Who would thought that we will come to this point XD
Hopefully I don't spread the virus as much as I (purposefully) spread that plague way back then.
I always thought this was really dumb...we don’t live our real lives like we play wow. I never understood how one translated to the other. I don’t log on to my alt to go to the city to buy and sell things.
This is really cool and unexpected lol I love this kind of thing.
My first thought was: "Guys, really? Utilizing a pandemic to get a WoW headline?"But my second thought was: "Well, whatever may help to educate people I guess!"
"Griefing" in the real-world sense is definitely a thing; it just translates to stubbornness or neglect. Heard about a guy in my town who needed to be escorted from a pharmacy by the police, because he went to get medicine after getting diagnosed, and when he learned that they were out of what he was after, he was quite irate. He actively refused to put on a mask when requested, and was apparently walking around deliberately coughing on doorknobs, handrails, and the counters until he was physically restrained.Though I suppose that's less a case of "stubbornness" and more just outright a case of the crazies.
I think the Corrupted Blood incident could be replicated on PTR at least.
No, an accidental bug isn't helping anyone except those in school learning how a flu can spread. I'm pretty sure if you talk to a doctor who's been working for 20+ years what would happen if you had a contagious virus and travelled the world without restraint what could happen he'd eventually come to the same logic loop without even know world of warcraft exists. This is good at explaining the situation, but I wouldn't act like this event suddenly inspired medical experts to think differently.
So...i will logout from life and i come back in next expansion
suddenly thinking about the people who are intentionally touching everything and then their faces, or going to a conference and shaking hands with everyone because they think they're being politically defiant.

What, I don't understand how it can help fight it....
The plague was a brutal and ugly time in the history of WoW.... and I’m glad I was involved. For Science!
How a disease/virus/WoW plague spreads is irrelevant for the current Corona epidemic. You can use the data to prevent and prepare for a future epidemic, not a current one like with COVID-19 which has already infected most countries in the world. The difference is that Blizzard manually made the plague unable to be spread any further by fixing a design oversight with computer code over the course of a few days. The Corona virus is on the other hand 12-18 months away from a cure (according to a CEO of a major medicine company) and real lives are at stake.
