If you don't start from the top and work down, the orcs will use a skill at ~50% hp which is fuxored. They will evade at that point (irregardless of what you do) and reset. Best case scenario is you fight the same one over and over until you die.

The quest is definately not bugged, although it is probably one of the shittiest quests i've ever tried to do. Anytime you try and make your way through the congested area of humanoids you run into the patting level 70 elites and they beat the crap out of you. If you can at all avoid it, don't do this quest. It is absolutely not worth the time and frustration -- if you did the tuber quest earlier, this is 10 times worse.

They evade at 50% with or without pet out. There is all kinds of crap to get stuck on so that if you have a caster agrod, it will cast at you and you can't attack it. The whole area is a shitty example of bad quality stuff that has not been tested.

Hmm, I'm killing them fine. But this really is a shitty quest because of the Drakonids.

But, if you'd like to do this anyway, since no one posted a location I will: The north 'part' of the Black Temple, co'ord's around 70,38 or so. Can't miss them if you're there.

Edit: One just evaded on me, what the hell? It seems pretty random if they bug on you or not. :/ Seriously, avoid this quest.

Simple solution: don't fight the pairs of 2 slayers. They are scripted to duel each other, and stop and reset when they get to a certain hp % (so they don't kill each other). Just kill the ones that are not scripted. There's at least 8 at the very start of the area.

If you already have a flying mount, you can just fly around until you find a mob that is solo, drop down, pwn it, and fly away. For example, the best place to kill the other melee types (not slayers) is at the very top of the terrace. There's 4 guarding the stairs that won't link and are easy to pick off solo, and there's 2 more inside the building.

Yes this place is a bit rough compared to other areas. But this is Illidan's doorstep, so what do you expect? Even so, you'll only get killed if you're being careless. Every drakonid and eye has a long patrol route. Do this with patience and you will not die. And finally, do this when you have a flying mount (go level in nether!) to make your life a lot easier.

Even the solo ones are bugged, they evade the min. they get from anywhere from 40-50%.

Slayer's are buggy and I can't seem to killed them.

One solution I have is to kill them at where they stand (spawn point) I got one down to 1%... Basically each time they evade and run back you have a sec or two to do Direct Damage against the Slayer to keep him @ that % and then you can finish him off... Good Luck

Btw... I think it's best if you do this with a 2 people. Pref. have at least 1 melee person.

Another thing... even if they're not scripted.... they evade and go back @ a certain %...

So simplest way to kill Slayers is to pull the unscripted in 2-3 mobs... GL

As noted by the other people, the mobs seem to be somewhat broken (I kept getting the "out of sync" problem with some mobs, and weird aggro), and the quest itself sucks.

However, I was finally able to kill the Chosen ones as well. There are two you can pull relatively safely at 70,34 (stay on a small "hill" next to the mountain while pulling).

The best place to land and fight was at 72,38 the elite that pats there wont see you if you stand where the caster spawns at that spot and u can pull the other mobs need to that area and drink.

Easy location to get The Shadowmoon Chosen is 70.34 by the little hill sticking up.
The hill is accessible if you stand by the corner of the stairs and jump up 2times when you jump down to pull.
The elite and the eye can't see you.

WARLOCKS: Killing Shadowmoon Slayers

I finally figured it out. I had my VW out and had to dive bomb them to fight them at there spawn point. Fly over them and dismount. About halfway through it, they will reset but the health will not regenrate. All the dots will be gone though. Just use your burst damage spells till they are dead. Pain. I killed the ones at 67,34. Three at a time but at least you will not have the elites on you.

I had no problem with this quest at all - no problems with mobs resetting or anything. Maybe I am just extremely lucky!!

Tip: Study the routes of the 70 elites. Once you learn it you'll have time to land and take a few guys out but then be prepared to mount up again until he is gone.

I only died once doing this quest. An elite got to me about half a second before my mounting action was up :(

When you do this horrible quest you can kill Smith Gurlonk (68, 36) at the same time because he drops the Primed Key Mould which starts the questline to get the key for Shattered Halls instance in Hellfire Peninsula.

As a hunter the best way to do this I've found is go to one of the corners, put a trap between you and one of the Slayers, then Aimed Shot, let it be trapped .. then wait on the cooldown, Aimed shot, then melee.

Pull one, watch for the Servant of illidan to pat away (flying mount if you can, watch them pat away). Rinse and repeat. Takes a while and takes patience, but it works.

Prolly work the same way for other pet classes too.

a tip for Warlocks *might work for mages too,

If your using your pet then use curse of elemental / immolate/corruption, then line up a Soul fire then when soul fire launches immidiatly hit shadow burn.

blows 2 shards but that way i managed to kill them all without to much trouble.

also as the above poster mentioned keep dots up seems to stop them from healing, also noticed that if you stand on top of their "spawn" spot they are less likely to heal.

Another tip for the locks. I found that by keeping the mob feared you will prevent it form engaging into evade mode. The slayers seem to have a real low resistance so you can nuke away while they are running around.

70 Rogue.

Noticed no issues, no bugs, no evading. Just stealth around and do your thing, distract the drakonoids if they get close, and kill the eyes of killrog with 1-2 attacks.

Standard issue quest, completed in about 10 minutes.

As i hunter i took alot of beatings before i had it work for me. The slayers... i dont know if you can call it bugged or nt, but they are annoying thats for sure.

So if you're a hunter with problems this is how you do it:

1) Dismiss you pet
2) Pull a slayer and kite it around an obsticle - keep going around til it dies.

Agreed that this is an annoying kill quest. Lvl 70 Elites wandering around through tightly packed mobs, some of whom run when low on health?

Don't even think about running and losing aggro if one gets on your tail. If you can't Feign or Vanish just take your death like a man and find a safe place to rez later.

I talked to a GM about the evading issue, they said it's a know bug with pets. I tried it without my pet (hunter) and had no problem with the slayers evading. Hopefully it gets fixed in the next patch.

Such an annoying quest, should really be rated for a group of two or three. If you fly around enough you'll find a few safe spots to which you can pull mobs and kill them. For example, on the second from the top terrace, there's a spot behind some rocks by the stairs where you can pull Shadowmoon Chosen without getting noticed by the wandering elites. For any druids trying this quest, here's a fun one: some of the mobs can knock you out of flight form. I tried to body pull a mob to a safespot, ran into one of the elites, started to climb, thing hit me, and poof, fell out of flight form.

Didn't have any evade bugs, though.

Here is how I did it, quickly, with no deaths (requires flying mount):

1) Land on the wall at 71,41. No mob will aggro or pursue you whiel you are standing on this wall, so it is your safe spot. In front of you will be a row of slayers, which are all single pulls.

Wait for the elite and the eye of kilrogg to pass heading west (to your left), then get down off the wall pull and kill 1-3 slayers before hopping back up on the wall to wait for the elite pat again. Note: You need to fly to get back up on the wall, so give yourself time to mount. Once you get your 8 slayers move to...

2) Fly to 72,38 land on the Darkweaver and kill him. you are safe here from all except a Chosen pat on a long walk (kill him if he comes by), but all of the nearby mobs are bugged so you wil want ot move. Fly to 71,39 and repeat on this darkweaver.

3) Fly to 70,35 and land on the wall. This wall is different from the wall in step 1 in that mobs CAN and WILL path up onto it. So time your kills to avoid the elite pat, and be in the air when he is coming around. He's on a fairly long path, maybe 2 minutes. Stay here and kill Chosen until you are done.

Note: To compensite for a slow spawn timer, you can alternate between steps 2 and 3 as the spawns appear.

Note: Take the time to learn how the elite path to your kill spot. it will prevent long lonely trips from the gy.

As for the Slayers, I had the same evade problem. Just let them kill my pet and FD'ed. I went the to the 72,41 location and just killed 8 of them there. All up the wall. Did it before the Elite was able to pat back.

Then, for the Darkweaver, I just went onto the little arches coming out of the ground, one at 71,38 for an example and killed the them from up there. Went to each arch and did the same for the all the Weavers. Kinda tricky to land on them, but once you do so, it is an easy kill.

For the Chosens, I went to 72,38, killed the Weaver, and pulled the Chosens from the four of them right in front. mobs on the right did not aggro.

Pretty easy quest if you can get good spots.

As a mage I found that sheeping one of the slayers and killing the other seemed to solve the evade problem. Really wasn't all that bad of a quest. Tubers were far more annoying.

The spot in the middle of the big wide staircase is great. You can get the Slayers and Chosens from that spot and you won't get jumped by any elites. Then you can just fly in and drop on top of the caster mobs, kill them, then get out before a patrol comes by. Not a bad quest, if you have a flying mount. If you don't, quest somewhere else (like Netherstorm) and come back when you do.

I did this as a protection warrior at lvl69. Warriors - get a group. This is impossible solo because of the genius who put 70 elites in there as well as eyes that constantly patrol and pull aggro to you.

It is hard solo, probably 40 minutes or more to complete. With a group, even just two of you, youd get this done in 15minutes. GG blizzard, another stupid and useless bunch of npcs to make our lives harder.

My tip if your soloing it. Ride in up to the stairs, clear the slayers, then take on the 3 chosens. Just those 3, kill one one you get the elite patrols down pat. Then hide, then go for the next one, and continue until they respawn and you have all 8. Then go down to the shadowcaster, the single one before the stairs, kill him repeatively and hide waiting for the elite pat to go by.

Solo'd as a 70 Shadow Priest in 20 minutes, flying mount required for this method.

66, 42 Slayers are single pulls, killed all 8 on the way up - avoid the eilte.

I flew in and landed on the corner of the structure at 68, 40 right behind a Darkreaver which did not aggro. If you watch for a minute or two you can establish the patrol patterns and drop down to kill the Darkreaver. A Chosen also patrols right up into the corner you landed at so you can take that too.

The groups of duelling slayers each side i did not bother killing to save myself any possible aggrevation mentioned in above posts. When it was clear i moved to the top of the stairs and pulled the nearest Chosen out of the group of 3 who are facing west. Taking the mob back to the corner where i landed initially for a safe area to kill. Be careful not to aggro the duelling Chosens. Repeat when clear till all Chosens at the top of the stairs are down.

With the first Darkreaver yet to spawn i then flew to 68, 34 for a safe 1 Darkreaver pull.

72, 38 also provides a safe 1 Darkreaver pull.

When they respawn repeat from the corner for any remaining Chosen's.

This worked nice for me, i hope it helps someone :)

I found that 67.7, 34.4 was a great place to land and kill the slayers that you need, either there or the entrance would be good. For Darkweavers, I recommend a flying mount = pick them off one by one.

Rogues and stealthed druids beware. For some stupid ass reason around the coords 71, 38 and 71, 40 your stealth will break for no friggen reason. Nothing detected my stealth, there were no Shadowmoon Eye of Kilrogg around to detect me, my stealth just broke and pretty much died when the elites saw me along with a couple more slayers. Tried to vanish and it broke too.

I just finished this quest, and I definitely agree: Kill the Slayers at the entrance ramp to the area, don't mess with the Slayers elsewhere. (Note to people with a flying mount: you may miss these first Slayers, if you fly up and over, but they're hanging out along the 'ramp' that leads up to the rest of the 'area' .. down by where Doomwalker spawns)

With my flying mount, I landed along the ledges near the Darkweavers, and just picked off the 4 I needed. Be careful, tho, because they DO RUN at low health. Just stay pressed against the ledge, corner, or whatever, and you should be safe from the elites. I killed the wandering Eyes, just to be safe.

And, as others have mentioned, I found a really decent spot for the Chosen. Its at 70.4, 34.5 (for those with a coords addon) or, the very Northern-most tip before the stairs that lead up to the final plateau. There are two sets of two guards, and you can pull them back into the rocky terrain, where the ledges become mountain, and the elites that path along here take long enough to kill one (or two, depending on DPS) before you should re-mount, and fly up to safety ... again, i'd pick off the eyes, just to be safe.

Finished this as a 70 Blood Elf Paladin, with blue gear, and non-epic flyer.

As most people have pointed out go to 71,40 land kill the slayers, kill the Darkweavers, kill the Chosen Ones on the stairs but make sure you time it... if your impatient yes you will get killed... its easy to do as long as you time it right. You can pull the chosen ones off the stairs one at a time... this is by far way easy than that annoying Tuber quest.... which I still have to do <sigh>

I also used Izne's technique and can confirm coordinates are correct. By this level you should definately know your limits so watch your proximity and save yourself the hassle of extra agro'd mobs.

I followed jzne's advice for the slayers and darkreavers. Worked perfectly! However, I found 70,34 was an excellent place to kill the chosen. 4 on the steps, with only one patrol that comes through with much time between patrols.

You are able to entangle the mobs even when you're "inside."

I think I took down about three or four Chosen just by entangle/moonfire/starfire/wrath. By the end I still had 100% health and about 70% mana.

I paged a GM and they told me that the bug exists if you use a pet (read Warlocks and Hunters). If you don't use your pet, you can kill 'em. And this is mostly for the slayers. I haven't had any problems with the other adds. So my fellow locks, fear 'em and dot 'em. Hunters, do what you guys normally do in BG's: aim shot, concuss, frost trap, arcane shot. With all the crits you guys get, he'll be dead before the arcane shot, probably... :))

but i still got it done, only the slayers bug out when pets used. i used this to my advantage at times when killin a weaver. then i landed on the stairs to kill the chosen. Also a chosen usually pats near a weaver so thats an easy kill too. I wouldnt try this if u didnt have a flyer, cause u cant really get past the other mobs. Cheers...

It took me my whole capacity of 7720 mana to kill one Shadowmoon Slayer.

When u are fighting a Shadowmoon Slayer, fight min on the same place where he originaly is placed where they are positioned otherwise they will evade forever.

I killed the slayers at the ramp leading in .. then flew to 71, 34 and landed right on the corner of the steps. There are 4 choosen posted on the steps and a few pathers with 2 DWers near by. I had no problem, just watch for the elites (2 path up there) and the eyes ( I killed them whenever I could )and you are all good.

Hunter Heads Up - Just to see what happened I used a snake trap and it reset them as well.

there in the corner, at the invisible wall, u can evade them also, killing all mobs on the platform just above it, when u get in trouble or one evades, jump down and run into that corner, u will be out of combat

69 frost mage, AH/Quest geared solo'd in about 25 minutes. Just be careful, pay attention to your surroundings and where your 'safe' spots are. I started at the bottom of the ramp and worked my way up. The 70 elites path in a zig-zag pattern so it wasn't too hard to avoid them.

Another way to have them NOT reset is to use a flying mount, fly 10 feet over them and within 5 feet of them, and dismount, you'll drop right near them and they'll fight you without moving. Since the have no where to evade to, they simply fight to the death. quest complete.

This is the way to do this quest for 70s with flyers
Coords for the chosen are 70,34 Up on the almost highest level. Beware the elite pats by every two minutes. Here you can aggro mobs easily one at a time, and no elites will pop out of nowhere
Coords for the Darkweavers and some slayers are 69,34 just one level down.
beware the elite pat every minute 30 seconds, simply wait till he pats out, jump in, get your kills then move on.

Coords for extra slayers are at 67,34 No elites pat here.
The guy in the tent on this ground level starts the shattered halls attunement quest.

I don't think that is a quest that can be done alone. First of all, There are 70 elite Drakonids that hit just as hard if not harder than the ones in BWL. These Drakonids are mixed in with the mobs you need to kill. This makes it really hard to complete without dying 100 times.

I got 2 of the shadowweavers and all of the slayers I needed, but as far as the rest goes, it was just too hard and expensive to do it alone.

It needs to be labeled as a "group" quest.

FWIW, I'm a (just turned) 69 combat spec rogue and soloed this one. It's not bad if you take your time, keep an eye on the pats/demons/eyes and save your "oops button" (vanish for rogues) for dire circumstances.

I did the whole thing in about an hour with no deaths, so just because *some* folks can't do it until lvl 70 is no reason to discourage others.

The trick I found was to find the stairs around 71,38 and use this as your fighting area. Waiting for the elites to go out of this zone, single a target and dps the s**t out of it - aimed shot/conc shot/arcane/multi - by then he's in melee range so scatter and rinse repeat. TAKE CARE TO MOUNT UP ON FLYING MOUNT TO REGEN HP/MANA

A neat little trick I discovered that helped a little is use your flying mount to aggro the green eyes. They will run to a guard and despawn. So before you land you can knock out every eye around you in seconds. Then just land somewhere safe and start clearing from your safe zone pulling mobs into it.

I found that if you use an explosive trap right on top of the slayers, when they reset, the Ground AoE hits them before they have a chance to regen their health and they aggro again.

I am a leve 70 prot spec'd warrior and here is how I killed Shodowmoon Chosen:

There is a nook just to the east of the stairs located at 71,36. I flew into that nook and pulled the four Shadowmoon Chosen back into the nook to kill them. After each kill I would get on my flying mount, helicopter straight up to make sure there were no elites or eyes close. After I killed all four I would go kill Darkweavers and Slayers to kill time for respawns.

I flew up and landed in the corner at 72,38. I would kill the Darkweaver in the corner, pull some of the Chosen from the stairs, and kill the Slayers along the sides. Most of them could be pulled into that corner in between the patrols of the 70 elite. The Slayers did go into evade a couple of times, but as long as the timing was right with the patrol, I was able to move a little farther out of my corner and get them without too many problems. Once I had killed everything on the side where I was working, I ran into the corner at 72,36 and did the same thing. It took a little patience but really wasn't too bad--I had soulstoned myself and was back in Shattrath before the stone expired.

Since I'd read the quest was bugged for pet-users, I sacrificed my demon before I started, so I can't say whether or not that bug has been fixed.

You CAN do this without a flying mount.

As you go up the ramp, stay right, avoiding the elites of course.

Once you get to the first turn to the right (before the stairs), work your way over to behind the smiths hut on the left side.

From behind here you can work up the steps. Once clear, the middle of the steps are safe from the elites.

There is one Darkweaver easily available from there, just watch out for wanderers. He is NOT the one visible on the left side. Instead, at the top of the left steps, look right. You will see a Darkweaver there. Pull, but run back to bottom of the top set of steps. This will get him out of wanderer paths long enough to kill him.

This was SUPERB advice. Easy peasy! To add... Just hover over your Darkweaver at 72,38, target, drop and kill. Then kill the two slayers nearby(they aren't linked) and a couple of nearby Chosen pulling them up the ramp. I did 72,38 then went to the opposite corner and did 70,38. 4 drops and the job was done. No deaths. Just keep an eye out for the Elites and Eye's (who won't aggro if you pull things for killing to your pink 'glyph' that you won from the Darkweaver).

Watch, the Darkweavers run when near death, and the Chosen have a nasty knockback (keep right on top of your glyph and you'll be fine). I had no evades.

quite easy alright. Did it all at 68,40. Flew in and dropped down on the darkweaver. Killed the same one 4 times - picked up the others while waiting for the spawns. All it takes is a little patience and keeping an eye out for the eyes and pats.

Description

You did well against the Ashtongue Broken, <name>. I have another challenge for you, should you be up to it.

Not too long ago, the Sanctum of the Stars suffered a tremendous attack by Illidan's fel orcs.

We've determined it was perpetrated by the Shadowmoon orcs who occupy the Ata'mal Terrace.
