These guys won't de-aggro easily -- since they can't move from their spot, running out of their attack range alone won't exit you from combat. You've just gotta keep running.

If you are a rogue and you want to attck these guys from stealth like ambush or cheapshot or stuff, i'm afraid you can't.
The only way to get these guys out of the ground is to stand near the area they're digging through and if you want to have some fun stand OVER the area they're digging through.
This will make them push you right in the air out of there way, like what Omor the Unscarred does but they don't push you that high :P

Their Poison attacks act more like physical rather than magic in that they can "miss" you.

Hunters have a cheap way to handle these things without getting touched (aren't everything we hunters do cheap?). You can't send your pet after the rock-throwing 'spawn point', but you *can* set your pet on 'Defensive', use Eyes Of The Beast to walk your pet over the location they will jump up, and as soon as they jump up, engage them and drop EOTB. Your pet will be nice and engaged, and you will be free and clear to shoot at them from afar.

EDIT TO ADD: These things are also fantastic for leveling a young let up! You don't have to worry about them engaging you and getting out of firing range, since they can't move from their location, so as long as your pet is big enough to take the first hit or two of them bursting, you can EOTB your pet, shoot them down, and the poison damage they do is generally not enough to cause a problem as long as you keep food and drink.

They can be anywhere in HP. So just look for the circle area rocks moving around on the ground. That how you know there there.

These are a rogue's worst nightmare. You can't use an opener on them and they're all bunched really tightly together.

If you see these coming for you and can't get away, move in close before they pop up, because their ranged attack hurts bad. It's a poison spit that does over 700 dmg to my hunter. When you are close to them they won't do the spit attack.

Am i paranoid?
As a rogue, i always feel like these things are following me while stealthed, and everytime i attack a mob, they will all always come for me. It could be Murphy's Law, but it doesn't feel coincidential.

That is what they remind ME of. My boyfriend & I were just contemplating, what class would Paul Muad'dib be in WoW... A hunter with a crust burster for a pet or a rogue with a trinket that summons one? Probalby a rogue with a crust burster mount that's a prize if you buy the next xpac special edition. ^.^ Still... if these were tameable (that would just be so fun), I'd refer to hunters with them as Paul Muad'dib... or St. Alia, Huntress of a Billion Worlds. ;)

If you are ever attacked by one of these as a hunter just put on Aspect of the Wild. It pretty much nerfs their nature damage and then you can pwn it at your leisure! Without Aspect of the Wild these things hit really hard!

If you’re a mage, cast Frost Nova when you see one erupt from the surface. If you manage to time it right, the burster won’t attack you but will stay above the ground. You can then target it and kill it from a distance without losing any hp yourself. It’s not guaranteed to work, but I managed to get it right about half the time, which is much better than trying to duke it out with all of them because that poison they spit hurts.
