Have a look at Asmon's "Classic request list" video, when news of a possible Classic Fresh was leaked. That list pretty much sums up all of the other changes people would like to see.Literally, no one asked for DirectX 12 and ray tracing. Why even waste time on this? Why not... I don't know... say... MERGE Classic Era servers! >.<
They should release an "experimental" Classic server, and denote some as legacy, that will never change. They could say, "we are gonna change things on the fly on this server, so if you want a purely old school experience, please play a legacy server." On the experimental server, they could tinker with things like the ability to toggle old/new graphics, delete world buffs, whatever they want really.
With these fresh starts and classic servers they are working opposite to what makes MMORPG so appealing. As you can see, this what they are doing and have done, isn't really working. Sure it will spike the numbers, but in the long rung these numbers die out. What is worse there is no longer a WoW. Old times there was tens of private servers and then there was The WoW. Now we got just private servers with different versions of WoW, except 3 of these versions- Classic, TBC and Retails, are hosted by Blizzard. So you see there is no longer the WoW. I loved how there was only one community of WoW, now you got 3. And soon there will be more.
I dunno how many of y'all have played the Halo Master Chief Collection, but on the remastered Halo: Combat Evolved you can toggle between the Original graphics/textures and the remastered/updated graphics with one keystroke. Now something like THAT for WoW Classic would be pretty cool in my opinion.
I played classic up to level 40ish but stopped because I didn't have time to play anymore. I'm glad for fresh start servers, so I can have a shot at actually playing the game this time. With reduced player numbers it may actually be more like vanilla then?
