I just noticed the map in the pic shows he's almost due west of the last guy, but I always find him in a hut almost due east. Is it possible he could be at any of the huts along the path to the last guy? Has anyone seen him elsewhere than already mentioned or shown in the pic?

I'm not sure why he's listed as a normal elite, as he doesn't spawn every time you run RFD.

in MANGOS servers there was a bug that ragglesnout dropped about 36k gold. easy money dont you think so?

Ragglesnout mob seems to be quite rare. If you wish to farm him, I recommend getting a higher level to help you out.

At first i got some help from a Warlock, but we didn't get him to spawn a single time out of 5 runs.

Then later I got a hunter to help me. He could quickly run inside and Feign death, and use his abilities to check for humanoids. If Ragglesnout wasn't there he just reset the instance and tried again. We only cleared the trash if Ragglesnout was around, so it saved some time.
It went so fast that we reached the instance limit quite fast (5 per hour). Then we came back later to try some more.

We did about 15 runs in total, and he spawned 4 times, dropping shield,shield,belt and finally sword!

PS: Imagine doing this with a pickup group,where you also have to compete for the loot. You'd have to be lucky, or very patient, to get Ragglesnout treasures.

This guy is awesome for warriors since all of his drops are good for warriors. The belt will be replaced and the shield is good but the one from SM might be better not sure and the sword is awesome

Despite this NPCs large sword he is much more of a caster than a fighter. He will spend most his time casting shadowbolt and only engage in melee when out of mana.

I went into this instance on my 70 priest to farm the belt for my warrior twink (was level 27 at the time). I found it fairly easy to farm even though it has a rubbish spawn rate (wouldnt be rare otherwise).

Run in, turn directly right and kill the two/three packs of undead mobs. Now stand on the broken bridge and on the right of the bridge on the coil there is a hut, mouse over that (or use mind vision etc) to see if he is there, if he isnt he might be on the left side of the bridge but you will need some sort of ranged viewing talent to see (mind vision rocks!).

If he isnt there, run out, reset and run back in - warning: You can only do this 5 times an hour! He spawns every 1 in 10 runs or so for me. When he is inside I get a friend to kill him while I enter on my twink. He dropped the sword once and then the belt the next.

I was farming for X'Caliboar and found that yes, he only spawns next to the 3 huts and in my case I did 68 runs (yuck!) and got him to spawn 10 of those runs so about 1:7 for me.

I found that I could kill the first pack of mobs and skip the second if you jump over to the left of them (very tricky). From there setup a macro to /target Rag and begin mashing it at the broken bridge. Drop down, head along the wall clockwise, mashing the macro, and then climb up the ledge around the 10 o'clock portion. He can spawn at the hut on your right and if not, continue heading clockwise until about 12 and you'll come across the last hut he can spawn at. Average run without a Ragglesnout spawn was 4-6 minutes.

Ragglesnout is a rare spawn.

To detect if he spawned for fast Ragglesnout runs, once you enter the instance take the tunnel to the right until you see the broken bridge, try to get up the bridge withouth falling and /target Ragglesnout.
If he spawned, you can target at this point.

Then you just have to get the low char to enter the instance, clear area and go for the loot!!

To get Ragglesnout you have to follow the right tunnel, when you get the spiral follow right, 2 groups and then him.

easy way to see if hes there. and trying to get him. get a high rogue to go to spiral. then "/target raggle" if hes there you will get him. then mark him as somthing and the mark will show through the spiral and all leading you to him.

I've been running this dungeon for the past three nights trying to get everything from Ragglesnout for my wife's 35 Warrior. Lost count of the number of times we ran it. In my case he would show up on average I would say once every three runs. Searching for this guy really is best suited for a Druid I think. I could easily stealth in and track him with the track humanoids ability.

Our problem is we really wanted the shield. But this thing would just never drop! Finally one did but before it did we ended up with 3 x'caliboars and 10+ belts. I'm really glad to be done with RFD for now.

The 30 mob thing is what I call the RFD Syndrome. You aggro monsters further up the spiral and they'll all come crashing down on you in an avalanche of hurt. I've had it happen a couple times but I've never seen Ragglesnout.

They were talking about the 30 mobs after you kill Plaguemaw. Ragglesnout is a rare spawn (I've done RFD 3 times in a day, saw him on third time only.) in a place where a single lonely Skeleton usually is. It's on the spiral up towards Amnennar. I got the shield, pretty decent for my level. SM Has a better drop though.

Ragglesnout is a rare spawn, and just because he is a rare spawn doesn't meant that 30+ mobs start charging at you to kill you...
The drop percentages are pretty much correct on teh loot table above. We had to reset the instance 4 times to get him to spawn.
I'm a 52 hunter and I decided to check their "feign death resistance" i didnt have a problem using it with half the instance chasing me.
Ragglesnout is with a group of about 5 other mobs, 1-2 of which are elites.
He is 3 mob groups away from the top of the spiral.
If you ask e this instance has a great deal of killer warrior drops, great transition from mail to plate instance.

I saw this guys loot table on thottbot and figured i just had to get these items for my warrior, so using my 60 druid i would stealth in and use detect humanoid and go stealth to the end boss spiral.

i do this a dozen times and always kill glutton for shards and to make sure im getting new instances , finally the game tells me i have to many instances open (a dozen or two plus times) and still no ragglesnout , so i log in my rogue and do the same thing and again after like 15 times and still nothing i get the closed instance.

so i log in my druid AGAIN and try one last time and sure enough /target raggle picks him up and hes on track , the very first corner past glutton , so i go back tot he start and clear to him and then log in my warrior and the two characters drop him .. i get the sword (its what i wanted most) so im thinking .. hey maybe its a lucky spree

8 tries laster and still nothing , time for bed .. the point of this story , this guy can be HELLA rare OR he spawns in other areas other then just the lich's spire area

im a shaman and was running RFD to get Deathchill armor but managed to get both the Savage Boar's Guard and Boar Champion's Belt from this rare guy on 2 seperate runs before i even saw the Deathchill armor drop from from the last boss

the last boss finally dropped the armour the same run that i got the belt though so i was happy since i had dinged 44 that run and some mobs were becoming grey to me

also ive seen this dude spawn in 2 different places on the spiral, so if u want to take the short cut do a quick /tar raggle if you dont encounter him on the way up to make sure u didnt miss him. im guessing he spawns randomly in one of the groups, both times he was standing in the doorway of those huts right next to one of the groups

This guy really doesnt seem like that rare of a spawn, I perosnally have seen him in this instance maybe like 30%of the time I go into it, and I have gone several times, having at least 4 guys over level 40 on Horde I have seen my share of RFD. Basically he's not super rare it seems, and Xcaliboar seems to be a good drop for people looking to replace a whirlwind sword since it hits harder and is slower (I think).
But I got a 60 to run me through because I wanted to get Vanquisher's Sword to main hand with my offhand Sword of Omen. anyway gtg 2h ftl, Fury Dual Wielding owns my face.

i seen this instance while playing on my rogue around lvl 42 and my warrior was around lvl 10 so i got my uncle's 60pally and a few other friends to take me thru so we were going to start heading to the lich king and i seen this huge boar and he was named so im like lets smoke his ass... he was cake we smoked him and the 5 other mobs around him and nobody else spawned there so those 30mobs is a lie ~ he dropped the belt and i was pissed cause rogue = leather not mail and my warrior was way to low - this was like a year ago so now my rogue is 60th and my warrior is 41 and i plan on going back there after all this time to kill that bastard again for his sword and smoke the rest of the instance for all the plate a warrior would want ---- so this guy is still there and is a rare spawn - dont worry bout those mobs they are from a different part of the instance and good luck to all - ise 60rogue on gilneas

first off, Ragglesnout is a Very rare spawn so its not even that worth it to try and farm him. Also, he does not aggre other mobs when killed. He is inside this giant boar skull half-way imbedded in the rock wall it is leaning against. there are a few quilboars and regular boars standing aroung him and they do aggro when you pull him. Ragglesnout is rather hard to kill due to his high amount of HP and his very strong offense and defense.

He droped X'caliboar.

On a mission to find X'caliboar for my warrior I took my druid in to scout the instance using track humanoids and stealth. After seven attempts (surprisingly didn't take that long going in and out the instance to reset it) Ragglesnout appeared on my mini map, I quickly switched to my warrior (29) and played with a friend to the location of the boss (the location being on the left of the spiral path) slightly different to that on the map posted.

After the carnage Ragglesnout was slain and he dropped the Belt... I was pleased with the reward and we ventured futher up to take the boss at the top of the spiral and she dropped the plate helmet so i was pleased x2 and considered myself lucky.

Things to watch out for:-

1) Getting into the instance isn't easy and if your a low level warrior like me trying to get in your better off having some help from a friend.

2) Ragglesnout is tougher than you might think

3) Resetting the instance too many times causes a virtual clock to start ticking until you can enter another instance. It temporally blocks you from entering instances, so be careful when scouting for him as you may have to wait an hour before you can go back in to look again (it is after something like 6 or 7 resets)

So, Ragglesnout down, a nice belt and helmet in my inventory for later levels, still, I really did like the idea of having his sword… Then, one day unexpectedly, a good friend of mine offered to take me through in order to find this sword, I took him up on his offer and we entered the instance. Low and behold Ragglesnout was there on our first try. He was in the exact place the map says (on the right hand side of the spiral path (first hut)). It ended well and I looted the corpse overjoyed to see X'caliboar
I thanked my friend profusely.

All in all Ragglesnout spawned twice for me, once after 7 resets and once on our first try.

ran RFD with my paladin and 70 shaman friend helping out...did the instance 13 times with one ragglesnount....if your going for this sword..be prepared for alot of runs....his spawn rate is not nearly as high as others had said...in then end..not even sure if the wep is worth the time i've put in.

Yeah, the spawn rate is WAY less than you guys said, ive dont this instance about 14 times and havent seen him once, I dont know about you, but thats pretty bad for a 37-41 instance.

He spawns on the sprial towards the end boss, if he spawns (which he is a"rare" spawn) He will be by the hut under the broken bridge. Thats where I found him running my level 39 warrior friend with my 65 mage.

He uses mind-control, so be careful.

Iam trying get sword and belt now (for my ret pala twink)
already have Shadowblade and Witchfury but want some weap with +stats no only ocessionally shadow bolt and nice mail belt ofc (got leather blue one) in this moment i was in RFD 4x times, but no Ragglesnout spawn yet :-/ I think it will be long :D

While farming RFD for shards with my 70 Lock, I found that he is spawned about 20 to 25% of the time. To make sure he is there you need to scout with a rogue or a high level character. A 70 can dodge most of the mobs when you take the Undead/Scourge path (right hand path as you enter RFD). The first place he could spawn is near the hut on the ground lvl of the South East side of the spiral. The other location is on the first lvl of the spiral on the North West side of the spiral. BTW this dungeon is great for farming Small radiant Shards. Average about 8 per 30mins.

if you /target ragglesnout before you start instance, you can see if hes there before you start it, if hes not, leave wait 10seconds and retry until hes there. Save A LOT of time.

HOW TO FARM FOR RAGGLESNOUT:

If you really want to farm for these items, then you are probably twinking a warr/pally (like me). Finding a way to farm for a rare easily is a great way to speed up the process. If you are twinking, then it is likely you have a high main (to pay for those level 35 item outland enchants, i.e. mongoose), and therefore you likely have friends at high levels who will help you.

1)park ur warr/pally outside the instance (there is a spot to avoid detection and if u aggro just run in)
2)have ur high lvl go immediately to the right and kill the mob of mobs waiting.
3)as your high lvl progresses along the tunnel, he/she will come to a circular cave-like area with a broken brigde extending to the left and 2 groups of undead waiting in front.
4)have him/her kill the left group toward the bridge and stand on the edge spamming the macro /target ragglesnout
5)if Ragglesnout is there, then you will see part of him on the far side of the hut. if not, he will not be there.
6)have the high lvl kill up to him and then come in yourself for the kill if he is there. if not, reset and repeat.

note: if you have reset too many times, then dont reset and then farm the mobs for mageweave/silk and if u disenchant, then kill the bosses for the BOP blues while waiting (small radiant shard possibly).

I think the drop % is off on the belt, ive done about 90 instances for it and I got 8 savage boar's guards and 3 X'Caliboars. Im starting to get discouraged.

He can't be all that rare. I remember back when my paladin was 40ish some months ago I saw him my first run, none of us knew he was rare. He dropped the shield, I won it. Used it for awhile then went back to 2h.

How many runs would be expected for him to appear? The shields is not special due to the Aegis of the Scarlet Commander, the sword is only really good for comic value, but man, that belt is very nice for a shaman, unfortunately you get too much str/sta mail.

So does anyone have a real answer to how he spawns?

I have seen him in about 25% of RFD runs.
I only noted Raggle in two locations: 2nd and 3rd hut on the spiral leading to Amnennar the Coldbringer. First hut from the buttom of the spiral is located E, 2nd hut is N(E) and 3rd hut is W (where you see the thick thorny branch over the path).
If you want to check if he is up you can take the path to the right of the entrance. Clear the first group and you see a big room with 2 groups and a single mob in front, clear as much as u have to (depending on your agro range) to get on the little piece of broken bridge in this room. From here you can target Ragglesnout if he is up at the 3rd hut by typing: "/tar ragg". (The 3rd hut is the one you look down upon to your right, notice the thick branch?).
To check if he is up at the 2nd hut you can use your "Eye of Kilrogg" if you are a warlock, it will reach the 2nd hut easily from the room with the broken bridge.

We saw him on our first run through tonight, by a hut on the way up to the Lich. He dropped X'caliboar (heheheh). However we didn't see him on either of the other two runs we did, seems it's random whether he turns up.

Doing quick RFD runs for money on my Protection Warrior. So far seen this dude 2 out of 19 runs. He's very rare!

Ragglesnout is a level 40 Elite that will cast shadowbolt and will sometimes mind-control a player within level range. Ragglesnout can do pretty good damage for this level, so bring a healer or a high-level friend that can take the damage or resist the shadowbolt and mind-control abilities.

At the time of writing this, I have farmed this rare 6 times. I have gotten the X'caliboar sword 4 times and the Savage Boar's Guard Shield 2 times. Each time I have found him, Ragglesnout has appeared on the right side of the spiral after Glutton, either at the first hut (approximately 5 o'clock) or the second hut (approximately 2 o'clock) positions.

Ragglesnout has an undead placeholder (Splinterbone Warrior) at either of these locations. As previously suggested, a higher level druid can stealth in cat form and put up track humanoids to see if Ragglesnout is up.

One other thing I noticed while farming him is the ground critter spawns of Roaches and Black Rats. Roaches typically hang out more toward the Quillboar side (straight ahead from entering) and Black Rats typically hang out near the undead side (turn right after entering). If you see quite a few roaches on the undead side (heading towards the spire of Amenennar), there is a good chance that either Ragglesnout or his place holder is up at one of the hut locations previously mentioned.

The 3 items he drops are pretty good (IMO) for a level 39 twink Warrior or Paladin and not exactly difficult to farm if you have a higher level druid to scout for him.

On a (ill-fated) whim, I decided I would try and reach the dream I always had of owning X'caliboar by running my alt paladin through to get it.

In 56 IDs I saw Ragglesnout 17 times (~30%), he dropped 9 shields and 7 belts before dropping a sword.

Going down the right tunnel, if you jump down at the bridge any mobs that were chasing you will evade up above, as long as you don't run to the right afterwards, if you get close to the end of the ramp they'll chase you down. Go left, hop up the thorn onto the spiral just before the tunnel. Every time I saw Ragglesnout he was either at the hut just down ramp from there, right beside the jump, or the hut just up the ramp from there. I can't say for certain that he cannot spawn at any of the other huts up the ramp (the down ramp one is the first hut going up) but he always spawns at a hut and I haven't seen him anywhere else. Run up the spiral then drop down and run up the ramp to the broken bridge. Any mobs you've aggroed on the spiral will evade as long as you aren't jumping down beside the place you jumped onto the spiral. Run out and try again, hopefully less than 56 times, which was something like a 1% chance low roll on my part.

Ragglesnout is so rare that it's not worth it to try to farm him for X'caliboar, in my opinion. The Sword of the Magistrate is almost as good and way easier to obtain.
