The league universe isn't that fleshed out, especially when it comes to the standard of an RPG. Would be interesting if they might be just going for an MMO without an RPG? If thats the case then honestly Blizzard have nothing to worry about. I would say the overwhelming majority of WoW players got into WoW because of the RPG draw and stayed for the enjoyable and addictive MMO aspects. But if anyone in the world is capable of creating a successful MMO of any kind its going to be Ghostcrawler.
He isn't employed at blizzard for a long time so i fail to see where this is any blizzard related news? For LoL Lore hm yes its not that bad but its not some that i would enjoy and i dont see another mmo fit in i mean we have wow ffo eso and then pretty much only small ones i would love to see a real new genre and dont come up with BR what is basically just a massive last man standingi think its time for another revolution in terms of gaming genresbut who has to guts to try something really new or unconventional? Big Compandy's i dont think so they only play it safe in order to make the most money
I couldn't care less about him while he was in blizz, let alone now.
Ahh can't wait for another "WoW killer" that is going to be abandoned 2 months after its release.
Interesting. Always felt the amount of work they put into the worldbuilding and backstory was wasted on a MOBA.
Awesome
its almost as if he came back to wow just so that when the time was right he could talk about the new game he is making. /golfclap
The dialogue surrounding this announcement is perhaps one of the worst threads I've ever read on this website. From people not understanding the lore development Riot has been working on, to the way Riot operates or monetizes titles, conspiracies about TenCent (which is part owner in blizzard), lack of understanding of competing titles to WoW, completely throwing yourselves on the sword for Blizzard (a company that has repeatedly screwed over consumers) etc.Someone even asked if Riot is still relevant? How disconnected from the world of gaming are you?Just because Shadowlands is pretty good, doesn't mean the market isn't primed for another major MMO title. Riot has the money to take the risk on this, and we won't see anything about this game for around 2-3 years given they are just now hiring for new developers.Riot is uniquely positioned to tackle this market. They have the reputation, they have the resources, and they have a large base of lore for whatever world they aim to create.I love WoW too but god we've literally gotten confirmation of this MMO and NOTHING ELSE. And I'm not coming to the defense of Riot. I don't like any of these large corporations. But seriously I'm just baffled by the ignorance in this thread.
So this is why he came back to WoW, to check out how the top MMO is doing things
"it's mostly generic fantasy tropes/stories/character types in a league setting. League lore has spent more time being re-written than advancing in any meaningful way, outside a few events. Most of the current re-write has been setup and updating old stuff." This is how you can spot someone hasn't read leagues lore, and just wants to complain. They literally have a whole universe page dedicated to their lore with a interactable map, and just released a book about each regions culture, weapons, armor, art, architecture, etc. I'm not a fan of the game league I don't like mobas, but saying league doesn't have good lore is a dumb take.
Yes, please Ghost, give us other daylies !
My guy, you keep saying poorly written lore, and i haven't gotten a example. Name a character, color story, place, anything dude; saying poorly written isn't a criticism, if you cant say what's poorly written. Generic fantasy is a weird thing to put on league. How is it generic, cause characters have armor and swords? That's super weird when Wow started off as humans vs orcs; now it has goblins, gnomes, dwarfs, werewolf's, dryads, the forces of light and darkness. Not really something you cant criticize Wow of. Again what riot writer has said this? You can enjoy both games lore, I promise you, its not hard. You can go to nobbel and watch is Wow lore, then go to necrit and watch some league lore. While your at it, maybe check out some Warhammer 50k lore, and Kirby lore (which is surprisingly dark).
Mate you cant say something is poorly done, then not explain why it is poorly done. All you have to say is "I don't know leagues lore and I'm speaking out of my rear end, when I'm confronted about it I cant give examples" Its fine, you got upset cause people where excited because the idea of being able to see the places and characters of the game they love. If you want i can teach you how to give criticism? If you wanted to talk about the faults of leagues lore, you could have said something like "League has a problem with some of their older champs being frozen in time and not moving forward in lore, a good example of that is Annie and Malzahar." Just like that you gave a valid criticism, instead of pretending to know what your saying. I know it might be hard for you, but I'm sure you'll overcome that challenge.
