Probably one of the most common pre-40 man raid tanking weapons there are out there. Drops from the prince in DM West. You have to kill the big dog demon thing Immol'thar (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=11496) first before the prince is 'red' to you.

120 armor, largest boost to any class from that would be a feral druid in Dire Bear form.

I wouldn't be surprised/upset to see any class who can use maces (besides maybe... priests...) rolling on it.

Ive been looking through all the 1h weapons here on thott and this is one of the best. Its also probably the easiest to get. The base damage is close to the reaver and good for revenge instant attacks. No tank would say no to a free 120 armour and 11 stamina? omg yes please. This is much better than a reaver, espeicially for MC, that dumb reaver proc takes up debuff slots.

Its particularly suited to a tanking/feral druid. 120 armor multiplied by 360% in dire bear gives us a 432 boost to AC, 552 if specced to get the 460% ac when shifted, and coupled with a nice off hand item like Tome of Knowledge (8 to all stats) adds up to a nice combination.

I think a rogue could find better, but it all depends on the circumstances and the group he is in. I really wish people would just quit whining, and so long as the player has a legitimate use for the item, he should roll on it.

I cannot praise this weapon enough, get it, whatever that takes, I can't believe people are so greedy. A mace specced rogue? A shaman? Like protection warriors don't have a tough time as it is, this is THE best (blue) tanking weapon imho. The speed of 2.2 is just right, too slow and it will take that much longer to trigger abilities, too fast and you won't generate enough hate. Yes it 'only' has 40ish dps, but any smart player knows that dps isn't everything. Get it, stick crusader on it, use it to farm armour. I would even go so far as to say acquire this weapon first then farm other bits of armour it;s that good and with a warlock DM West is not that tough.

I am a feral spec druid and I have to say this looks like an excellent candidate for my 1h weapon in cat form... Right now I am using tome of knowledge and the vesper hammer (with +15agi of course) but the added ac of this weapon would really help and there would only be one stamina loss. And no, I would stick with the warden staff for tanking.

And to all the other feral druids, ignore the hater rogues... I have no sympathy for them, I had to put more time and effort into getting my gear and reaching 301agi than they did, I guarantee.

It is making me laugh that people are saying this would not be for a druid, and that the unyielding maul is better. First, unyielding maul is 2h and gives very little other then AC. To a Feral druid the weapons DPS means NOTHING, our dmaage is all based on stats.

With Timewore Mace you get +11stam, +7str, and 120AC, with the off-hand Tome of Knowledge you get +8 to all. Lastly enchanted w/ +15str.

That is 30str. 19stam. 120AC and +8 to agi/int/spi. That will add more 38AP which helps a druid a lot in forms to hit harder.

Real tanking should be left to warrior so they have first shot on the mace, but druids can and do benefit greatly from this weapon. You all can keep your Unyielding Maul, I like to have DPS and 10k armor.

Yea i made love to this mace last nite. It was kinda hard cuz of the insane stamina and strength and armor it has, but i did it anyway. BEST BLUE TANKING MACE EVER

As a level 60, Mace Wielding Combat Spec.'ed (17-33-1) rogue, this is an amazing off hand. It has a great speed for poison procs, the 120 armor is like getting another head piece and the stats are worthwhile. I'm sure more than a few warriors would berrate me for rolling on this, but they should probably use a harder hitting one-handed weapon as a tank.

Hell, this has only a bit less damage than the much heralded Thrash Blade, and will swing a full half-second before it. It's served me well, and will serve me well this weekend when I score my Stormstrike hammer.

I have both the timeworn mace and the hedgecutter. Stat-wise, i'd opt for the timeworn mace, but I prefer the 1.9 speed to the 2.2 on the mace ,.. so its hard tp pick (and i had to cos I wanted to get one of em enchanted)

To decide , I've used both (unenchanted) in a small 5 man dire maul group and a MC raid. These were the perfect circumstances to test them as u can try them against the same mobs and with the same group. I'm not doing "the math" of which one is better, but just used em and compared.

the main thing i found is that the timeworn mace , is not too slow as a tanking weapon. Both in DM and MC ive had no trouble creating enough threat on mobs. true , the amount of heroic strikes you can do within a given time is reduced, but not by that much that it will significantly , or at all , hurt your tanking ability. The main argument for the hedgecutter here is that heroic strike doesnt cause global cooldown and can be used along with sunder armor and other abilities (you do a sunder, instantly , and next regular strike will be a heroic strike). You can do more HS's with the hedgecutter.

damagewise they arent very far apart (not very important for a tank, but damage does somewhat influences threat). But even with the added Heroic strikes of the hedgecutter the overall damage using the timeworn mace seems a but higher overall (again , unenchanted with no items applied to it).

So which one is better? In my opinion this depends on your talent spec for two reasons.

- a defensive specced warrior has shield bash. Especially in a scenario where you have a lot of rage the usefullnes of heroic strike is reduced (when you are tanking a boss). this is simply because, even though heroic strike is still used, it is mostly only used for the short period shield slam is on cooldown. Shield slam becomes the main "rage-dump" with a few heroic strikes in between them. Becuase heroic strike is less important, and because a good tank wont even notice a decrease in his threat generating ability, I'd prefer timeworn mace, simply because it has superior stats.

- A Mortal strike warrior who is tanking however doesnt have shield slam. His main rage dump is Heroic strike. This means that the amount of HS you can do within a perios is much more important, making the hedgecutter more attractive. Also , most arms/fury specced warriors are specced in axe specialisation , which grants them +5% to crit, which increases damage and should generate a lil bit more threat.

There it is , over analyzed to the fullest.
Me ? im prot specced, enchanted the timeworn mace, simply cos , as I mentioned, my tanking is the same , or the difference in threat generated is at least negligible (no reason for "doing the math" if i dont notice the difference). And I prefer the stats. Had I been MS specced: Hedgecutter all the way

With this, the trinket you get from killing draki in UBRS and the trinket from the codex of defense I get 500 armor extra. You can't just say "120 armor doesn't help anything to a platewearer", you gotta look at the big picture!

Im a classic 31/5/15 build warrior and as i recently accquired The Unstoppable Force i have now sunk 5 talent points into mace spec. I tank ALOT and as such have 2 complete sets of gear, one for dps, another for tanking. im looking at this as an endgame tank wep because it has great stats and the stun proc from my spec will be useful. just a shame about the speed really, if this was a 1.7 it would be godly.

My guild, ran DM west, and decided to take on the prince. and this dropped, regardless, we did it WITHOUT a warrior, just 2 shammies, one elemental (me) the other restoration, one damned good rogue, a lock, and a druid. no one else needed it, so i picked it up, i dont use it for pvp as much, since I already have a bone slicing hatchet, but outside of a BG this is my one hander, and it is an excellent weapon. The armor is a nice bonus and the adds work well for when I do wind up going into melee. If we had a warrior on our run I would have happily passed to him, but I have no problems having it.

But if I did I think until something really nice popped up or I had the money to buy it I would simply use the The Shatterer, not to much dmg, not to fast, but really would be nice on the ten second disarm. Then again, it or ironfoe would prolly be nice for some combat rogue spamming sinister strike, have not played much outside the hunter class still, on beastmastery or survival tree. Plus I still think its stupid hunters cant use a mace, why the f not.

Worthless mace for a Rogue, if you roll for this against a Warrior you should be shot in the face repeatedly. Even if I was in an all-Rogue party I would not want it, as its max damage and low delay are horrible attributes for a Sinister Strike using Rogue.

It's the best 1hand weapon for druids for a long time (until they're in raids that kill the four new dragons often).

Sure Warden staff is better for tanking, but impossible to farm and extremely expensive in auction house.

The 2hand mace from DM is also superior for tanking, but drop rate is like for epics.

Basically, anybody who arguments that druids should seek these weapons and not try to get the Timeworn Mace is an idiot.

Having both a 60 Druid twink and Warrior main (Feral / Prot MT), I'd never roll on this weapon if a warrior also has need on it. It indeed is one of the best pre-MC/ZG tank weapons & as such I'd always let the Warrior call dibs on it - in raid instances, he'll very likely end up as an off-tank or even MT whereas the dru, Feral or not, will (be forced to) heal.

As far as rogues & shamans are concerned, pfft, kiss my hairy cow arse: This weapon is just one of several good weapons to use for you, just as is the case with Druids. You guys don't need it any more (though certainly neither any less) than a feral or a 30/21 instant heal bear. No compunctions whatsoever to roll on Timeworn vs. a rogue - which is just how I got mine (I tanked, the warrior in the group DPSed & didn't want it because he liked his Krol Blade better). Won the roll & now use it with Tome of Knowledge as my 'hybrid set', i.e. when I'm playing off-tank/2nd heal within a Warrior MT/Priest MH group layout.

Sunders are an instant attack and are completely independent of weapon speed. You shouldnt have any problem getting sunders off with this. Try bloodrage before each fight for the rage boost if you are really having problems. Personally, I'd love to have this as its probably one of, if not the best non-epic tanking weapons in the game.

I'm on my 12th run now, haven't even seen it drop yet. Damn dagger dropped for the 5th time. I've seen ALL the other blue drops. (Those that has over 1% chance to drop anyway.)

Only good thing about this is that DM West is a quick run to do, usually it won't take more then 1hr 30min to do...

Hope it drops soon, so I can stop pestering my guildies about DM runs...

I know it looks great on paper but...My alt warrior has it and i find it rather slow and tough to get enough sunders early in fight. Combined with dps toons with epics and it's a taunt fest to try to hold aggro with it. Maybe it's just me but would like to know what other warriors think especially about the speed of this mace.
