You'll find the same model later on, Grovestalker Lynx in Blade's Edge Mountains and Ripfang Lynx in Netherstorm, as well as some new ones inside of Zul'Aman.

However, they all have a darker skin.
This one is indeed the highest level lynx with red skin.

Just tamed one of these babies. And I'm level 70. It's a very nice and unique look, and hardly any of the 70's on my server have the red skin lynx. I'm looking forward to leveling her and showing her off to all the people in shat.

Was totally worth the trip to Eversong Woods as a member of the Alliance (as a lvl 10). I'm 70 now, just as my pet, and I can't visit a capital without people whispering me how they like my pet.

These do look cool, but one thing that irritates me is that they do not growl or make a noise when they charge into combat. They also don't roar when they do the stretch thing cats do. I hope Blizzard fixes this.

Pay a warlock. Seriously. Running all the way from Wetlands thru arathi, thru hillsbrad, thru WPL, EPL, Ghostlands and up to Eversong takes at least an hour... and thats just without dying. One hour will get you at least 10 gold just from questing in Outlands. You can probably spend 15-30 mins farming fire, water or air motes, get enough to make a primal, sell it for 25-30g, then pay a random lock in EPL 10g to summon you to the entrance to ghostlands. Now not only have you saved yourself hours out of your life, but also have about 15-20g left on hand to buy yourself some decent equipment.

.... took me all but 15 mins... and no dying.

OK, you all that posted on how to get to Eversong. You all made this way to hard on your self.... Follow the directions everyone else posted on how to get there. But, dont bring an escort, you dont want or need help getting there. The first time you die is the only time you die... DO NOT REZ! Just run there dead, and once you get to Eversong find the angel chick and rez there. No worries, no hassels, no bothering anyone else to help you get there. Yes it works, done it my self after beening told by someone else they did it. You can even go through the Ghostland portal in ghost form.

The above poster is exactly right, I can confirm this as well.

I went back with a Guildie who was a low level and we used this exact technique. If you die in Eastern Plaguelands just make a beeline for the portal. It's the same as entering an instance, you will be able to rez IN ghostlands at one of the graveyards. Heck you could even ghost run all the way into eversong and rez there.

I am just confirming what a few people above me have said -- it is, indeed, possible to ghost-run across the plaguelands into the portal and resurrect yourself there. I did it just last night and am glad I took a chance on it rather than frustrate myself for hours trying to run there alive.

The only hard part (aside from actually getting to the Bulwark in the first place) is finding a spirit healer to res you safely. My little 13 NE hunter chose to use the one in Fairbreeze Village and was ganked by guards a few times before I could inch out of aggro range.

I'm happy to report, however, that she's now the proud owner of her very own red kitty.

Also, to the high level BE hunter on Earthen Ring who followed my naked little noob butt from Silverpine to the Bulwark, I'm glad I could amuse you :) I wish I could have communicated better what it was I was up to. Thanks for at least trying to save me from the Plaguelands Welcome Bear, but my demise was inevitable and planned :)

Thanks to all that posted above. I made the run this morning and was able to get to, and around, Corin's Crossing before my first death! Ran into a 70 mage who, at first, was a little shocked that he was seeing a naked, level 20 NE in EP. He helped me make the rest of the run up to the GL portal (which, btw, he didn't even now existed) and he was a big help right before the sentinel - got jacked and he AoE'ed the Demon Hounds and Undead. Anyways, I am now the proud owner of a totally unique cat for an Alliance toon. And it only took me about 2 1/2 hrs to grind him up to 20. (he was a 6 when I got him).

BTW - you should have seen the BE's that gathered around me (about 8-9 of them) when I was taming him. They were totally freaking, seeing a NE hunter on their turf. LOL!

I just got one on my BE. Was going to get a crazed dragon hawk but every one has those in my realm. Only saw one character with one. she is very cute(am very glad that I dont have to go very far to get one)

Hmm. I just got one couple days ago and it's level 13 now. Still level 1 loyalty and rebellious. I haven't found food for this thing yet. I don't know what kind of meat to use. I tried using meat that I can consume but it won't take anything. What kind of meat/fish should I be using and where can I get them?

Im glad to say I got my Springpaw for my Alliance Dwarf yesterday.
Initially Id planned to swim east from the Hinterlands, circumnavigate the entire coastline and end up at the Blood Elf starting area, sadly when you go to the Ghostlands area all you see is sea, on the Map your in the middle of the Ghostlands but in game your in the middle of the great sea. Finally someone in my Guild told me I need to go via the roads but despite being level 44 I got killed many times walking through the Ruins of Anderhol, eventually someone said try swimming round it which worked!
Luckily a level 70 from my Guild decided to escort me there where I managed to tame a Level 6-7 one.
At the moment im grinding levels for my pet against level 43 Wolves in the Hinterlands, hes up to level 24 now.
I think this is a worthwhile cat to get as Hunters tend to chase rare cats only to find every other hunter already has a King Bangladesh or similar, few Alliance Hunters have the patience to get this cat! You do tend to see other Hunters having a look at it and asking questions where you got it.

I've gone through the plaguelands as a ghost and it seems that Blizz have corrected the bug that you will be ressurected at the gate.

Keep in mind that you have to go there on an other way.

As I see there is no deatiled description how to get there so please find this as a guide or a travel log without the "ghost run" through the Plaguelands what is no longer available.

First of all you have to go from Wetlands to Arathi highlands (the way what goes to the north).

I am 22 so I left my "older" pet at the stable master in Menethil Harbor and tamed a young wetlands croc "for temporary usage" and I suggest you to get a pet for the journey what you will abandon once you reached your destination.

In Arathi you can find Refuge Point as the flight point, it appears on the minimap as well, if you wish you may pick it up. Otherwise stay on the road and check your minimap freqauently (with the beast tracking enabled ofc) since there are some mobs near the road what you may pull with you. if it happens then send your pet to attack it and run.

You will reach a great wall and then you enter to Hillsbrad Foothills. Here you have to keep on the road until you reach a river. Once you reached that then you have to follow it to the north until it finishes. There are only turtles in the water but they will not attack you and the mobs on the banks neaither (until you stay in the water).

The river finishes at the Darrowmere Lake what is already a part of Western Plaguelands. You have to swim to the northest point of the lake where an other river (Thondroril) reaches it. Swim north in the River until you reach a bridge. At the bridge come out from the water and follow the road to the East. This is the point to unequip all your armor weapon and gun/bow.

If you haven't lost your way until now then you are in Eastern Plaguelands and here comes the worst part. If you were smart and lucky you haven't died yet but here you will... There are high level (about 60) beasts and demons. Keep looking for them and wait until they go away from the road (I died here twice). You will reach a ghost town (Corin's Crossing) full of undeads ghosts and similar mobs. I simply gone through the town. It took 4 or 5 dies for me. Just keep on the road after the town. It willturn to the north and you will go near a tower (shown on your minimap with a narrov as the towns used to be.) After you left this tower you will reach a crossing where you have to turn to the rigth (there will be a sign as well what shows the direction to Quel Thalas).

If you follow the way then you will reach the Portal to Ghostlands.

After you are in ghostlands you have to follow the way to the north and you are finally in Eversong woods where these beatuyful and uniqe cats can be found.

what i did with my lvl 10 Night elf hunter was.... run thru wetlands and die once. then i ran to Eversong woods and found a grave yard. i logged out, logged back in then rezzed. Hope this helps.

Drown yourself in Wetlands and run up through to the Plaguelands to the portal that leads into Ghostlands. Then ressurect in the graveyard beside Tranquillen.

if i was you, i would just grind on mobs green to you. you will get less xp but also a lower chance of you loosing alot of health. it worked for me when i was lvl 27 and had only just tamed Echeyakee {^-^}

I just got this pet last night on my level 10 Dwarf Hunter.

I was a little apprehensive about the ghost run, so I decided I would try the run alive.

To my suprise, I made it to EPL, only dying once in the Highlands. (And actually dinged level 11 due to discovery XP).

Anyhow, in EPL the story changed. I died A LOT. After 6 deaths I finally made it to the undead town there (dying again). And figured, I might as well try the ghost walk.

Ran through the portal into ghostlands as a ghost, and irony and all I made my way to Eversong. (Made a note that the spirit healer and corpse arrows dissapeared from my minimap, as someone mentioned). I res'd at the spirit healer right outside of Fairbreeze. I was still in Eversong.

I repeat...

THE GHOSTWALK WORKS

I guess this has to do with the BE areas being a part of the BC lands.

Anyhow. It took in all about an hour for me. I guess this would be reduced if the whole run was done as a ghost.

My level 11 is now strutting around IF with a new red kitty.

Tried this PM and it does indeed work. Lvl 15 Dwarf hunter (Landwehr). Ripped up by a pair of 22 crocs outside Menethil. Ghost-walked to Ghostlands. Rezzed there and hunted down the cat over the river.

Got a lvl 7 and will spend a while training him. He certainly looks great. Never seen an Alliance hunter with one on Bronzebeard Europe!

Just got mine today using the spirit walk method but had some diffuculty taming cause there was a lot of horde in the starting areas and i got jumped:( but after i got my new cat i hunted 2 of them down and got them :)

yea the ghost walk does work. you can read about my tips on the dragonhawk page. anyway i rezzed at the place right next to Tranquillien or however you spell it. BUT i was in the lvl 30 range cuz i was helping a friend. the guards still chased my from like 50 yards out though.

I'm a 70 hunter on Stormscale... been playing more than 3 years, and I have NEVER seen a 55+ Aliance Charicter with this pet... and I've only seen one or two horde with it (above 55) so, if you don't mind a hard grind, this pet is really worth it, its looks are incredible, its atk power is great (duh, its a cat) and its very rare to see on a high level hunter!

Die, run in ghost form, through portal in Plaguelands and rez in the GY in Ghostlands. You wont be teleported back to Wetlands...at least not until it gets fixed.
I got him on my blood elf, first pet. Still have him at 70 and he's never let me down.

I tamed one of these at level 40 on my NE, I am a 51 Mango is still a 33, any ideas of where I can grind her up? I would really like to use her, but at the moment she is mob attraction on quests, so I tamed Death Howl at 50 to help me out, but I kept Mango in the stable, I am not ready to give up on leveling her, but the Arathi highlands don't appear to be working anymore.

Got one easy as a lvl 16 draenei. Gift of the Naaru works some wonders! :) The only thing I don't get is in the BC book it says that these are untamable. Is it a book flaw or a severely back glitch? lol.

I'm on this quest at the moment as a lvl 11 NE. I've got to the portal to ghostlands and can't get any further.

For other people who can't seem to do this... and I've noticed someone else mention it above... it seems you need the burning crusade expansion pack to do it. Or so it tells me lol.

wow i love this pet i tamed it on my blood elve hunter wen i was lvl 10.now im 70 aND EVERYTIME i do instances or go into grps with ppl they ether comment me on it or if there a hunter there like quote "OMG ive always wanted that pet but never knew bout it till like lvl 30". lol if u ask me so i would give a 100% yes to taming this pet trus me been with this pet for 60 lvls =D. o and it got 10 times bigger which jus increses its size and beuty of the beast. i hope ppl that read this take this advice in consideration =]. o and i named him tony (jus sayin)

Please help me!

I'm a level 15 Night Elf Hunter, and I tried to go through the whole "Ghost" traveling thing, but when I got to the portal, it said " You must be level 45 to enter" Did I do it right? How are you supposed to go through it?

You have to make sure that you are at the portal to the ghost lands and not the portal to the instance. There is an instance there that you have to be lvl 45 or higher to get into. I know this because i did the same thing last night when i got my kitty.Very bad corpse run.The gate to ghost lands is just past the north point tower (i think thats what it's called). There is a lvl 60 Blood elf there, but he doesn't attack.

Made the run to get one of the awesome and unique looking cats 2 days ago. NE hunter, level 11, got a port from Darn to SW, took the tram to IF and started to run. Stopped at Karathos (?) and stabled my current pet and tamed a disposable one for the run and headed to Menethi (only to get the FP, you can skip that part if not interested) then in to Arathi. I stopped at RP to get that FP and on to South Shore. Died once but ghosted back to my corpse to get the FP to South Shore (I did that knowing I want to run SFK at some point and save the running later). From that point, I headed north and let my pet take the hits from whatever I aggroed and kept running and would recall him until I hit the lake. At that point, I died and continued the run in ghost form (note: NE wisp made this quicker than others will find it). Went north in to EPL as ghost and found the portal and went through and went to the graveyard. At this point I LOGGED OUT AND LOGGED BACK IN (based on previous post ideas here) and it worked like a charm.
Followed the road north out of the graveyard with humanoids up on the map so I could avoid the NPC's because I did not want to flip over to PVP (seemed like a lot of 30+'s running around that day). Found a dragonhawk first so tamed it for the heck of it and the flame is cool but it's weak lol.
Came across three cats, 2 6's and one 7, so killed the 6's and set about to tame the 7. This cat not only looks awesome, but even at 7 *seemed* to hit harder than the moonsabers I had tamed on a previous hunter (I know, a cat's a cat, no need for the responses...just how it seemed to me).

I had a lot of luck leveling her in Eversong by grinding out some mobs around there that were 7-10. Went in a circle around the mountain where I found her. I had played a BE before and new the area wasn't part of any quests, so I was left alone. The couple of BE's I did see just stopped and...stared at me lol.

My recommendations to those Alli who want this awesome and very unique looking cat:
1. The ghost run still works as of 3/21/2008, but keep in mind that I LOGGED OUT and logged back in before rezing at the spirit healer in Ghostlands.
2. Bring plenty of food (I had 20 pieces of meat I had saved from about level 7)
3. I asked for directions on Chan. 1 in both EPL and WPL and got answers both times, that may help, even for Alli.
4. On a non-PVP server you can level fairly quickly in the area you tame it. It took me roughly 40 mins to gain 2 loyalty and hearthed out at lvl 12 w/a lvl 10 cat that way (she has sinced caught up to me as we are both 16's).
5. You will be asked daily where you got your cat lol. At least once a day, I am asked "dude...where did you get that cat?". I reply, "eversong woods" and get the reply "is that near here?" (in Westfall) lol...it's kinda cool.

THANKS TO ALL THE PREVIOUS POSTS HERE...helped me a lot get this awesome and unique (for a NE Hunter) cat. I love using cats and owls (personal preference...we all have em =P). Can't wait to hit 20-21 and get the ghostsaber next!

My reggie, tamed when I was level 30 is getting to 69, as I am on my way to 70. So far, I'm the only draenei hunter with this cat. In fact, I have never seen anyone else with this cat before on the SWC realm. It is a beauty, and I stick with it till the very end. (Image is from level 50 something)

When I saw this cat on Petopia, I decided that this one was worth travelling for. Dozens of Hunters on Trollbane (US) have Ghost Sabers, but I've not seen a single one with a Springpaw.

Not to mention, my Hunter being a Draenei means that this particular cat is extremely difficult to get. :)

Okay, i tamed this cat on my level 10 Draenei hunter this morning, solo, and here i'll share my experience, and how i did it.

First off, i headed over to night elf start zone, then walked though ashenvale, then over half way and down to barrens. A note here: when you are walking down the path to the barrens, headed south on the path, you will meet ? horde guards inbetween. If you go off to the left of the path a bit, you can see a break in the wooden fence and a smouldering meat-grinder thing, and skip the guards. Once i got back on the path again heading south into the barrens, i found a random ? mob, aggro'd it and died, instantly transported to the Spirit Healer by cross roads, took spirit res, and went on down the path.

Down into dustwallow marsh, i went a short distance into the zone, didn't have to aggro a mob this time, the aggro radius was so great that i got 3 on me and died, spirit healer in this zone will put you right at the front of the harbor, take spirit res, go into town. Down the docks, then catch the boat to menethril harbor in wetlands.

Once in wetlands, follow the path out to the middle, then north, and through arathi. Unfortunately there is only one spirit healer in arathi, so dieing and going to the spirit res in this zone will not be of any benefit, i just walked down the path all the way to tarren mill land, died a few times.

Once here, continue the path west-ward until you come to a river/stream. Follow this stream north, alternating either side of the spring to avoid mobs, once you get to the northern part of the zone there will be no more mobs at all until EPL. Just follow the right bank of the river when you get to the big lake, around scholomance, and then up to the edge of eastern plaugelands.

Die here from aggro, then walk across the entire zone as ghost, up through the ghost portal, take spirit res in ghostlands. then it's a short trip north into blood elf start land, and you got your rare alliance hunter pet. took me 2 hours total.

I love my BEAUTIFUL red kitty, i named it SunSet. So very happy. My hunter's just an alt, but i may spend more time on her than my main (70 druid) now that i got this pretty cat.
