The NPC that gives this quest is located outside of Org. He is in the middle of a rock formation. This is a simple quest, simply find the NPC in the Cleft of Shadow.

Rhinag (This quest's starter) is located east of the Orgrimmar Gate in a stone formation.

When you have obtained this quest you must go to Cleft of Shadow in Orgrimmar to talk to Kor'Ghan then get a new quest (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=813)

Then go back to durotar kill enough Venomtail Scorpions (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=3127) to get the mats for the andidote.. Then go back to Kor'Ghan in the Cleft of Shadow and get the andidote.. and after that back again to the quest NPC in Durotar

Its a easy quest to do and the exp and rep rewards is good.. So its worth your time :)

In previous patches you could complete the antidote quest after the timer had run out, then abandon and retake it. This is no longer possible as abandoning the quest destroys the antidote. I learnt this the hard way. I think it would however be possible to retake this quest after you have collected the mats but before you have the antidote. Then completing it before time runs out again.

Actually, the NPC that starts this quest isn't at the east of the Orgrimmar gates, but the to the West of them.

I wasted 5 minutes looking for him on the east side thanks to the comment here, when I should've been looking on the other side.

It seems to me that either there is an unknown pre-requisit, or it's not possible to do as a Blood Elf.

Located at 47.53 in the Cleft of Shadow.

He will be on the mini map as a ! as you need to get another quest from him.

As a lvl 10 Orc Warrior i found this quest a pain killing those scorpions is not a problem in it self just there poison attack is very unhelpful and if u pull more than 1 there poison stack up and as far as it goes with me i have no way 2 remove them on top of there melee damage, they killed me a few times over, so this quest can be a real pain to do and to make things worse the drop rate for me wasent to good either.

The guy you seek is in the lower level of the drag as previous posts stated. But ... don't watch your minimap for some kind of gold dot to show you he's near, you are looking for a ! new quest, not a ? quest completion.

Maybe that's obvious if you read carefully what's going on ... but then who does that? :D

The guy in orgrimmer is a troll at the shadow cleft area, you need to look for him though because he will have a ! over his head not a ? so he will NOT show up on the miniMap

either the drop rate changed or i am very unlucky it took me about 12 mobs for the drop but i still had plenty of time and finished the quest within 15 minutes with a mage lvl 11

Make sure to know where Kor'Ghan is and how to get back to him if ya wanna finish the quest quick (47,53 Cleft of Shadows). He won't be marked at this time, but at least you will know where to look.

Find Rhinag amongst some tall, out of place looking rocks at 41,18 and talk to him when ready. As mentioned by others, you got 45 mins.

Run back to Ogrimar and find Kor'Ghan, who is now quest marked. Talk to him and get the next part.

Run back outside, near where you found Rhinag and kill scorps till you have enough venom sacks, or whatever.

Back to Kor'Ghan again to get antidote. Then back to Rhinag to complete.

I had no idea what I was doin and finnished with 25 mins left.

all just you need to do is go to orgri (cleft of shadows) find Kor'ghan there and acept hes quest then just kill scorpions outside orgri till you got the hearths then turn in the quest to Kor'ghan and you got the quest item ( go to turn the quest Need for a cure)

During brewfest, you can take Now This is Ram Racing... Almost, and take the ram up to Kor'ghan, turn it in on the way back, grind the scorpids with more than half an hour to spare and turn THAT in. Awesome having a free mount at lvl 10 for 4 mins... :D

EDIT: you still need to run back though, for which you can take There and Back Again, abandon it when you need to, then turn in this quest before going back to the brewfest one if you want to :)

The Guy is where the map shows you he is in the picture section. It don't get no simpler than that. Screw cords.

The person you need to run too is in the CLEFT OF SHADOWS! It's NOT The Drag. The Drag is a WHOLE nother area, as different from Cleft of Shadows as Valley of Honor is from Valley of Wisdome. Different areas.

WITHOUT cords: First off, turn OFF track human. Don't look for him in The Drag since there is an alchemy trainer with a name so close to his it's a one letter difference. With the new patch a (!) in bright yellow will show up on your map when you get close to his area.

When going into The Drag, stick to the left wall and follow it up and past the shop. You will be on the second leve but it's easier this way so just DO IT. Go around the bend till you see a purple light down belowe. Drop down and you will land right in front of a sight that says/points to the Cleft of Shadows (two feed to your left is where it points...). It's the Warlock training area. Go in and strait down till you get to the base of the ramp (200 feet in) and look directly to the left.

If you can't see this guy then Ressen's momma aint' the only Blind Hunter.

Time: You are timed from the time you leave the original questgiver to the time you get to his freind, back out to kill scorpions, back to the friend and back to the idiot who hunts scorpions without antivenom. Even as badly as my slow and sad computer lags in any city (especialy a major one) I still hade 12 min left when I finished this quest.

Drop rate: 1/3 for me. I killed first two and got dropped. Killed three more, got another one and three more before the last one.

Wierdness: I was able to get this quest again from the guy in the Cleft of Shadows and collect more venom and get another antivenom. When I got the antivenom, since I completed the original quest already, I now have an extra and can't do anything with it. Wish I could use it on pet so she'd stop being a green Duskstalker. *sigh*

Rep: There is not reason to go on Thotbot and whine and moan about completing this quest (or most for that matter) for any reason at all. I have found several Darkspear Troll quest that I can't even do because I'm not qualified and I have YET to vent on one of the boards after the first one (before I figured out why). Unless you NEED the rep this quest gives you, then for Thrall's sake, abandon and do another one. The Rep IS good however: 350 with Darkspear Trolls and Ogrimar.

At level 33 it was so easy it was almost time wasted. But, then again, 350 rep towards my mount is never really time wasted, now is it?

If you don't want to mess with doing the whole time quest thing I suggest this using this little loop hole that I found, it's pretty sleezy. Get the quest then run to Orgrimar to the Cleft of Shadows which gives you a quest to go back out and get (4) Venom Tails, once you get the venom tail quest go ahead and abandon the Need for a Cure quest (don't worry you are going to get it again). Then, go out and get the venom tails from the scorpions (at this point you can take your sweet time and not get frustrated). The drop rate is pretty good. Then go back to the Cleft of Shadow and turn in the Venom Tail quest and get the Antivenom. Run back out to Rhinag(SP) and accept the need for a cure quest. At that point you can turn it back in immediately. QUICK AND EASY! If this is a repeat I apologize, I didn't read all of the previous comments.

Rhinag who gives the quest cord. 41,18 Durator, Kor'ghan next Ogrimar cord. 47,53 Cleft of Shadow next kill Venomtail Lash and get 4 Venomtail Poison Sac run back to Kor'ghan and than back to Rhinag.

The postes on here wired me totally and was confused here is the straight way, hopes it helps.

After you get the 2nd part of the quest from Kor'ghan in the cleft of shadows, leave Orgimmar out of the main gate. To the right are the "Venomtail Scorpids". They are the only ones that will drop the venom sacs. I got 4 venom sacs by killing 10 venomtail scorpids(which is about a 40% drop rate). As I was killing scorpids I went and turned in "Lost but not Forgotten" quest. After I got the sacs I returned to Orgimmar, got my armor fixed, then went back to the cleft of shadows, turned in quest, then walked back to (41,18). Point is did all that and finished quest with 19 min to spare. However the quest was green for my level 12 Rouge also. Recieved 975 XP as well as 350 Rep with Orgimmar and Darkspear Trolls.

He is in the cleft of shadows just above the mushroom vendor. I got my first three sacs in one minute last one took four minutes

For those using Cosmos, Kor'ghan's loc is 47,53 in the Cleft of Shadows.

I breezed through this quest. The drop rate on the scorpids is pretty descent so I even had time to kill some other creatures and pick up some plants while I was there.

Fished it with 25 mins. to go.

and take the sacs and recieve the cur

The following person is incorrect in reference to a character not giving a quest, (EliteNoob). Rhinag, at 41,18 outside of ogrimar on the right if you are looking away from the city, hidden in the rocks does give the Quest (A Need For A Cure). He sends you back into Ogrimar to see (Kor'Ghan), who gives you a Venomtail Antidote. You must then bring the antidote back to Rhinag. This is a timed quest and the character does not have a ! above his head. This is another one of the many hidden quests in WOW. I will note that I am using the Burning Crusades Expansion and maybe you can only get this quest if you have this expansion. It is a LVL 9 quest. I am going to accept the quest now and attempt to complete it with my LVL 18 female Troll Hunter. More info to follow if I am not successful. If the quest is not broken I will not add any more info.

You have 45 minutes to do this quest. That means you accept this quest, you run back and forth to Kor'ghan for the antidote quest, kill the venomtails, run back to get the antidote, and run it back to Rhinag all must be done in 45 minutes.

At lvl 9, it isn't too bad at all, of course you shouldn't be lost in ogrimmar while doing this quest.

If there are many ppl doing the quest, or appear to be farming the venomtails, wait til they leave, cuz the spawn rate is a bit on the slow side.

Need for a Cure

Find Kor'ghan in Orgrimmar and get the Venomtail Antidote. Then bring the antidote to Rhinag near the northwestern border of Durotar.

I was careless while fighting a few of the venomtails nearby, and one of them stung me deeply. I can feel its poison weakening me even as we speak. At this rate, I got maybe an hour left to live. But I'll need your help if I'm to do so...

Kor'ghan in Orgrimmar knows how to make the antidote. Find him... and hurry, <name>. I won't be able to last much longer. He should be in the Cleft of Shadow.
