my rogue friend but while waiting for him to come out of BRD I decided to give it a shot by myself.

Morphaz is flying circles with his pal Hazzas in a large room. I carefully examined their flight path and then positioned myself stealthed near it. I waited them to pass me and threw distract to my left to caught Morphaz's attention. If you time and place it right, Morphaz will stop by his tracks but Hazzas will happily keep flapping his wings forward (if they both stop to wonder the distraction, just wait distract CD to finish and try again). Now that Morphaz was awestruck, I waited for Hazzas to fly as far from him as possible and then attacked Morphaz. Hazzas will come flying back to help his friend but it's important you get a few seconds alone with Morphaz. This gives you advantage in the fight. Have a major healing potion ready and it's good idea to buff you up before the fight with potions, scrolls or food you happen to have and sharpening stones (the twin drakes are immune to poisons). After all, you’re dealing with two drakes attacking you. As in all fights, luck plays a big part so if it's not going well, just vanish (even though the drakes' acid breath DOT may be on you, it breaks off the fight for you to back off and hide yourself) and after CD try again. Now, you are busy slashing bits off Morphaz and even though both him and Hazzas are snapping atcha, you'll eventually emerge victorious (I have a combat build so I have no troubles in dealing great damage in in-your-face fight). After Morphaz is down, vanish to break Hazzas off you, back off and wait for a chance to loot Morphaz. And there you have it! The azure key!

I chose Ebon Mask as my reward as it's actually usable for a lvl 60 character unlike the boots or the cloak. And it looks cool too. Gives you better AP than SC cap or NS cover. You’ll lose AGI but slap +8 AGI enchant to it and it doesn’t feel too bad.

If you don't take the cape its because you suck. The cape is the only choice with any longivity. Any of these items, stats wise, will be replaced VERY quickly with Outlands, since lvl65 greens rival lvl60 Epics. This means that reuseables dominate. Likewise, there are 0 cloaks with a fall mod 60-70, so the cape is the only choice that retains a point 60+, and as such, it is the only choice here for me. Its the same reason to choose the trinkets on the other class quests instead of the crappy items that get replaced quickly. I imagine that with this cloak+safe fall, I could jump off gigantic cliffs and not get touched, which means stealth won't break, keep in mind that at 70 you fly.

Bottom line, Mask or Boots won't last 10minutes past lvl60, but the cape is forever, making it the best choice. There are better head items, and other boots post 60 with stealth mods, but there are no cloaks, once so ever, with a safe fall mod.

Laugh at all the newb rogues that choose the Mask just to be cool.

I got the drape for no other reason than to test the fall damage reduction.

The first place I jumped from was a hill near ravenhold.

1243 without
623 with

The next test from the platform at undercity.

1223 without
1235 without
714 with
725 with

Test from flight tower outside ogrimmar

179, 172, 170, 166, 163, 170, 175 without

Never took damage with the Drape.

So hopefully this gives you some idea of what it does for you in terms of fall damage. You can definitly fall futher and not take any damage so you can stay hidden. It is the only thing that does anything for your ability to fall in the game at present.

the ghostshroud has much more armor and stamina, but slightly less attack power. it has 19 agility, which gives it a much better dodge bonus. i'm not sure what the calculation for crit chance is, but i'm guessing that 19 agility is close to +1%. also, you can wear the ghostshroud at level 52, which beats the level 57 requirement of shadowcraft.

Few Informations for you.
1% crit for rogue is about 27 Agi.
In that case Ebon Mask smash your beloved Ghostshroud.
Ghoustshroud has 1 more Attack Point. That's little difference.
Dodge % isnt important in instance, and in PvP too (Warriors overpower.. -.-")
So Ebon Mask is much better than crappy Ghostshroud. (And Ebon Mask is a little better than Shadowcraft, I checked both)

The ebon mask is nice for its atk pwr, i'll give it that, but i would rather take the boots. Think about how quickly you will replace the ebon mask for atk pwr gained by agil. Agil also gives you armor rating, chance to dodge, chance to crit in addition to attack power. Can you say atk pwr or str gives you all that alone?

Now why i choose the boots, how many items do you see with +1 stealth? Perhaps only nightscape boots, maybe a few more. That defiently comes in handy for both pvp and pve. They will maintain usefulness on throughout the game until you find more + to stealth from a set or from boots. I don't plan on using them all the time since i plan on having my class tier sets, but they will definitly stay in my inv in the cases that i will need them.

Me and 60 rogue friend (with these boots) went to the UC to pick a fight after figthing off hordies near SM, the horde rogues couldn't see him where as he could see them (the brief clear coated stealth versions of course)! I don't recall the stealth formula but you have essentially up to lvl 300 stealth like anything else, you chance to be seen is your stealth lvl vs their lvl is some form or fashion. Which at 60, your capped, with master of deception and these boots (+ your stealth lvl 4 i believe is the highest) you can own your fellow rogues and stay out of the fight in the instances!

So thats my reasoning for the boots. You see that people? I didn't tell anyone else how to play THEIR char, and didn't tell them to reroll or any other childish b.s. Give your opionion and get off it. Have fun guys!

i dont get why lvl60s are wearing this instead of the shadowcraft hat. 20 agility should almost be 1%crit, and the 20agi+13str=33ap, only 3 points short of this mask. this is with the higher hp, and armor/dodge that also comes off agility. what it would come down to, to me, would be rather or not I have the shadowcraft yet. this mask is doable quest right in 50s, but shadowcraft head is rare drop from boss in scholo. then there is the problem of other rogues. there are 3-4 in every raid, more then other class's.

shadowcraft boots and many other items are clearly better then stats on those boots, master of deception rank6/7 isn't worth loss of stats.. if i valued stealth over stats, i would have been a night elf instead of human.

cape is the biggest loss here. slow fall is the last thing a lvl60 is gunna care about. the only combat use i can think of that is for the baron boss fight in MC where boss shoots you high in the air after making you the bomb... but any high lvl with sense is gunna wear oxy scale cloak with fire resist enchant, or something with stats still. other uses might be for jumping over wall from tanaris-> ungoro, but it probabaly won't be enough to prevent death anyway. another use might be for when your engineering teloporter fails and drops you in the sky... but any engineer using that should already have parachute cloak instead. click that right before ground and take 0 dmg, rather then slightly reduce fall dmg and still die.

my recommendation? take mask untill you can get shadowcraft cap. don't consider the other 2 if you know you will have hell of time getting shadowcraft cap, they aren't worth it.

but none of these are worth a lvl60s time. they need to give rogue a REAL quest with a REAL reward at lvl60. they need to give us an epic quest with an epic reward, like priest/paladin/hunter/warrior have. im glad they finnaly put raven faction to use and gave us another class quest, but still nothing for a lvl60. i hope they are adding that next.

Ebon Mask is simply the best blue rogue hat for PvE. And if you DO have Ebon Mask, theres no need to farm for Ghostshroud/Shadowcraft cap since... well... they aren't better than Ebon Mask, they merely have slightly different stats.

At least, that was the case up until recently, when Darkmantle upgrade became available...

I will still choose the Ebon Mask over the cape and boots, simply because i will in all probability use it until i get Darkmantle Cap, which means a good 10 levels from lvl50, when i get the Mask. Whereas I will replace the boots rather soon, with Pads of the Dreadwolf (stealthable farm), and the cape with... well... ive seen green AH cloaks with better stats. And of course eventually the upgrade to Cape of the Black Baron.

Solo'd this last part of the Quest today. Killed both Dragons together. Get yourself Priest/Druid buffs, a Major Healing Potion, and a Thistle Tea. I offtanked Hazzas with "Barov Peasant Caller" once he got to me from the other side of the big room. Killed Morphaz first and then Hazzas. Not easy, but possible :).

It would be a naive move to choose anything other than the Duskbat Drape if you are serious player. The cape has even more uses now at level 70 where you can fly up to enemies in outlands, dismount 20 yards above them, hit stealth and it won't break when you land with this cape on. All you have to do is click one button to quickly switch back to your normal cape before you use an opener. The enemy will never see you coming. That, along with all the useful applications of this cape at any level (whereas the mask and boots quickly get upgraded) make it the only choice for intelligent players.

The helm is almost equal to shadowcraft helm, but NOT nightslayer. nightslayer gives you 2.5% or so to crit, 26 attack power, some chance to dodge *dont remember how much agi to 1% dodge*, 180 life, and +10 fire resist. this only gives 36 attack power, 110 life, and 1% chance to crit. its nice but no where near nightslayer.

I've read in this thread numerous times that this cape is the only one in the game to reduce damage on falling, this is simply not true, any engineer can use "Parachute Cloak" which slows your fall for 10 seconds and allows you to jump from ANY height provided you deploy it at the correct moment.

As a level 60 rogue with plenty of epics, I'm still going back and doing this quest for the cloak. The only equivalent in the game is parachute cloak, which I have but find annoying due to the 30 minute cooldown, and having to wait 30 secs before using it.

A passive ability that can keep me alive with a slight loss to stats for a few minutes seems worth it too me. It's the same as using a rocket helm or MC helm.

As a 63 Rogue that never actually did this quest until now, it should be noted that Morphaz is completely soloable, and took me about 5 minutes to get to, and kill (although without a health potion, i had to vanish to not be killed by his friend) I was laughing all the way back to Lord Ravenholt. Now I get my cape!

Stealthed this last part of the quest series last night. 3 rogues and a druid. Took all of 15 minutes lol. Took the boots as we will be stealthing DM for the cap Felhide Cap tonight or tomorrow. This whole quest chain was easy, quick and interesting. The rewards are kinda weak but I liked it all.

To the poster below that says we got cheated because all the items will be upgraded. Well its a lvl 52 quest. It isnt going to have endgame gear but I get your point. Coulda been better stats on all 3 choices.

The rogues got cheated on the sunken temple quests, none of these are all that great, all of them will be upgraded..

The ebon mask will be upgraded first, then the boots, then the cape.

The boots still have the usefulness of +1 stealth level, though, but I strongly recommend the cape.

The cape is unique in that it reduces falling damage, you will find uses for it later on most likely, just to switch on and off, even later on endgame.. but not much. Thing is, it at least has SOME use. The stats on it are also very nice, and it will probably the last item you upgrade of these.

all the rewards arent that good, still i'm going to take the mask, all of them are easily replaced by running instances like scholo or strat, the boots are IMO even worse than albino crocoscale boots that drop in mara, duskbat cape < cape of black baron, and ebon mask can be compared with sc cap, it's got nice ap and +1 crit but sc cap basically gives almost equal stats + more stamina.

For those interested, Ebon Mask is 41 AEP; Ghostshroud and Shadowcraft are both 47 AEP. Darkmantle is 64.
The Whisperwalk Boots are 25 AEP; SC boots are 32 and a pair of green Mighty Boots of the Monkey are 30.
The Duskbat Drape is 16 AEP; AV honored reward cloak is 25 and the best green (Masterwork Cape of the Monkey) is 21.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about: take a look here and here.
Note that this of course ignores the special abilities of the boots and cloak, but should give you an idea of overall effectiveness.

As a feral druid (mainly dps and tank bound), I have feline grace.. Allowing me to fall in cat form from great heights taking no damage just as the cape allows. I chose the mask for the crit rate boost and the ap increase. Plus, it looks sweet as hell.

So apparently since I want the mask I'm stupid? But I think you are stupid for jumping off of cliffs. I mean that's great for you that you're too lazy to find an alternative route to take but I can deal with it :) and take the mask.

And also since no one else posted anything about the guy he is a dragon in the Sunken Temple which you could have figured out by clicking on the related mobs link ;). He walks around with another dragon as well. Go to the circular room with a hole in the middle. Then head south. You'll find him and Hazzaz pathing together. Hopefully I'm some help :)

Umm n e tard that thinks nightslayer is better than this just because it's epic get ur facts straight. That has more over all attack power than nightslayer. This has 36 attack power whereas nightslayer only has like 29(might be off). This only has a few less sta which isn't really important, and it only has one less crit chance, which doesn't make too much of a difference if u have imp ambush like u should and all u really are lookin for is AP for hugs crits on ur ambushes, and on ur evises. BTW u can also use cold blood on evises and ambushes. This is better bottom line. If u really want to pwn in duels u get cold blood imp evis, imp ambush, prep, 5 out of 5 MoD, and a couple in camo. What u do is walk around spammind Cheap shot untill u get him targeted, use sap, open with a cold blood ambush, gouge, hemmorage, sinister strike, switch to sword prep cold blood evis, walla u win. other wise this build is also good for PvP and this head piece is indeed better than nightslayer.

Duo'd this quest with a 60 NE Warrior (who happens to have the rank 14 PvP items).

He used his gnomish invisibility cloak to sneak by the mobs and then used Shadowmeld. Once we were in the Morphaz room, I distracted to pull them apart, and he charged Morph. Full DPS, he dropped pretty quick. Am now the proud owner of an Ebon Mask ;)

I levelled my warlock more than one and a half years ago, and on the warlock quest i (along with nrly every other lock) picked the scythe weapon because it looked cool.

2 months later i had disenchanted it. Forever to this day i wish i had picked the trinket. Free voidwalker summons actually pwn very hard now that you can only get soul shards from the outlands and very few places in old WOW.

What has this got to do with rogue i hear you ask. Well as im levelling rogue and on this quest i didnt want to make the same mistake i made with my lock. Instantly i think to myself "Wow, the headpiece looks imba". But actually thinking about it the outlands is all about flying and heights etc etc. Falling from a nice height without breaking stealth and ganking someone is infinately more fun than wearing the headpiece and walking around ironforge thinking your cool.

In summary -

Headpiece - looks cool, will get replaced very quickly
Boot - Nice stats whilst you level, +1 stealth pfft just drink an alchemy flask to increase stealth.
Cape - Looks cool also, and is the only object of the three that will last you until wow dies.

There is no other choice than the cape for me.

its not bad an the reduce is bether then the skill and its staks and give 14 agil nod bad so it dasent break stelth when you fall from high places. stil you can fall from hier places when the slofal dosent reduche all the dm... still i lost the bet :) it doasen reduce all the Dm complitly so its not that imba :).

i think thunderhead patriarchs may be taking up these slimes' spawn points. I've read some posts on it, and decided to try it.

first 30 mins, found around 5 slimes running in circles at the appointed spots (provided by posters). next 3-4 hours, nothing. Killed 3 thunderhead patriarchs, the slimes started to appear.

I dunno if the other mobs have any connection with these slimes' spawn rate tho.

Edit: i continually killed patriarchs.
Edit1: woo! 10 minutes after i started exterminating patriarchs, i got all 10 pieces... !@#$ yeah!

incase it hasnt been said... there are two big dragons that roam in a circular path on the outer rim of the main chamber, take a pally and a priest in your st group, kill the dragons, then hand the quest completion back in at ravenholdt, dont go back to azshara, and fyi I took the mask, ghostshroud looks better but imo ebon has way better stats. Dont be a dork and take the cloak cause at 70 you might want to jump off your bird and not take damage. The agi on the cloak is good but its not a unique amount really, and seriously, what normal person wait around on a cliff just so they can drop off it in stealth....

I picked the Cape because there are boots that can be crafted that give the stealth bonus, and if TBC comes to classic there are further boot upgrades then that give stealth bonus

For those curious about how good the cape is: A fall with it made me lose about 1.2k health, and a fall from about the same height was about an extra 800 health loss

A previous commentator mentioned how useful it is during TBC because you can dismount from a flying mount in mid air and not break stealth, it must have been from a VERY small height, because this cliff I jumped from wasn't very high and I still be losing my stealth.

I intend to take the cloak and put a subtlety enchant on it as part of my "cheap death" stealth set. I often solo into dungeons on herbing, pickpocket, and chest runs, and this is a practical item that is cheap to repair if you intentionally die to reset. This assumes you aren't going in with more optimal gear for soloing elites or bosses, etc.
