I will definitely try it, when it comes out. I always wanted to go to classic Naxxramas, but we never made it before BC came out.
I certainly don't think Classic needs the later on account-wide things like those. What i think would be a good idea is making items gained IN Classic be retroactive to the non-classic game. No more 500 000 gold Defias Armor in AH, you could grab it in Classic and BAM , have it in full, BUT you SHOULDN'T have access to say Molten Core BoE tier items in Classic from Non-Classic characters, and stuff like that. And the elephant in the room : Black Qiraji Battle Tank....making that time gated (10 hours after the FIRST guy bangs the gong...really? TEN HOURS?) was a terrible idea, i HOPE they rectify it.
Doesn't matter for me if collectables are account wide or not from the legacy server. All I hope is that they can deliver with some QOL changes.
I'll play a bit, but doubt I can take another classic levelling grind
This is gonna be a catastrophy
i cant wait to enjoy this
won't hype it until it's done
Finally setting foot into Naxx again! ♥
never seen the point in why people want the 'classic experience' at all... so many amazing things have been put into the game since then, and so many massive QoL things too. not to mention... where's the progression? you get to 60, and do AQ and MC and BWL and then... oh... game over? :\ just seems weird to want that in my eyes. so yeah... I wont be joining this, unless it is somehow linked to our main account's and gives access to some now unobtainable stuff (that my main account can then use too)
Deep in my heart, I hope that those that left due to the drastic changes over the years do come back for this. Vanilla WoW was not JUST amazing for the game itself, but the people it inhabited as well.
The question remains as to if the Blizz team in general understands what worked and what didn't work about vanilla. For me personally the number 1 factor was the server identity. What I mean is that as you played you got to know who people were. You'd be able to PVP and see the same teammates, the same enemies and fights would have meaning. You'd be able to walk around IF and see the raiders, the guy selling items, the enchanters offering their services etc.Much of that got lost when server groups / clusters got introduced. It helped to solve issues with queue times but eliminated a huge aspect of community feel of the server.Reintroducing Vanilla, particularly to a very different audience isn't going to be an easy thing if there is a genuine hope of long-term success.Should the game be identical to the original? Should the changes be significant or minor, should some of the quality of life changes that have been brought in be introduced? Why we loved vanilla:- Server community- Huge raids / groups (fighting to down a boss with 39 other people feels epic- Epics were rare and getting them felt like something meaningful- Recognition - If you had a PVP title, if you had all t2-t3, if you had rare mounts etc, it felt cool, because you knew that not everyone did. On the other end you could see these characters and want to get that gear.- Classes were unique - and race choice could prove to be very important. What we put up with:- Finding groups was a chore.- Getting to dungeons was hell.- Crushing blows and the insanity of dungeons which scaled by 8-10 levels from start to end. (Making tanking / healing much more difficult towards the end, breaking groups that took hours to put together)- Trash that re-spawned too fast. (breaking groups that took hours to put together)- Attunement was tough - because most of the time nobody was running the dungeon required.- PVP queues were terrible on unbalanced servers.- Getting high ranks in PVP was gated by the number of hours that could be devoted.- Once high rank was achieved in PVP there was no real incentive to continue to PVP- Reputation grinds. There were so many that the Diplomacy buff for humans was an incredibly good racial.- Death runs (something that should be fixed even if the rest are left alone)- Loot systems / mob tagging. (say what you will, but reputation grinds/drop grinds were made much much longer than they needed to be simply due to competition).- Class balance / spec viability. - There were undoubtedly issues with balance and how classes worked in vanilla. Not just at high level, there were fundamental issues with low level characters as well. Healing through instances as a paladin was rough, if not impossible in some cases, simply due to the absence of mana regen on gear or talents equivalent to those of druids/priests. Spells were locked out for many levels and the act of down-ranking spells to maximise efficiency was counter intuitive and not something that many people outside of raiding understood. - Healer/Tank/Specific class availability. - Healers were incredibly tedious to level, or to complete the required reputation/farming grinds. At least on the server I played on,Warlocks were an endangered species. The question is, what would be better: Pure Vanilla, no changes, warts and all. Or a more polished version, with some allowances made - but always sticking to the core of what vanilla was.Helping out the server population by allowing dual specs for example could greatly help out healers, (those re-spec costs were hell) but would also eliminate some of the other aspects that often took place like half dps - half tank warriors. One thing that blizz really needs to think about is the fact that there are a lot of people out there who left WoW due to the changes. Those people who would come back a good Vanilla WoW experience. Those people can't currently even comment on their forums, or have a way to give formalised feedback, due to the whole subscription required mechanic.
Classic servers were never really something that appealed to me, but it is nice that Blizzard is responding to playerbase's interests/wants.
It will be interesting to see how they deliver the Vanilla taste right?
They won't make classic stuff account-wide. That would be really really REALLY dumb. Just imagine all the drama about it.They will probably separate it from main accounts, forcing you to create a new "classic" account if you want to play on legacy. Maybe it will be free to play like how it is now at level 1-20.
Excited for this. And I would be down for collections to be account-wide if its in the 8.0 engine. Pet battles should not be a thing but you could still summon your pets without effecting gameplay. Plus that way we could finally earn all the vanilla race mounts that got removed when they added the level 40 fast mounts. And transmogs like Corrupted Ashbringer and classic PvP and dungeon sets. And maybe even Atiesh as a transmog. ;)Perhaps they could even do the opening of the Gates of Ahn'qiraj again so some people could do the event to get the Black Qiraji Battle Tank mount.
beeing a draenor baby this will be intresting
i dont think this will be a good idea, there will be lots of problems and it will never be the same anyway
While this really doesn't interest me at all personally, I am betting it might help keep the game in production longer overall.I would suggest that nothing should carry over or be tied from normal servers to classic.
I wanted know when will be launched the classic servers.
having played WoW since TBC, I´d love to know what it meant to play the original version that started all
