being horde actually ruined tbc for me and im not going to spend a ton of time leveling again on alliancealso in hindsight arena teams completely suckall i do now is raid log kara and log off for the week
This is a horribly biased article, obviously written by a Horde player. We're supposed to feel sorry for the players that rolled horde because of the perceived advantages, and now have to suffer thru long BG que's because of all the OTHER players that rolled horde for the perceived advantage? Pssshhh... please.Look, everyone KNEW that TBC would be Horde heavy, it's been talked about for MONTHS (years really). It's WHY Blizz gave Alliance Seal of Blood, to try and help alleviate the problem. I was Horde for 16 years, and chose to roll Alliance for TBC classic so I wouldn't have to deal with being part of the overpopulated faction, and all of the problems that come with it. These players do not deserve to be catered to, this is a player-created problem. Not to mention, there is already a fix, if they don't want to deal with long que's, they can roll Alliance, problem solved. As far as the "anti-no changes" argument presented in the article, I believe most players are still "as few changes as possible please". I don't know of any players that are just "heck with it, change everything", and I haven't seen any evidence on the forums or streams, etc., that such players exist.
To be honest, this made me quit as soon as I hit 70. I've been playing classic for a month or two with a goal of only playing PvP, got to 60 waited for the prepatch and then finally 70. First thing I did is was going to the Battlemasters and oh boy was I disappointed. I didn't know that it would be this bad, I estimated like 20 min que which would be fine with me but 1 hour que while being able to play only 3 hours a day is way too much and there is no alternative for me now. Reroll? Not an option for someone who has been leveling for two months straight. If faction change to alliance was available I would do it but classic Andys keep disagreeing while population is slowly dying just because of this issue.
For those that are suggesting Merc Mode - It seems like the only reason it's being suggested is because its easy to suggest a solution that did/does exist that solves the horde pop's problems. The major issue, based on past evidence and what a lot of people have already written, is that it will create a swath of new problems that those suggesting Merc mode either don't understand or, don't care about because they aren't impacted by them. If they implement Merc Mode, they may as well allow war mode and get rid of the pvp/pve server types regardless of the server type because, why not, right? This other group is also having a bad time so, its only fair. Ally shouldn't have to re-roll or server transfer because horde keep griefing them on an imbalanced server, right?... /sThis is a problem that is created by players and driven by Blizzard's either lack of will or interest in implementing a viable solution. Add this on top of the fact that we are playing a game that came out 13 years ago and people have access to way more information concerning racials, pvp, pve, etc, You cant have a bg without players to fill it, there are more horde than there are alliance AND horde queue more often than alliance, so it should have been pretty clear to most that horde queue times would take longer. As far as the PvP aspect of the game goes, Horde can queue in arena's and seek out open world pvp if pvp is what they want to do. To me this issue stems from the fact that the Horde that have been vocal want access to gear with less time/effort required. If it wasn't about gear, Hell, let them queue up into HvH bgs that give no honor if they want to just play in battlegrounds - but i am doubting that many would be pleased with this option. Blizzard doesn't seem to want to be involved with limiting what servers you can roll on based on the faction you choose so we end up seeing some negatives. H->A faction transfers would allow for people to take advantage of the part of the game that they actually want to take part in (easier pvp gear) at the cost of someone being able to play the faction/race they want to play. If there is a perfect solution, it doesnt seem to exist yet, but as of now the existing options are going to put existing players in a bad spot.
Reroll Alliance? I never played alliance in my life, and I pretend not to, and because of this situation I need to reroll to enjoy the game properly? There must be another solution, think better than just "reroll".
Could this author be any more biased? "Merc Mode" is not the solution. The faction imbalance isn't just an issue for Horde queue times, it's an issue for Alliance trying to play the game in the open world. The only real solution here is free faction changes from Horde to Alliance only. Anything else would just create more problems.
Here's the solution. They shouldn't allow you to queue as mercenary because it would allow you to chat with the opposite faction in your battlegroup and that just doesn't belong in Classic. They shouldn't increase honor gains either, you should have to complete equally many matches for your gear. The best solution is to allow Horde to fight itself. So no mercenary system but a new queue button where it includes horde vs horde matchups instead of only horde vs ally. It should still favor horde vs ally matchups when available. It has to be a new separate queue button so you can still use the old button if you only want to fight the opposite faction despite the long queue.
I feel like all the negative comments about the author and merc modes comes from alliance players that are continiously getting ganked in open world. Merc mode would make it possible for 60% of the TBC-classic playerbase to actually play PvP. Smacking lvl 65 Gnomes in open world is really not fun for horde either - more like a necessity to actually be able to get a few pieces of gear. Sad but true. While changes are are hopefully being implemented - they should also make it impossible for premades to queue vs pugs. It is destroying the game.
Yeah, you made the choice to be horde. It was like this in vanilla classic, it's just as bad in TBC. Faction balance was a thing in TBC and it's part of the game. Try being alliance on a horde dominated PvP server. Queue times are the least of the issues from faction imbalance.
Before advocating mercenary mode, remember you don't get the BG faction rep when you do it. If you care about it.
This is only an issue on PvP realms where the Horde have griefed the Alliance into leaving. It's absolutely a "player made" issue.Meanwhile, on PvE servers the ratio is 75A/25H - 90A/10H and not much is said.
I really wanted to play and do both pvp and pve but since right now I only can do bg's I just unsubbed. Unless they make it cross realm between all the realms(only the bg's or maybe even arena) there is no point for waiting more then one hour for a single bg. One piece of gear takes a week to farm. Yes it was slow back then too but not like this when you basically can farm up to 3-4 items from honor in one season lol (in case you sit and watch the que 24 hours a day). Complete joke.
It's simple reroll alliance. A lot of us roll ally just for the faster queue. Obviously I would rather be an unstunnable orc war, or a warlocks UD rogue nightmare, but hey them's the breaks kid.
If horde players don't want long queue times, why are they turtling AV? games go from 10 min to 30+ min with little if any actual increase in honor per hour for them and a huge decrease for alliance. Horde in the AV is 40 players the whole time. Alliance quit the BG and take deserter debuff, probably rotating thru 50-60 players, AND making them less likely to requeue into AV because getting barely any honor at all. Horde is actively making games take 3-4 times longer and making their own queues take twice maybe even 3x as long. Merc mode will absolutely not handle anything. The only thing it might do is make horde realize how horrible it is to play as alliance against a horde turtle. Retail tried merc mode already, remember.
Pay for transfering all of my characters and I'll go happily or start a fresh tbc without character transfer. lol
