Final boss in the Cystalforged Rune fight.

Complete the daily quest "Banish More Demons!" and get a goodie bag, with the chance to reward you a darkrune. If you get one, take it to Gahk, who will give you a crystalforged rune.

Take this rune to the teleporter just south of Forge Camp Wrath, north of Ogri'la and use it to begin the event.

Shartuul is the final boss you fight, and he will be lootable by you once the fight is over. Epic-quality loot ahoy!

i finally got him today (big tip: iceblock the incinerate, when you get to 20% use your special, make sure to have plenty of crystal focus's, when you use this make sure to have flame buffet on him go aspect of shadow siphon life and use your shadow blast (i cant remember the name) it will restore you to pretty much full life). Make sure you have a LONG time to play vs him, it was a very long fight for me.

Here's my way of doing the Shartuul's Transporter event.

Each demon will have a set of abilities, and they must to used in conjunction with each other if you want to finish this event. The ability on the far right is a "super" and will consume 1/2 charged crystal foci when you use it.

Phase 1: Felguard

Abilities:
Mortal Strike: High damage single target, 3 second cooldown.
Whirlwind: Does about MS damage over time to every mob within melee range over a couple of seconds. (Imps run away from this.) About 15 second cooldown.
Fear: Instant AoE fear, use this to buy some time and set up a charge on the boss. 15 second cooldown
Charge: Charges to your target and deals high damage (One shots all trash) to the mob and others around it.
Life Drain: Bugged, but it can be assumed from the tooltip that it will hit every demon in the event area and drain their life. Consumes 1 crystal focus.

Strategy:

MS the felhounds.

Charge the imps if you feel like it. (The imps usually don't get one shotted by MS, but you can MS them if you want.)

Use whirlwinds on imps during the beginning, once felhounds start spawning in more than 4, wait for them to gather up on you and whirlwind.

Use charge on approaching mobs to take care of large groups.

Use throw hammer whenever it's up, once the shield reaches 0%, the boss spawns and all remaining adds die.

Boss: Doomguard thing.

Very easy, doable even with only 30% health. Start the fight with a charge, MS, then whirlwind. Fear him when charge is up, and repeat the cycle.

Get him down to low health and you'll take control of the new demon.

Phase 2: Doomguard

Abilities:
Punishing Blow: Similiar to Felguard's Mortal Strike. However, does triple damage against stunned targets.
Fire Breath: Does about 3k dps to targets in a cone in front of you.
Throw Knife: Does minimal damage (about 2k) and stuns for 3 seconds.
Super Jump: Does damage to everything in about a 5 yard radius from you and jumps to your target. Deals the same damage to mobs around the spot you land on. Stuns for 3 seconds.
Consume Gan'arg: Does about 80% damage to a Gan'arg and heals you for damage done.
Ultimate Jump: Flies into the air, becoming completely immune and bombs everything below you to death. Only usable once during the phase. Save if for the boss.

Strategy:

During this phase, get a good feeling with strafing (only need 5 yards for the minimum range on your attacks). It is imperative that you are able stun the mobs, in order to get the most out of your punishing strikes.

For the first few waves, only small Gan'arg will spawn. Gan'args will try to run off somewhere and summon a fel cannon, which will be the main source of damage done to you. Super jump onto the Gan'arg doing a channel into the ground and kill him (alternatively, consume it for health).

Later into the phase, larger acid spewing demons will spawn. When you see one spawn, immediately super jump it, PS, strafe, throw, PS, and use fire breath to finish it and the adds off.

After a couple waves, the boss will come from the teleporter.

Boss: Shivan Assassin

I advise using the super when the Shivan Assassin spawns. It'll get rid of the adds and deal massive damage to the boss.

The boss is basically a stronger version of the big Gan'arg. Super jump, PS, strafe, throw axe, PS, fire breath, strafe, axe, PS, strafe, super jump, and so on so forth.

Once you get to 20%, you take control of the Shivan Assassin and go into the third and final phase.

Phase 3: Shivan

Abilities:

Fire Form: 30% extra speed.
Pyroblast: Fire damage.
Flame Buffet: Instant cast, increases fire damage done to target. Stacks to 10 times.
Fire Cleanse: Removes one debuff from you.

Shadow Form:
Shadowbolt: Shadow damage, heals you for damage done if Siphon Life is on the target. However, consumes the Siphon Life.
Siphon Life: Drains life from target, lasts 1 min.
Shadow Nova: AoE damage, applies a drain life debuff.

Ice Form:
Frostbolt: Frost damage, damage tripled if target is frozen.
Frost Nova: Frost novas and jumps back.
Ice Block: 4 second immunity, reflects spells.

Chaos Strike: Does high damage and increases damage done by you. Consumes 2 foci.
Damage done increased by applications of Flame Buffet.
Damage triples if target is frozen.
Weakens (50,000 less damage done) if target is afflicted by drain life.
IT IS A RANGED ATTACK

First Boss: Eyeballs.

Simple fight. Apply Siphon Life, go into fire form and flame buffet/pyroblast him. Switch back into shadow and shadowbolt when siphon life time is low.

Stay out of the yellow electric charges, when he emotes his Dark Glare attack, go into ice and use ice block, this will do 50k damage to the eye and prevents 100k damage from being taken.

After eye dies, you fight the dog.

Dreadmaw

Start the fight off with siphon, and go into fire form.

Whenever he emotes "Dreadmaw lashes out...", cast fire cleanse on yourself.

Try to get to 100% before killing the boss. You shouldn't take damage from him at all.

Final Boss: Shartuul

When the fight starts, he summons eye tentacles all over the area. These tentacles do a mind flay that slows and does abuot 10k damage over time. These mind flays STACK.

Shartuul has a couple abilities:
Magnetic Pull: Pulls you to him, usually just interrupts casting.
Teleport: Used with Magnetic Pull, ports to another spot. Usually behind you.
Shadowbolts: Negligible damage.
Immolate: This hurts, will tick away 1% at a time for your demon.
Silencing Shot graphic debuff: Increases shadow damage taken by a lot.

As usual, start the fight off with a siphon life and go into fire form.
Start stacking up flame buffets. Be sure you cleanse the shadow damage and immolate off immediately.
After you remove a debuff, move back into shadow form and shadowbolt. Wait for the shadowbolt to hit Shartuul then reapply siphon. Shadow nova the tentacles. Return to fire form.

Repeat until you have 10 flame buffets stacked up. At this time(if siphon life has been applied as it should be), switch into frost form, wait for forms cooldown, frost nova, and hit shartuul with a 300k Chaos Strike. Immediately switch to shadow form and do a 50k shadowbolt to heal yourself to full.

Repeat the above strategies and Shartuul should be dead in no time.

Blah's strat works perfectly. Just wanted to add one neat little trick you can use on Dreadmaw if he gets too close to you: if you run out past the electrical things surrounded the event, you will be sucked back into the middle at about 500% speed. Makes for a nice getaway if the big dog gets too close to you.

I don't quite seem to understand the event.

I tried it for the first time today. Took control of the felguard degrader. I got the first demon down to 1% health (Doomguard Punisher) and then I waited for a bit and it didn't give me control of that demon and all it was doing was shooting me with fel flames. Is something supposed to happen or is there something I need to do to gain control of that demon?

As a tip to help get the hang of this, I'd suggest you have a Crystalforged Darkrune and a Darkrune on your character, then transfer your toon over to the PTR. This way you can get practice on the fight without losing your runes. (since the Crystalforged Darkrune and a Darkrune are unique, you can only have one of each on you.) The fight is more about practice than anything, so if you do this you can get practice in on two runs, then you can try the real thing on live servers. Of course this depends on the PTRs being up, but they are usually up at some time or another.

I just witnessed a shaman assisting someone doing this event. The shaman placed a bunch of totems and these things seemed to work during the event by healing his buddy and doing damage to the mobs and bosses.

I thought this was a solo event but I guess it's an individual "plus shaman" event.

Make some shaman friends and this is easy.

If someone completes the event, Shartuul's tentacles stay up for some period of time. Don't start your attempt until they have despawned, they WILL attack you.

Some helpful hints that I learned the hard way.. ;)

Felguard: The charge does damage to nearby mobs as well - and it's more effective than whirlwind as it oneshots most mobs. If you use it at minimum range (as close to the imp as possible, it should be about 8 yards or so), you will most probably kill all the felhounds you have on you as well. All the mobs will despawn when the shield goes down, so if it's at ~10% and you don't have a very long cooldown on the shield bashing hammer, you can just fear them all and wait for it to be ready. The special ability doesn't work, don't use it.

Doomguard: Almost all your abilities requires a little bit of distance, so you need to strafe around a bit, you will run a little faster than the mobs so it shouldn't be a problem for you. The big mob packs will appear in these places, in order: SW corner, NW corner, Eastern side. When the big mob pack spawns, super jump the big guy > punishing blow > AoE breath > punishing blow (the stun will wear out shortly after this) > strafe and axe stun > punishing blow. He should be dead by now and all the small mobs at half HP (but KEEP your eyes open for pink beams, if one of those is up, you have to stun the small mob holding it - it's a damage shield they cast on the big guy). Try to kill most of the small mobs before the boss spawns, else they will go and summon X cannons and you really need to save those stuns for her. Remember to heal yourself by consuming the small mobs (30 second cooldown, use it whenever it's up), you should be at 90-100% HP when the boss comes.

Big eye: You can regen life at the dog boss which comes after, so no need to keep siphon life up at all times - only renew it directly AFTER he has done his major attack ("Eye of Shartuul focus intensely") so that you know that you have ice block ready for that (there is a cooldown on the stances) - and get out of shadow stance and into fire stance as soon as the cooldown is up, don't linger in the stances longer than you have to, sometimes he casts the glare on you with only 30 seconds in between. If you happen to eat one of these glares, you might want to chaos strike + death blast + siphon, if you fear that you'll wipe otherwise. Remember to put out as many flame buffets as you can as they will increase the damage you do by an insane amount - use it whenever it's not on cooldown. This goes for all the following bosses.

Doggy: Every time you see "Blabla lashes out" emote, and he charges you, cleanse yourself and get some distance. Directly after this, renew siphon life if you need to. That way you can be sure he won't charge you in shadow form (it takes a little while before he does it again). If you follow this advice, you can pretty much kite him around forever and regain a lot of health that you lost against the Eye boss.

Shartuul: Just cleanse, and ice block when he incinerates. Use Chaos Strike whenever you feel like it, it'll increase your Siphon Life a lot (preferrably use it while Siphon Life is still up, but not on cool down - it will consume the siphon). If you cleanse his debuffs, he does almost no damage at all (siphon life heals more than he does damage), except incinerate. Easy fight :)

For all bosses, and especially Shartuul: If you catch him in your shadow nova, you'll get some really nice extra healing on yourself.

I seem to have a problem when I want to consume life. In the second phase, if I get low and want a heal I target one of the small adds and click consume life. Nothing happens. I have the reagent in my bags, and I have four of them.

I don't know if I'm missing something or what's going on. :(

I just did the Shartuul even again, on the Shivan Assassin I used her Special twice and used Death Blast with Siphon Life on the guy...both times it dealt the massive damage but gained no life. I wiped on it...so pissed off. :(

Some additional new stuff I found after the 2.2 patch:

1. The doomguard ultimate graphics has changed. Instead of flying about I stood still and just fired the bombs instead. In a sense this did more damage to the shivan assassin, but it also means the fel cannons that were made on the far side won't be destroyed by the ultimate.

2. Dreadmaw's debuff attack now also results in it charging at you and stunning you, making it very much more possible that he will get a swipe at you.

As mentioned earlier, the shivan assassin's death blast doesn't heal anymore (bug?). Coupled with 4 siphon life resists throughout the 3 bosses, that ensured an early death for me at shartuul...sigh

As some of you already noticed, the death blast no longer heals if Shartuul has the siphon life debuff. Not at least today (Sep, 27th)
I believe it's a bug since the tooltip remained as 2.1.

A tip to down Shartuul is to use the Chaos Strike ability after the use of siphon life. That way you it'll get the increased damage taken debuff. After that, use also shadow nova, to kill the eyes around and set another debuff that heals yourself.
Now you'll get a 10k+ healing over time tick on you and you can survive.
Do not forget to switch to fire form and remove the shadow resonance debuff. Otherway the shadowbolt will hit you for 13k+ instead of 3k+.

To sum up:

Start on fire form and dps as normal until u get down to 80% or so. The more flame debuff you can stack the merrier.
If you get down to 80% or needed to ice block the incinerate, switch to shadow.
Cast Siphon Life.
If it didn't resist, cast the chaos strike. Else continue
Cast Shadow Nova
Switch to fire and dps as hell
Repeat each minute (once the siphon life debuff is gone) or 30 seconds (if the siphon life resisted)

1 bug fixed and another bug introduced. The eye stalks now respond correctly. THey will mindflay your demon and despawn at the end of the event.

However death blast is bugged. It consumes the siphon life, but doesn't heal you. It is still very doable, but you will be reliant on shadow nova and siphon life for all your health needs. Plus you will probalby need to chaos strike multiple times through the event to keep the healing back up to where you need it to be.

Managed to kill Shartuul for the first time about 15 minutes ago. Done without the use of Death Blast. It was going great until he spawned more tentacles and once I got into Shadow Form he dropped both debuffs on me. I thought it was curtains but I managed to beat him close enough for me to yell an obscenity when I returned to my body, thinking I lost.

Key points: HOPE HE DOESN'T SPAWN TENTACLES WHILE YOU'RE WAITING FOR HIM TO RECAST DEBUFFS!

As of 2.2.2, Death Blast is now fixed but has been changed to only heal you for ~12% of your life instead of the ~26% before it was bugged. At least Shartuul is much more doable now.
Shartuul also seems much more consistent with casting Incinerate after Immolate. He doesn't always cast it after Immolate but he doesn't seem to be as random with it anymore.
It would seem that, except for the odd Felguard Whirlwind not completing, this event is now bug-free.

Shartuul was bugged for me Yday, had a darkrune and got another one from daily's, anyways he casted Incinerate, followed by 1X Immolate, then incinerate again (incinerate X2 on like 5 sec), i only won cus i changed shadow and spent 2 Charged Crystal Shards.... happened both kills, anyways badge/epic caster ring yay

as i want to state couple of things
i can do Shartuul fight with 3 charged crystal foci
1 for the 2end fase for super bomb
and 1 for chaos strike versus shartuul

and on a side notes;

the key versus the eye is going into ice block fast enough
they key versus the dog is, cleanse the "dreadmaw lashes out" IMMEDIATLY it does loads of damage, and also keep siphon life up as this is the part of the fight before shartuul where you regain hp
against shartuul use your chaos strike usefull, that is, use it when hes frozen, has 10 flame buffets and has siphon life, chaos strike => shadow bolt and you get healed for a lot, and continue fight .

ok, i dont fucking get it - for a hundred time i die at the first demon, im at ~50% and he's at 1% and i keep using Mortal strike on him and he doesn't die.Tried fear charge and then mortal strike - still nothing, its just getting damn annoying after doing the quest each day for the stupid fragments...

Bugged for me today as well, on the shivan assasin part, my doomgaurd didn't go immune to damage, and instead took a beating while the boss walked behind me taking no damage. On the whole this event has many problems and it needs to be tweeked by blizzard.

Managed to do the shartuul event today, its still bugged however so watch out -- for newcomers to this event i recommend reading the strat above then going to youtube.com or some such and watching each stage of the event several times to get it, also carry 10+ charge crystal focus's on you for the shivian assassin stage of the event because that choas strike does TONS of dmg with 10 stack buffet + siphon life

My first clear saw me using about 10 foci. I can now do it without any, but I find that I get through with 3.

Bugs I've found
1: Whirlwind/Fel Flames ending early. This is usally when you target something new or turn on auto attack while the ability is running. More an nuisance
2: Eye of Shartuul not spawning. GM said it was add on releated. Could be a scapegoat and not the true problem. GM's will replace your darkrune, but not and foci used.
3: For the first 3 seconds, the eye, dreadmaw, shartuul, and the tentacles will ignore any spell cast by the assassin. So cast a deathblast (if you start each boss in shadow) then shadow nova before trying to siphon life. Also its best to wait untill the tentacles start mind flay before using shadow nova, or move to a patch of ones already up when new ones spawn.
4: While you normally gain control of the doomguard at 10%, you can't gain control while he is casting fel flame. You fear to stop fel flame, otherwise he will sit at 1% and he will fel flame your demon to death.

This quest is stupid easy and usually requires only one Crystal Focus to complete. The only one you need to use is in the second phase against the Assassin boss.

Took me three attempts to figure out how to beat it. The last phase is so much fun

Just takes a bit of practice to get a feel for the fight.
