All three soil samples can be found around coordinates 72, 22, north of Forge Camp: Anger. Once you've found the southern sample, the two others are just north.

You'll know you're in the right place when you see the fire elementals and scorched imps, in an region called Skald.

There are a lot of elementals and imps here, be prepared for a significant amount of fire damage. Consider bringing a friend.

Probably soloable by all classes, but as a 67 Warrior I found this quest a real pain. The Fire Elemental's "Immolation" hits you for 135 fire damage every second while in melee range, much like the Night Elf Hero (Demon Stalker) / Illidan look-alike from Warcraft III.

An extreme pain if several mobs are pulled, be careful!

The soil disappears for a little while after someone uses it, so if you can't seem to find them, consider waiting a minute or two for them to respawn.

Watch out rogues, these elementals are bugged so they like follows you around even when you're out of combat.

The mobs will see you in stealth, flying with mount wont help. You will be followed by them anyway. Seen them follow you all the way back to base where you return the quest. So make sure you dont have any unwelcomed guests behind you.

these mobs are very buggy. they will spawn and immediately come after you even when you're out of combat and stealthed.

be prepared to have like 2-3 come after you.

So that explains why I, after escaping them and falling down to the pikes over Gruul's Lair suddenly got killed by 2 Searing Elementals.

I wondered why they would spawn there.
Way too much res sickness while questing in Blade's Edge Mountain :(

Seems like those fire elementals at the Central one are going to follow you till u kill them. I had em following me around for while, i did get out of combat but still they came.

As frost mage they were easy to kill. And the quest is easily soloable as frostie.

I did this today on my 70 prot warrior. After I planted the south and central seeds, I noticed 2 elementals on me. I was able to get out of combat long enough to mount up on my flying mount.

As I flew up to get the north pile and I noticed the 2 elementals still on me. So I /console reloadui...they were still there. I sent in a ticket then exited the game completely. When I came back on, they were still aggro'd onto my warrior (on flying mount and 50ft in the air). So I thought I'd kite them to Ruuan Weald and have the NPC's take care of them. I think they bugged out when I flew over the spiked cliffs because I didn't see them after that.

After I did the north pile another elemental aggro'd on me (mob was quite a distance from me and didn't aggro before I clicked the pile). While I was trying to get him down, I got ganked. When I went back to my body, the elemental aggro'd on my ghost for lil. I got ganked again trying to take the mob out. This time I didn't release and made sure the lock that ganked me took down the elemental. It seemed to work.

When I talked to the GM, they said they could neither confirm nor deny the aggro'd elementals were part of any quest. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they are.

These mobs can also see through vanish. I was done with the quest and two were on me so i decided to just vanish and turn in but after vanishing the two just kept following me, about 5yds from my back, which was very odd. So then i mounted up and left and they started attacking me. ???lol

This place is torture...no Immolate, relying on Corruption and Curse of Agony and killing my mana with Shadowbolt and Drain Life, oh yeah...and a fire damage wand...then having another mob come from behind...Felguard dies ive no mana to re summon only banish the mob then he comes after me and kills me....one more to go with ALL my armour in the red...

best thing to do, get a friend who is mooncloth spec, give him the primals, while your lvling so he can have cloth for you when you hit 70, or until you can make your own, that way the 72 days of CDs used to make this set are part over while your lvling

Talk about bugged. I had to go to the bathroom so I flew up to be safe.. yeah right when I came back there was this elemental up in the air that killed me.. And cannot get back to my corpse as it "hangs" high up in the air.. Poor Frostis (an Allie) died like me just a bit away..

This quest appears to be fixed. I had 0 aggro problems and 0 problems overall completing this.

As of Patch 2.1 I had no crazy aggro issues with the Searing Elementals (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=20514). Be sure to kill a few of them before you leave as they drop Mote of Fire at a rather decent rate that sell very well on AH or you can bank them for future enchants, etc...

Can be a very annoying quest, easy to aggro several things at once. Also as mentioned the places is farmed pretty heavily at times so you may want to watch for the opposing faction, although every time I've been there they usually just ignore you an pay more attention to the elementals. One thing you also need to watch out for is the quick respawn rate. I killed an elemental before planting the seeds, but before I got done planting another had spawned virtually in the same place and stopped me from planting.... had that happen 2 more times before I was finally able to get them planted.

If you are going to sell the reward for gold, the staff nets you 8g 35s, while the bow only sells for 5g and the shield 4g 40s.

some reason, the seeds had disapeared from my bag when i got there.

my friend had some, and i got cred for doing the quest, but i get back and the dumb tree want the seed back that (i thought) he never gave me.

i thought maybe i sent them to my alt as they look exactly like spices for cooking. but no you cant send quest items.

they werent in my alts mailbox anyway.

then i though id sold them. but you cant sell quest items.

go figure?

Paladins, don't forget your Exorcism, use it on the imps, they go down in 2 seconds flat. Overall it wasn't too difficult (68 Ret Paladin), just had to make sure not to aggro more than 2 at a time, snapped my fire resistance aura and went at it. I found the hardest hitting thing around there are the darn basilisks >_<

confirmed the coords, its not a hard quest, just make sure you clear
the area mob by mob. respawn time of the monsters is rather quick, i'd
say about 2 or 3 minutes.

This was one of the easiest quests I have done so I don't think it is bugged anymore. It is true that fire elementals near the mound are agro'd but you can kill around the mound first and as a frost mage it is easy to kill 3 of the elementals at a time. Use ice barrier, pop your elemental, use a damage trinket and it is cake. I didn't even have to drink afterwards just killed me way to the next mound and then drank.

confirmed, they will chase you very very far. I ran out and vanished after i realized I wouldn't survive, then after sitting for maybe 3 seconds after they dropped aggro, they moved back out to where i was. And as I was moving away, they were following me... even though I was stealthed... they weren't attacking me until they actually got on top of me... very odd behavior. =/ in the end i died.

Ok.
1: Quit whinning about this quest. Easy as hell if you know how to press your damn keyboard.

2: Good to combine this with killing imps quest.

3: Quest is NOT glitched, elementals do NOT follow you back to eversong, elementals do NOT spawn when you finsish quest or click mounds. Blizz either fixed it or these other chumps where on glitchy servers.

4: Staff is best Vendor Choice.

5: Coords are Southern 72, 23 Central 71, 20 Northern 80, 18

This is the worst quest ever. I am a 67 shaman, with 6100 hp. When I fight one (!) I get down too 1500 hp, even with fire resis totem. And you are lucky if there aren't 2-3 mob crawling you back while fighting. They hit 250 fire damage and every 15 sec, their sheild gives 1200 fire damage over 10 sec..! Worst quest ever!

I did not experience the same problem with elementals. They stopped following me after several seconds like any other mob would. They never spawned when click on mound so no surprises. I saw only fire elementals which were already visible and guarding the mound. The only time I saw mobs follow me forever were when the server was lagging which was not often.

Rogues and stealthed druids beware. The fire elementals have some form of odd aggro where they will follow you while you are stealthed even if they dont see you.

unless you really need the xp or quest reward, i would advise you don't bother with this one. some of the fire elementals agro from a long ways away, and when i was trying it there was a never ending spawn of 2 of them at the central soil. not a fun quest.

If you find yourself looking at the best vendor price item, go for the staff. The shield was only 4g 40s, whereas the staff went for 8g 35s.

Died twice while doing this quest, wish i had brought my fire resistance gear with me xD.
Try and avoid mobs as much as possible.

Ok, the coordinates weren't so bad. The quest is defenetly bugged in the worse way. It's pretty easy to get in, kill mobs and do the mounds, not bad at all. The problem is after you are done. You have tons of the fire elementals come out of no where after you. I used sacrifice from my void, ran to the main road and showed I was leaving fight. Summoned my void and all of the sudden, I have 4 fire elementals come after me again. I run and run and run and run, some leave, more come. This went on none stop until they killed me and funny enough, more go and come, to be corpse camped by these mobs. Funniest thing ever, but very annoying since I had to angel rez and spend over 3g on repairs. Submitted a ticket to blizz, which I'm sure they got plenty of them.

Just to add to the fun of these fire elementals, my hunter feigned death and it wasn't resisted.

Oh no. They just stopped patrolling and stood over my body until I came back up. They waited the whole six minutes.

co-ords are just about right may be off +/- 1 depending on what mod ur using.

look for a big lump of dirt if theres a forest like some grass and brown trees someone has already planted the seeds and ur gonna have to wait a couple minutes.

Just did both quest 68 rogue no problems at all did not stealth much at all just cleared my way in and out 13mins both quest so maybe not bugged anymore because seemed pretty easy to me.

lol this is some boku bs right here, i had 3 elementals follow me alllll the way back to evergrove. they see through stealth and vanish dont work for a damn either. all i gotta say is be careful while your in this area

Yeah, they will chase you forever. I mounted up and went back to evergrove with one chasing me. Thought it had turned back around but after about 30 seconds there it was in evergrove with the guards killing it. Very odd.

A little prewarning:
After you right click on those little mounds, about 2 minutes later 2 mobs are proned to you and come after ya. Absolutely stupid but for some reason Blizzard made it that way.
Didn't figure it out till the second time.
With how many baddies are around there, this quest is very frustrating and possibly one of the worst thoughtout areas Blizzard put in. (not outland, Skald)
I would suggest a party even for you people who have great soloable skills. Because sooner or later your going to agro more than you can chew... about 3 or 4 times.

OK, after reading these posts I stocked up on Greater Fire Protection potion... and never used it. Elementals at first seemed pretty thick, but taking one at time and watching aggro, it wasn't at all bad (though I did use a few bandages). I did this along with Little Embers, and by the time I had the seeds planted I had more than enough Imp kills. No spawns to speak of; the only thing that were a pain were the Basilisks (they seem to have a pretty wide cruising radius). Took about 1/2 hour to complete both quests - and nothing "chased me back to Evergrove"... no worse than usual. Lost a whopping 3% off my armor, cost a couple of silver to repair!

Level 69 Marksman Hunter with 68 Nightsaber pet.

Description

If you follow the road east and up the side of the mountain, then turn north, you will come to my long lost home.

Once there was a wood there. Its name is forgotten. Long ago the Burning Legion summoned scorched imps and other creatures of flame. My home was destroyed and my people fled. Now only I remain.

I have saved some ironroot seeds that could be planted in fertile volcanic soil. Their magic is strong. Do this for me and I will share with you the treasures of a forgotten age.
