Thanks all for sharing your stories, i love to read them :-)Personally i have met some great ppl in Azeroth and most of them i met irl too, even with distances like Europe- North America!Best story ever for me is ofcourse meeting a lovely female night elf. After some "playing hard to get" she fell in love with my paladin and we are now very happily married for 2,5 years!I hope you all will continue to meet awesome ppl in Azeroth and that you can cherish the great relationships you already have!
This is great! But... I am just afraid of being kidnapped by an old man, I thought was my best friend..
I have met a few guild mates in person and we get together every time we can. I am always open to meet more of the people I have met through WoW, but I am not sure I want or need a TV show to do that. There are many that I speak to on a regular basis via Skype, Mumble, etc. I have several people I have met online that I call friends and WoW is just an extension of that.
One of the nicest people I ever met was through my guild. He had several toons, Leafoot being his main for most of the time, but he went by the name Poppy. He was an older player who took everyone under his wing as if we were part of his family. He was the one who would get a group together to help you with the quest you couldn't get done. If you called out in guild chat he would drop what he was doing just to come help. He loved a good joke and told us that he was once swallowed by a whale and had to get other people to kill the animal to get him out. He swore that this really happened.... I made a toon named Guipetto just to send him a note asking if he saw my son Pinnocchio while he was in that whale. We would log into teamspeak just to hear what he was up to that day.He was loved by all of us and it left a large hole in the game when he passed away a few years ago. I remember getting the text from his grandaughter and from several other guildies when he died. I had been talking to him 2 days before about my trip to the ocean and I still have his last text to me on my phone. We sent flowers to his wife to let her know how much he meant to us. I would love to have met him and his wife in real life although it felt like we already had.We still miss you, Poppy.
Love the concept, already have plans to go to the wedding of a guildie in a few months.
When I first started playing WoW I knew just about nothing. Imagine a warlock running around and killing everything with just her wand. Yes, you read that correctly. I knew nothing about spells or even my pet. Then I met a boy IRL that showed me how to decently play my character and I was able to ding 70 fairly quickly. This boy just so happened to be an amazing tank/healz/dps and was in high demand on our server with guilds. So we joined this little guild and I thought nothing of it. Turned out to be a wonderful thing to happen to me. My guildies are the best people to play with. We laugh, we learn, we have fun. My best memory of all of us was one night, after a raid, we sat in vent and got to know one another. I learned some interesting facts about people and some secrets were passed among us. We became a family. When one of needs someone else we are ready, willing, and able to help out. When I got married, my GM sent my husband and I a gift off of our registry. I couldn't imagine ever finding friends/family in a video game but it happens and it's real. I've been with my guild for six years now.
iv met tons of ppl online on wow throu the years, but a few of my guildmates how become prity good friends of mine. also they prob comented here, it would be prity awsome if we all got the prize :)
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
I met this Finnish girl once, while I was having a rather big time down due to a bad relationship, and she ended up helping me get my stuff together and move on. I still talk with her this day, sadly not as much as I would've, but it has been nice getting to know some really awesome people through WoW :)
i have always been a shy person, so one day i joined a guild. in the start i did not speak/talk at all, but as i did more raiding with the guild i started talking more. that was a start of a great friendship, and a big help for me outside the computer, i learned to not be so shy always.
Never met anyone from game in the real world...it would be interesting to meet some of them face to face though.
I've met a guy maybe about 2 years ago through WoW. It started when I was totally new to PvP, and the day came when I was going to try arenas (2v2). I found this Holy Paladin and we played a lot. He was the first person I really spoke to often in the game. We have played a lot since and I've had some great experiences with him. We still talk today. Not doing arenas because we're on different factions.
A while ago I me a person through a mutual friend. Grouped a few times and had some fun. Sometime after that we stopped talking. I split up with my wife and things seemed down, until I was "forced" to meet her in real life by the mutual friend. It has been 2 years we have been dating now and still play the game together.
I have a super awesome guild in terms of friends on my main's server but we never really socialized outside of the game and vent, since, i live half a world away from the US residents which are pretty much all of them in the guild :PRecentl I made a new friend who also plays WoW via tumblr, and we've been getting along well I think, though I'm not subscribed at the moment due to needing to conserve some money.
In my 5 y exp I've met soooooo many people all over Italy (the country where I live) from Milan to sicily and they were all very kind. We started a good friendship that sometimes extended even IRL.
I met my old guild in warcraft and they all turned out to be friends I could keep
I play with one person on WoW all the time that I met on the game through another mutual friend. Ironic because it was only like six months ago we were joking about trying to go through Catfish so we could hang out.
I met my girlfriend on WotLK when i was camping the extremely rare time-lost proto drake. She was camping it too and she got it before me.But,as a girlfriend she helped me find it too and we were both happy!
interesting
This one girl from the guild and I would also try to duo content when that was actually a challenge in the game. We decided to meet offline and it was just bad news. She was a total catfish and it was just bad news after that. I had to unfriend her in game and put her on the ignore list.
