When it comes to your reward choices there are a couple of things to consider.

In my opinion, the Hunting Spear is probably the least useful of the three items. Weapons themselves will eventually become outdated, to begin with, as people level up, especially with the upcoming expansion. Also, if one truly wants a decent spear, many hunters go and get the Ice Barbed Spear (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=19106) which is a reward if you win ONE battle in Alterac Valley. This spear has better overall stats, in my opinion, than the Hunting Spear, as it has an abundance of agility as well as stamina.

This brings it down to the last two items. Now if you are a Marks or Surv hunter, the Devilsaur Eye is clearly the best choice for you. However, I'm not certain if there are other trinkets more useful than this for Marks/Surv hunters, so please make a comment if you believe there is.

Being a BM hunter, I instinctively went for the Devilsaur Tooth. I have no doubt in my mind that this trinket is one of the best for hunters with this spec. It's highly useful for opening attacks, especially if one has a cat. A cat put into Prowl, with the Devilsaur Tooth buff, as well as triggering Bestial Wrath the moment before it reaches the intended target means a strong critical opening attack that will proc Frenzy instantly.

This will become especially useful when the expansion pack is released. One of the new BM abilities is Ferocious Inspiration. It means that when your pet scores a critical hit, all party members have their damage output increased by 1-3% for 10 seconds.

When this quest was first available, all the way to the release of AQ40, there were no replacements for the Devilsaur Eye, and any hunter who took the spear found it quickly replaced, and any hunter who took the Devilsaur Tooth quickly found that it was useless in raids, and nominal in PvP. However, with the release of AQ40, Naxx, and the expansion, there are several replacements for the Devilsaur Eye. Examples being: Badge of the Swarmguard, Drake Fang Talisman, Jom Gabber, Kiss of the Spider and Slayer's Crest. Even outside of raids, the Earthstrike trinket from the Cenarian Circle replaces the Devilsaur Eye.

However, nothing in the game replaces the Devilsaur Tooth. So, if you are a hunter that has not yet chosen your reward, it is probably in your best interest to get the Devilsaur Tooth. Even in the expansion, there is not a replacement for this item.

I agree with the top posters. I for one went for the hunting spear and now hit my head against a wall for doing so. Go for one of the trinkets, whichever you find most suitable for you...

The Devilsaur Eye is probably the best reward out of them all. Trinkets arent easy to come by for hunters.

There are no "good" epic trinkets before getting to AQ40 so the Devilsaur eye is probably your best bet here.

The best of the set is the eye, no question in my opinion, however, what's this about no good trinkets for hunters? Before you start raiding, you should have your DM trinket (book isn't that expensive) and Blackhand's Breadth from the quest chain in UBRS. The eye is great for fights when you need serious burst DPS (I use it twice in the Rag fight personally) but your other standard trinkets should be DM and BB

Is this still the truth with BC out now? I know there are two seperate better trinkets than the eye you can get in Outland. Bladefist's Breath and Mark of Conquest. Both easy to obtain. I realise that they are 8 and 10 levels higher than the eye you obtain here. But does this effect the need for the eye over the tooth? There still is no trinket I know of that enhances Pet crit rate in BC.

Try and find party members familiar with how to get to the instance

After you enter the instance in the temple, take the left hand steps up to the top. You are then faced with a group of dragons. Handle them and keep going straight until you reach the large room full of dragons.

Make your way left, (your group killing mobs as required) and find the room with the two dragons flying around the room.
Kill and loot.

Well! If the hunter got brain, you take the Xbow from AV, NOT the spear.. then you take the spear:) and you keep it untill you get better, probally not before outlands.... the trinkets it's crap anyways... if you are a BM hunter.. the pet can strike hard, but it will critt without the trinket too, and often.. my pet critt all the time, not rare at all!... You get a better trinket than Devilsaur Eye in Honor hold at lvl 58 or 60..can't rember.. so, all hunters who know how to play, take the spear!!! :D

I think there's too many arguments that exist on the premise of an item being "irreplaceable". It's said also for the warlock quest, with one trinket being pretty much unique and the other two items being eventually replaceable. But that trinket is a 30 minute cooldown free void walker. My problem with taking the "irreplaceable" trinket is that odds are you're not going to wear the thing at higher levels even if you can't replace it. What it does simply isn't special enough to matter.

In this case we have the Eye versus the Tooth. The polearm is pretty bad, nice crit, but while leveling your crit isn't terribly high to begin with. Greens at least increase your AP while they're at it. The Tooth gives a free crit on your pet's next attack. Now, if you're MM, or Survival, this doesn't really matter, your pet isn't a huge amount of your DPS and a crit other then the minor extra damage (especially if it's a claw or bite rather then a melee swing) is tiny. But if you're BM, you're looking at Ferocious Inspiration and Frenzy both procing every crit.

The problem exists that your pet simply can maintain both up a ridiculously large amount of the time without the trinket. Particularly after the first crit, frenzy helps increase the odds he'll proc before the effect is over and refresh the duration. With cobra reflexes, serpent's swiftness, and frenzy, your pet attacks slightly more then once a second (.99 per second). Combined with a focus dump like Claw, and he doesn't need the crit from the Tooth.

I think the Eye is more beneficial while leveling. And odds are if you're looking this up you are doing that. The eye gives a solid benefit and while it's not unique, the fact of the matter is you probably won't be using the Tooth in Outland anyway. You'll end up replacing either trinket but the Eye is a better damage increaser then offering a free crit to a pet that crits all the time anyway.

I just wanted to say that I completely agree with zhek's opinion on this. I have levelled a lock to 70 and took the voidwalker trinket on the reasoning that it was irreplaceable. Guess what? I never used it, because it sucks. The devilsaur tooth sucks even more. You will never equip it at level 70, and either of the other quest rewards are superior for levelling. It's much better to have an item that will help you for 8-10 levels than one which will never help you, ever. I am currently levelling a hunter and I plan on taking the trinket. As a BM-spec hunter, it will stack nicely with BW, TBW, Rapid Fire, and Blood Fury for some insane burst damage! The spear is a good choice as well if you aren't taking the IBS from the AV quest.

the devilsaur tooth is best choice, even if your not BM, because no matter what level you are, 1 or 500 this trinket will always help you.
but the spear and the eye in some level are easly replaceable.

zhek and glass' opinions are both very valid. I will offer up mine as well.

Simply put, the Hunter's Spear is easily replaceable and by the time you finish this quest you ahve gotten something better anyhow.

The Eye becomes weaker as you level and offers nothing really good at all IMO.

The tooth can be used with any and all pets and can easily last you upto and past 70. yes there are better TBC trinket's, i know, but the fact that it can used with any pet at any level and still hasthe same benefits makes it invaluable. Especially if you are a BM spec as the above poster's previously stated.

Now there's no need to even wait until Outlands to get a better trinket. If you complete the quest https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=5128 in Winterspring, you will get a passive +50 attack power trinket.

To those mulling over which to get, just get whatever item is the best upgrade for you with your current gear. If you find the spear gives you the best upgrade, so be it.

Finished the quest this afternoon at 54.

Actually had a two high levels and a 49 pally helping, so easier.

Morphaz does not pull anything else.

You do have to fight your way around to his hallway though.

Enter the instance and go left up stairs.

Fight the Whelps and Dragonkin at top of stairs. Directly opposite where you came up stairs is the hallway to him...Fight your way back to him and out.

Took Devilsaur tooth based on suggestions here.

The pet trinket could be good if your pet doesn't crit alot but if your BM you should notice it critting alot... also your pet benefits from the AP buff.

Your nuts i use my void trinket every 30 min when i need to just equip wait 30 sec and use i agree the hunter one is stupid but the warlock one is a life saver when your out of shards and are in a area where you cant get a new one plus it works with Fel domination

This Q has been the elephant in the room in my Q Log staring reproachfully thru my 50’s. Finally done solo at 60 BM. I had got 3 M73 Frag Grenades Q reward from Jim’Jael Indeed! (Azshara 53,21) and found a good use for them.
My approach: Into Instance, staight ahead then right fork 2 mobs: Pull and trap fighter while dealing with caster. Up two flights of stairs but watch out for wandering 4 mobs that patrol from from top down to basement. You can prepare and take them down but don’t blunder into them on stairs and get hexed like I did first. Else wait till there’re down to basement and avoid.
At top there are groups of 6-8 mobs and I found these too tough in one go as I was trying to work my way around to be over the S chamber as rec in prev posts.
Instead I went straight down stairs to mini-boss troll Zolo in Pit of Sacrifice(?). He is tough as his totems produce skeletons and that was death No.2 for me after killing him.
On return from graveyard, back there to loot him and consider options. Looking over into the central room, the S chamber is straight ahead just to the right and the Dragonkin there not visible yet. I dismissed Pet, ran and leapt off balcony, landing nearer the central pit. Went left around it and pulled up short of the Scaleblanes(?) in front of the S chamber entry. You should (at 60) be able to do this with out aggroing anything (~900 health hit on fall).
I then used the grenade on the dragonkin in front of me. There are Engineer alternatives Iron, Frost,Thorium grenades but M73’s seem to have wider AOE.
Then ran past them whiled stunned and staight thur the dragon whelps behind them and you can then FD. IMPORTANT You must run past whelps patrol area almost up to Hazza and Morpheus else your FD is wasted. Now, with no grenades etc you may be able to run past both sets of mobs and still FD sucessfully but I didn’t try it.
M and H fly an anticlockwise path around their chamber so run past them to the left into Eranikus’ chamber. He won’t stir and you have time to compose yourself. Summon pet, lay freezing trap and take them on . Nearly mucked up on that but final sucess!
Now reward. Tooth or Eye. I’m going for Eye because although Tooth may be unique if you have Bestial Wrath and Serpent Swiftness you are going to proc several crits in a fight any way. Better to have the attack bonus.
Good luck, perserverance can pay off!

For levels 50-55 these are actually quite nice rewards.

The polearm is very nice, does good damage, restores mana, and adds +1% crit. I myself use 2 Dawns Edges which give me +2% crit, so this one is useless for hunters that have those.

The Tooth is nice. But i see little use for it. A BM hunter will most likely have the +15% extra crit chance for the pet making it a 20% crit chance machine. Using this trinket might tell it to crit when your beast was already about to crit. If you don't have the extra damage talent for your pet, this single crit chance will add very little extra damage...

Now the Eye is most interesting for me...

I'm lvl 60, and obviously dont need the polearm nor the tooth. The eye however fits in nicely with my crit gear and trueshot aura. (with crit gear i have a 23% ranged attack crit chance) If i use this trinket right before rapid fire, i'll be missing very little, and critting a lot. The extra attack power also makes for higher crits! The 2 minute cooldown makes this a usable trinket for me.

Until i find something better ;)

Morphaz is found inside Sunken Temple. If my memory serves me right, he's one of the dragons just before the final boss (Shadow of Hakkar or something like that). You should be able to get a group for it at lvl 52ish.

My take on the items:

The pet crit trinket is useless, my pet already got 20% crit chance.

The 150 AP bonus trinket seems nice, but personally I can't be bothered switching trinkets around every 2 minutes.

The spear is nice at lvl ~50, not everyone may want to spend a hefty sum of gold on 2x Dawn's Edge. Certainly not end-game and I doubt any lvl 60 hunter will take it (for any other reason than vendoring).

Personally I'll be going with the spear, should keep me happy till barborous blade or similar.

Kill all other dragonkin around because Morphaz and his companion call out for help. Good Xp from those guys anyways. A group of 5 will do just fine as long as one can do some healing. We cleared the entire room then we took out the drakes. The main dragon won't wake up unless you defeat jammal first. You can walk right up to him and take screen shots without him waking up:)

Take one of the 2 trinkets for a couple reasons:

1.Polearm doesn't have agil at all

2.You'll keep trinket unless you find some better ones in UBRS/LBRS or MC.

3.There are alot better polearms available at the same lvl.

4.The Polearm sucks even for Survival Hunters.(I know there aren't many of them but they're there.)

I'd had this quest for ages and couldn't find a group willing to do it. Eventually at level 60 I got help from another lvl 60 hunter.

You enter the instance in the temple and take the right hand steps up to the top. You are then faced with a group of dragons. Simply, run through the dragons and then use fake death. Keep doing this until you reach the large room full of dragons.

You then do exactly the same until you reach the 3rd opening on the right, go through there and at the end of the passage if the room with the two dragons. If you hug the wall they won't attack.

Wait until they have passed you and then both run out and place a trap (freezing traps don't appear to affect them). Set your pets onto them and use ranged attack. Use fake death if necessary, but you should be able to kill Morphas and get the tooth.

The above took less than 10 minutes, so it can be done fairly quickly.

You are Not a Moron just becuse you pick something else then the eye, but it is good, in instances, maybe its worth picking the BM trinket for 0.1% the reason for the low % is that your dmg>Pet dmg

If you are not sure about what you want to pick, get the eye, some might say that it is not the best for grinding, but it is the only one that you'll put to use when you start doing instances and you'r pet most likely wont be "In there fighting" to a 100%, and a pets dmg is not that high, but, its your coice, if you want the BM trinket, fine, but please, please, dont get the spear, just go win AV once, might take some time, but its better:) might not add up to the 1% crit, since you need 52~something agi for that, but you get more RAP(Ranged attack power) and stuff like that, and has some other neat bonuses as well

Okay, thanks to some instructions above, I just completed this in 30 minutes, and that was with killing a bunch of dragons. I am a 54 hunter, we had a 53 pally and a 64 hunter and tore up the place, in fact we beat a boss too.

First of all you go in and take a LEFT up the stairs not a RIGHT as someone else had mentioned. At the top of the stairs you have to beat a few (6) dragons.. then on till you get to the room with all the dragons.. continue on to the right killing 1 group at a time till you get to the 3rd opening kill the last group then Vawalla.. your pair of dragons awaits... they are really easy too, focus on one at a time and badabing you are done...

Now as for which one to take, I am taking the eye, but from what i hear i really doesn't matter too much because you replace almost everything once you get to outlands.... but hey live in the present right.. anyway i hope this helps a little.. happy hunting

just take the eye and w8 to be 51 and do the alterac valley quests and you will get the ice barbed spear that has:

155-233 damage
(53.9 dps)
+13 str
+21 agi
+20 sta

and that all you need until 60.

I managed to solo this quest after I couldn't get anyone to help me (lvl 57).

The trick is to let your pet attack the group, run straight past, then feign death in a safe spot. I did this a few times between the groups of dragons when you go up the first stairs on your left when you enter. It's a lot of pet attack, you feign but it got me through. A few times I got lucky when my cat "appeared" to have died but I just blew the whistle and he appeared.

As others have suggested take down Hazzas first, he was easier to take down. I was getting close to low health and mana for Morphaz but all I did was wait until Mend Pet appeared to heal my cat all the time and eventually done. Really, it was a lot of effort since I could wait to lvl and get another trinket in Outlands, but hey it was fun to do!

Do not take the Polearm Reward from this quest .You can take a better one from AV (Alterac Valley) from a quest at Alterac Mountains (Hero of the Frostwolf) .This Polearm gives +13 STR,+21 AGILITY,+20 STAMINA & has a 53,9 per second damage (hunters shouldn't be Worrying about Weapon Damage...... ). KISS Keep It Simple S......

1. Enter instance,
2. Go left up staircase, you will come to Pit of sacrafice,
3. Kill what you must but go straight and do not fall into pit in the middle of the floor.
On other side of Pit is the two 50 elite dragons.

BTW two elite dragons(one is lvl48, other is lvl49) to a group the welps are non-elite so If you can solo two elites you can solo this. Or grab one more person and you will be fine.

This should not take longer than 10 minutes unless you die

Yes you hear me right, S O L O E D both Morphaz and Hazzas.
How to do it?

Make your way through the temple to the hallway which leads to M/H/Eranikus. There are 4 elites there. Now take a look at the RIGHT side of this hallway.
MANY thanks to the dev who put that small pile o'skulls!
I aggroed my pet onto 4 of these, then quickly jumped on this pile then onto the small ramp which is near all walls in this temple, yes, thats right, mobs evaded. I carefully made my way to the hall where M and H are flying in and took a place in corner, revived my pet and fed him again.
- aggro these two tards, they will enter evade state
- use Eyes of the beast
- put the pet in Stay mode and move him to Morphaz
- feign death

They will aggro onto ur pet, quickly distract Hazzas with anythin (arcshot/distr shot) then keep ur pet alive and kill Morph. WATCH THE ^&*!ING AGGRO and dont pull Morph off ur pet. Easy for a BM though.
Then you can heal ur pet and kill Hazz and be !@#$ing proud of that xD

Here goes the fight screen. My pet kills Morph, Hazz is distracted and evaded:

(dinged 52 while doing it) with a full group, well rounded (55 war, 52 priest, 51 druid, 51 rogue) I opted for the Devilsaur Tooth , being beast spec'd and I must say it's much better than I thought it would be. Unlike Intimidation, when you cast this item on your pet it stays (no duration till used). Great for pvp. Here's what I do. Cast this baby, then cast bestial wrath then dismiss pet. Bestial wrath = 18 sec-5sec dismiss=13 sec left of bestial wrath. Let your cool downs repop, call pet when needed, and your ready for 13sec of bestial wrath Plus you can recast that AND this trinket = 31 sec of bestial wrath and 2 garunteed crits with pet. Pretty awsome. Hope this helped

I did this quest with my lvl 60 hunter and a lvl 60 rogue.

It's quite easy to get to Morphaz at lvl 60 without killing any mobs, just sacrifice you're pet and feign death when needed.

Morphaz and Hazzas fly along a circular path, we killed Hazzas first and used feign death / vanish. Healed up and went for Morphaz. it only took a few minutes to complete this quest.

Used the path already mentinoed here to get to him. Just sent pet on Morphaz got aggro on Hazzas and burned Mor down. By the time he killed my pet he had less than 10% of his health. Killed, feigned, looted , then somehow got agrro on whelps and died :P

Is the Devilsaur Tooth's cool down 2 minutes, and also, I figured out that:
If you used the Devilsaur Tooth to critical hit and Frenzy talent maxed out, With a Fast attacking pet speed (like a cat), with 1.5 speed, about your level,
then used Bestial Wrath, your pet could do about 75-100 damage per 1.05 seconds, for 15 seconds.
Formula:
Pet damage (about 30-40 for me) + Bestial Wrath = 2 times damage (about 60-80 for me )
Pet speed (about 1.3 for me) + Frenzy = 30% faster speed (about 0.9 for me)
So according to that, 70 per 0.9 seconds, so damage per second of about 77.5, for 15 seconds would equal 1162.5 damage, for every 2 minutes.

Followed jbradfield's discription for getting to and seperating Morphaz and Hazzaz, but had a lot of trouble seperating them, but found that there is an easier way. By getting them to fight down close to Eranikus, he will summon all his children to him, and after they leave, Morphaz and Hazzaz will position themselves in one place instead of constantly moving, and is much easier to figure out the timming. I just shot Hazzaz ran down close to Eranikus, had my pet fight them and ran to the opposite end, and feigned death if needed, then used jbradfield's plan

One important thing about the tooth is whether or not it does more damage, it can be used to help the pet regain agro when he loses it. I find there are moments when this is very important in pve play. For this reason I'm taking the tooth, and i expect I won't replace it.

Either these two dragons got totally nerfed recently, or I'm just plain lucky - I killed em' both, no splitting necessary, as a level 60 Beast Mastery Hunter with a level 57 Ghostsaber cat...

FD'd my way to the point where they were in the instance - no problems.

Started with Hazzas, had Aspect of the Monkey on during this time, sent my pet in (spaced using prowl, but it worked anyhow)... Mended Pet appropriately. Eventually, I got aggro from Morphaz, who I just let attack me while I focused on Hazzas. Threw on Bestial Wrath, and finished off Hazzas. Then I let my cat get aggro from Morphaz (still healing - it'd gotten down to about 20% after killing Hazzas). From there, it was laughably easy. I switched over to Aspect of the Hawk and unloaded on Morphaz... Which was very fast, as I completely blew my mana between the two of them, I was a bit over-eager between my Arcane Shots and Mending my Pet.

No adds at all throughout the entire thing... Got my fang, but no blue drops from Hazzas. :(

Still, got my fang! ^_^

My first post. If this helps at 60 there is a quest called Overlord you can get in Hellfire Peninsula that gives a trinket that performs very closely to the Devilsaur eye called Bladefist's Breath. This item gives improved crit by 26 and increased attack by 200 for 15 seconds. Added to the eye doesn't that seem awesome? and for those who want to go Beast you can have them both by getting Blade and having Tooth so this way you can have devastating melee skills or a nice balance on both sides in your trinket slots. I hope this helps. Sorry for some of the lack of detail.

P.S. I just did the Green Drake solo at 65 using the FD and split method listed above, great description and post, thanks!

The cords, temple and instances instruction are all correct, now for what I haven't read here.
once inside the dungeon the cords to the instance are 55, 77.
Once inside follow the direction below, but beware of 47, 48 elites romeing.
I tried this solo at 57, the elites are no prob 1 on 1 but 2 to 3 on 1 not so easy.I got bored of dieing, I'll try again at 60.

A lvl 60 Hunter and myself (lvl 57 Hunter) went in Sunken Temple. Taking the third path from left entering instance, we went upstairs, ran past the first mob, FDed, then jumped off the balcony and headed towards the southern exit. Passed the mobs before the 2 Drakes and then FDed again. Brought out our pets and with some trial and error, we decided on killing Morphaz first (he's easier to kill than Hazzas). Hazzas would be attacking the pets while we and our pets would kill off Morphaz. Pets died, but we FDed and after reviving pets and resting, we easily killed Hazzas. Job done.
We both opted for the Devilsaur Eye.

Go into the instance
Take the second room/path to the right
Go up as many stairs as you see (cross a hallway to go up the last stairs)
Turn right
After killing a group of humanoids, there is a stairway on your left hand,(first option to go down).... go down.
Jump in the round hall. Kill whatever you land into.
Go to the south exit of the round hall, kill a line of dragons, kill a swarm of non elites to get thru, and then you see a room with 2 flying green dragons. Kill them, get tooth, Heartstone out.

I tried this using Jbradfield's method (aug 21 06, day before 1.12) but was unable to get the drakes to split. I'm not sure whether it was my timing or just that I didn't understand how to do it.

After about 30 minutes of trying that, I saw Hyost's info, and decided to try it that way.

Here is what I ended up doing to solo it.

Pull on top of The Shade of Eranikus. Then get way over to the back left corner of Eranikus's room and feign. Pulling the drakes on top of him will cause every mob in the lower part of the zone to come into his room, including the 2 drakes.

After 2 or 3 minutes everything will reset, and Hazzas and Morphaz will stop circling and go to stationary spots at the opposite end of the long room they patrol.

Pull Hazzas and Morphaz to the Shade AGAIN (you will have to train them by firing several shots as you run).

This will cause all the mobs to be summoned to him again, BUT Hazzas and Morphaz will first return to their spots at the far end of the hall way. Feign and chase them back to their spawn points.

When they go back to their spawn points they will be out of evade mode, but will then have to answer the summon to the shade of eranikus. Pull when they are on their way back to the shade, and you will be able to get one of them separate.

(I'm not sure if I feigned during this time to split them or not. You may have to, i'm sorry it was very late.)

In my case I got Hazzas by himself. I killed him, and by the time he was dead, Eranikus released all the mobs back to their spawn points, and Morphaz came back to his spawn point.

I then killed him and got the tooth. I'm not sure if its because of the way I did it, but neither drake dropped a blue. I really didn't care about that as I was only after the trinket :)

It was VERY easy to get to this place, but it took me probably 1:30:00 to finally get it to work. I would strongly reccomend getting another 60 hunter to go with you, because 2 hunters could split up the 2 drakes and each kill one. If i had a friend with me, it would have been a 5 minute mission.

If another 60 hunter needs help on the Lothar server, send a tell to Wolfenheart!

So we pretty much got it narrowed down to 2 trinkets,, WHICH ONE,, and Does the eye do Ranged ATK. Power 2 ?, if so i'm getting that one.

Morphaz is very easily soloable with a 60 hunter.

Getting to Morphaz's room requires the standard charge-in-and-feign technique that you would use for bypassing any other such content. Upon entering the instance, take the second hall from the right and proceed up the steps all the way to the top. From here, make sure your FD is up run to the right and jump off the first ledge on your left. Run to the center of this room (but not down the hole), feigning as needed.

Morphaz's room is on the southernmost hall of this chamber. Again, wait for your FD and run past the one or two groups of dragons you should find. Sac your pet if need be and feign at the end of the hall (you should see Morphaz and Hazzaz flying in a circle in the room you are now standing on the edge of). Wait for them to pass you flying right and then run into the next room where you should see the Shade of Eranikus sleeping on the floor. Erinakus cannot be attacked or aggroed so feel free to use this room for whatever space you need.

You're going to have a very hard time fighting both dragons at once, but fortunately (and contrary to appearances) they are not linked. To split them (and fight Morphaz alone), shoot Hazzaz and immediately switch your target to Morphaz. Hazzaz should aggro with Morphaz following about half a second later. Make sure you're in firing range of the spot Morphaz will leash too and FD once both have aggroed. Morphaz should return to his position about a second or half-second before Hazzaz. During this very brief window, shoot Morhpaz with an Arcane Shot. He should aggro while Hazzaz is still in evade mode and split off without aggroing his partner. Pull him back into Eranikus's room and fight him well out of range of Hazzaz.

Once you have Morphaz alone, the fight is a cakewalk. Turn on Aspect of the Wild, sick your pet on him, and work him down. Mend Pet as needed, take a mana pot if need be, whatever. He should go down with very little trouble. Collect your tooth and either hearth out or repeat the procedure with Hazzaz if you want a free blue (it's the exact same fight but you don't have to aggonize over the pull).

Get back to Azshara and get your Devilsaur Eye because it DOES affect RAP (just like all +AP equipment) and the other options suck.

still lots of contraversy over the tooth vs eye thing but I'd just like to add my own personal anecdotal story. Make of it what you will, it's just my story and is in no way representative of other people's calculations or figures.

2.0 attack cat. pet with prowl lv 3

BM tree with:

ferocious inspiration, frenzy, beastial wrath.

prowl 3 adds 50% dmg + auto crit with tooth + instant frenzy + 3% bonus to everyone guaranteed...

I activated bestial wrath just after sending the pet in. Bestial wrath does NOT break prowl so it does about 300-450 damage off the first hit as well as triggering a 3% dmg bonus to me at the very least if solo.

I do about 180-200 dmg per shot. that's 6 more dmg per hit for 10 sec making it add 60 dmg total. In a party, everyone gets the bonus and if my pet is frenzy, it'll probably add alot more crits overtime and get more ferocious inspiration.

With a party of 5, it is almost a no brainer to use the tooth over the eye since everyone doing more damage is going to out do anything one person can do by himself.

The main thing is that this tooth is amazing for prowl. Yes many pets attack quickly and you may get a frenzy earily in the fight but it is still a rare i.e. 10% chance of getting it on the first prowl hit.

The tooth is much less useful in the molten core where pet use is less important, but then again I like my other trinkets instead of the eye or tooth by those levels.

By lv 70, I would love to retest the differences. I am nearly positive a prowl + crit + earily frenzy + 3% bonus dmg is going to out class the eye by a large amount.

Ok about the rewards:

the hunting spear is cool if you're lvl 50 but other then that better weapons can be found anyway, so you're better off with 2x dawns edge at that lvl or even better, don't spend cash and wait till you get a nice drop.

The Eye gives MELEE attack power and isn't too shabby because of that, so the best thing to do is go for the tooth if you're BM specced.

Just did this with a 57 warrior, 49 and 50 shaman, 47 warlock and myself a 54 hunter. we got into the room and they aggrod before we got to the next room with Eranikus. So we just fought both and killed them - no one near death.

got rugged leather, 2 worn dragonscales and 2 green dragonscales of each when I skinned them.

All I can say is get the eye. After I got it I tried it out just to see if I made the right choice. I opened up my character to see how it would effect my stats. When turned on I got 150 increase in melee and ranged attack power. I made the right choice.

You also have to remember that the tooth scales with your pet. You will out-grow the spear and eye past 60.

Did this solo with my hunter on the third try.

Pulled Morphaz with Aimed/multi then into immo trap, pet offtank on Hazzas, meleed him down, feigned and looted.

They did a total of ~6200 damage to me, so you might wanna bring your stamina gear and a major heal.

Edit: Just wanted to add that my pet was only 52 at this moment and that might be the reason for the huge hp loss due to early pet death. :>

Personally I'm going to choose the tooth. The other 2 may be better, but people forget to look at whats going to happen to things at 60. At 60, the spear will be replaced, and the Eye will be replacd, but this is the games only trinket that will help you gank people in town. The eye is great, but look how easy it is to get an alternative at 60, while not being able to get a pet dmg trinkrt once so ever.

At 60, you drop eye for
Royal Seal of Eldre'Thalas because a passive is better then a duration and downtime. id rather have ap to ALL of my attacks, FOREVER, then 20secs with 2min downtime. That might rule for aimed shots, but I'm a BW person, I open up with pet ambushing+aimed shot. I admit the eye is better then both of those, but then you get no pet trinket at all. If anyone has ever killed in BB or gadget, you'd understand the importance of the tooth.

A crit on first hit means 300%dmg stealth+frenzy right off. BW+Stealth+100%crit would be ungodly gank tool. Grab cat with 2.0 attack speed, stealth, trinket, BW, feign, pet attack, watch clothie die QUICK, IN TOWN. I can live without the eye, but I gank too much to live without the tooth.

FYI the Effect Devilsaur Fury and Frenzy from the 2 trinkets do not stack, using the eye first i got a delay of 20 seconds on Bladefist until i could activate, keeping you from using both at once. However it did give me a total of 35 seconds of melee fury, Mmmmm.

Am I an idiot? I got to the upper balcony no probs, when I jumped down into the round room to head south to the room with the 2 Drakes, I was attacked by about 8 Green Whelps and 5 elite Dragonkin. FD and pet dead. When I re-upped to continue running cool-down on FD didnt hit quick enough so I died...

When returning to the instance, I start at the entrance of the instance again.
I run through where I have killed everything to that point, jump down again, FD pet dead again, not any closer to the south room.
repeated three times same result. How the heck do you get closer to the room using FD if you get hammered by multiple elites every time you re-up?

This is frustrating cause it seems no-one is doing sunken temple at all, so cant find any one (even guildies pass on LFG).

Im lvl 61 BM Hunter half blue/half green gear, and a killer for a pet.

Am I stoopid or just a n00b? <sigh>

Any mildly scathing responses would be appreciated.

Bring the Tooth of Morphaz to Ogtinc in Azshara. Ogtinc resides atop the cliffs northeast the Ruins of Eldarath.
