This quest is one of the most infamous "collect x" quests in the game, I think. Anyone who does this quest will discover that the humans of Hillsbrad are strange, mutant beings, of which, relatively few have skulls. Maybe a quarter of them have skulls, but that's about it.

Unless you want to farm the area for the skulls, I'd say work on the Battle of Hillsbrad questline while doing this quest. Basically after you complete one of the Battle of Hillsbrad quests, go turn it in and go back to the area. You'll be here for awhile working on completing the questline in the Hillsbrad Fields area.

I found the best luck with the skulls at Durnhold Keep low lvl usely 1 out of every 2 you kill.

PAIN IN THE ASS its the mst anoying quest in all for the hillsbarr foot hills quests i did it for a week soloed as a lvl 32 hunter but then again it was easy took ok 6-7 mobs at a time if you ask me you should wait untill you dont get xp from the mobs so u can farm faster a good quest to make you quit the game not worth the time and the reward was pathetic i suggest a lower lvl mage or shaman get a high lvl friend for it so u can get all xp and have use for the ring

The droprate istn that bad. You'll usually get 1 very 3 kill. And since you probably have the quests Battle of Hillsbrad and Dangerous!, you'll have all the time to get all the 30 skulls.

This is a bad quest drop rate wise. But other than that, it isn't too bad of a quest, you just go back to Hillsbrad Fields and kill all the Hillsbrad people that you see there. Statistically, Hillsbrad Peasants drop rate is the highest.

As a 25 UD mage, i had the best luck farming skulls at Durnholde keep. Just about every shadow mage and syndicate rogue dropped a skull (3 out of 4 drop rate). And the watchmen dropped about half the time.

at least for me - I've killed about 15 hillsbrad types and gotten 2 skulls. :(

looked here on thottbot to see if they dropped them also, they list them dropping it.
so off to durnholde keep to test it... first kill of a level 21. Human Skull. much easier to kill/pull than the hillsbrad humans at times. but if you do the whole string of quests you should get the skulls also. but i'll get them the ring at 25 easy.

It was a one kill one drop ratio at durnholde, every single human i killed dropped a skull.

this is a pretty easy quest because you can complete it while doing the others just loot the skulls while doing the other avialible quests

Definitely a better drop rate by Durnholde Keep. Finished in about 45 minutes if that. Very easy for a level 23 Rog.

...So do they drop off all the humans in Hillsbrad?, and shouldn't there be a skull on every human there. I mean shouldn't everyone in the game have a skull.

if you have the quest battle of hillsbrad the second you can kill the peasants along with retrieving the human skulls. =O thats what i did

Do this in Durnholde Keep, drop rate much better and it's easier not to pull multiple enemies.

Hillsbrad Fields Drop rate is fine, the Footmen dropped almost 100% for me.

Note: there isn't many footmen in a single spot, you will have to search around the field a little.

found the footmen (also) to drop almost all the time, but if u just do the others quests in the area ull be sure to get the 30 u need, so no need to 'grind' them;)

for me the best drops were the footmen. The skulls would drop 8 out of 11 times.

i found this out by helping someone quest. if your having trouble getting the skulls at hillsbrad try going to durnholde keep. the drop rate is a lot better and they are not as hard to kill. happy hunting!

This is quest should be done with 'The Battle of Hillsbrad'. Not the first part but the second because the quest is only available after completing the first part.

Most people find this quest stupid as not every human drops a skull (chance around 35-40 percent) but what most people fail to see is that it encourages grinding which is good. Means more exp plus more gold.

As for location, the humanoids that drop the skulls are all over the Hillsbrad Fields and apparently Durnholde keep. I suggest Hillsbrad Fields for two reasons.

1. Can be done while doing 'Battle of Hillsbrad'
2. Fast respawn rate at 33, 39

i found that a lot of skulls drop at the Azureload mine. so its good 2 do this quest with the mine Battle of Hillsbrad quest. and its also good to do this with the warrior brutal armour quest to collect some bits for it,

While you don't get this quest until after you've done the first step of "Battle of Hillsbrad", you can kill ANY (npc) humans in Hillsbrad Foothills to get these skulls.

That means the Syndicate guys at the tower on the east side of the river, or the Syndicate guys hanging around Durnholde Keep. Since they're a couple levels lower than the Hillsbrad guys, it makes the dismal drop-rate a little more tolerable.

This quest is ridiculously tedious. Seems to me when Blizzard requires 30 of the stupid things that every human should drop one! I have 15+ humans doing the peasant quest. I got a total of 3 skulls! At least 20 kills during that time between farmers and footmen. I foresee this quest getting trashed.

Wasn't too difficult, did the blood of innocents quest at the same time. I didn't try the big keep, there is a small tower on the way with about 10-12 hunmans, most were easy to pull solo and finish off. Probably killed about 100 to get 30 skulls. Got the bloods from the mages way sooner.

If you're a 24+ mage specced with 5/5 Improved Arcane Explosion this is a breeze. I was killing 5+ guys at once pulling the higher levels with fireball or frostbolt and gathering the rest with IAE. Once they're in a clump, hit Frost Nova, back up and drop a Flamestrike on them. Then just IAE until they're dead. Takes a couple tries to get the hang of, but after that it's cake. At 28 I can do 7 or 8 of the guys at the northern-most farm at once.

I did this in conjunction with the 2nd Hillsbrad quest, as well as The Rescue, Blood of the Innocent (part of a chain that begins at the Stonetalon Mountains), and Wanted: Syndicate Personnel. There were so many humans to kill for those other quests that I never even noticed the bad drop rate. In fact, I had this quest completed before the Wanted: Syndicate Personnel quest, since I had troubles getting enough rogues. I got 11 skulls with the 2nd Hillsbrad quest and the other 19 at Durnholde Keep. Level 29 priest at the time earned 2550 XP for this quest.

So I definitely recommend doing Hillsbrad I as early as possible so you can get Souvenirs of Death as early as possible. That way all the humans you kill can potentially give you a skull.

I completed The 1st battle quest on all 5 of my toons that have been through the area. Souvenirs has been available 4 out of the 5 times. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the battle chain at this point.

I completed this at lv 25. I didn't find it difficult at all. Lowish drop rate but not hard just time consuming.

Solo'd this as a level 26 priest and turned 27 when I turned in the skulls. Its semi tough but totally doable. I used fear and healing potions ( I'm an alchemist ).

This quest becomes available after the first Battle of Hillsbrad quest.
If you follow the complete Battle of Hillsbrad quest line, you'll easily collect the required Hillsbrad Human Skulls.
