WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-Up: Classic WoW Launch, Economic Impact plus TradeSkillMaster

I have a few theories:

Players in BFA will decrease their play time because they will be spending most of their time on classic. With less competition while farming and in the AH would mean a price increase on the mats I mentioned.
People who stopped playing BFA renew their subscription for Classic and end up playing BFA casually because why not you have an active sub. This would increase the amount of active players in BFA making more competition and seeing a drop in prices due to more competition. Unless we see less experienced players joining in which case endgame mats would not change much or even increase in price as new players level their professions.

What are your thoughts. I have lots of materials, mostly herbs/enchanting mats/ore to sell and I am debating wether I should sell it right now and during the first week of Classic or should I sell my mats on the AH 3 weeks after Classic's release?/u/RHAGU points towards economic lesson 101, supply and demandIMO, you are just focusing on the supply. IMO, the lack of demand will be a significant contributor to the price decline. If significantly fewer people start raiding, then significantly fewer people need food, enchants, gems. I think most of the cloth/leather is being shuffled into enchanting mats since the role filled by crafted gear in previous expansions is being done by benthic.

So if the next few weeks, the new gear per week is a tiny fraction of what it has been, then the prices will drop. IMO, quite a bit./u/wunderbier456 comments further
my assumptions:

majority of classic player base wouldn't be playing retail anyways
majority of classic player base wont spend much time in retail
every single retail player will log in to classic for at least 1h just out of curiosity
there will not be two-games players, this means that eventually a person will either play retail or classic, never both (runescape 3 vs. oldschool logic)
some classic players will be willing to farm in retail with the sole point of buying tokens
all of retail player base that remains in retail will keep their activities as they are
as time passes, classic players will not be able to keep up with new methods of gold-making, specially the complex ones and/or the ones that require a big setup/reputation/investment... so they will be jumping into the quickest money printer they see and that's usually current patch material (either via gathering or group farms)

you will not see classic players log in retail and doing flips to pay for their subscription; you will not see classic players log in retail and camping the AH for cheap mats and constant undercuts; they will not do shuffles; etc.

so, imo, in retail, specifically on easy gathering, on avg, will be a raise in the supply WITHOUT a raise in demand

how big this imbalance will be, IDK, but we all know that supply/demand is a unstopabble rule in economy, so if its either gonna be a 10% drop in prices or 50% is hard to say, but a drop will happen (assuming my assumptions are correct, of course)HazelNuttyGamesWhat has been your experience like on modern WoW servers since the launch of Classic WoW? As of version 4.8 of TSM, the addon will load in-game for Classic just as it does for Retail. You may need to select the option to ‘load out of date addons’ initially.

When using TSM4 in Classic WoW it’s important to be aware of some of the limitations, including pricing data.

Blizzard have not yet provided any Auction House data APIs for Classic, this is expected at launch however it is still unknown whether they ever will be introduced. This means TSM will not be able to provide any pricing data for your realm or region via the Desktop App for Classic. This also means you do not require the AppHelper addon when using TSM4 in Classic.

With this in mind, we have made sure that support for both Auctioneer and Auctionator pricing is implemented, so if you were to scan the Auction House in-game with either of those addons, you can use that pricing information in your TSM operations.

(1) Support for WoW Classic, with two important caveats: (1) Faction specific AHs have not yet been implemented, for now all scanning is treated as one big AH. So you may want to only scan a single faction AH for the time being, or at least be aware that you will cause some stats problems if you scan both/all three faction AHs in close time proximity.
(2) You will need to load out of date addons in the Classic client. For now there is no way to specify an interface TOC that works in both retail and classic, so we will need to make some modifications to our build system in order to support the classic TOCs. We figured you'd rather get working addons sooner rather than wait for us to fix that. No ETA yet on when this will get done.

You'll find :

More or less all bags (including things that I'm not sure can actually be seen on the AH)
All BoE weapons and armor organized by rarity
Almost all relevant mats organized by type (including a list of random crap)
All class books
All BoE recipes plus a list of vendor recipes (overlaps with the other lists)
All crafted consumables organized by type (still missing world drops like Rumsey Rum)

Have you logged in to BFA at all or are you spending more time/made the switch to Classic?Comment by wowdm6I wont be playing wow classic, i did when it came out 15 years ago but i do remember all the things that make me not want to, so all the quality of life changes, like bigger bags, raid finder, dungeon finder, not having ammo as hunter and not having to keep my pet happy.
I like some of the modern/current content, pet battles, transmog, flying (most of the time), lfr when i dont have time for full raiding.
I agree that we will see less players for some time as people move to classic, i just wonder how long they will be there before coming back.
Considering that we have seen in 1 week players level to 60 and take down Molten core and onyxia it may be sooner than i would have expected originally.
