I've done DM West 10 times at least. I've seen the Timeworm mace 5-6 times but I haven't seen the Distracting Dagger or these bracers once. Am I doing something wrong?

Considering thats 10 agi for a hunter is 20 att power + 0,2% crit + 20 armor :

- 64 armor
+ 3 att power
+ 2 sta
+ 0,2% crit

those are THE BEST non epic items for hunters dps TOO
And i do not even consider that those bonus adds to melee dps too, and give some dodge

(yes its a pain in the ass for a hunter to increase crit, whinners rogues should chech a little more thottbot to see how many drops they have.....
damn im stupid, they already did it, they quoted everywhere "ROGUE ITEM !" =)

i think leather should default to a rogue unless no rogues are present or the rogues pass, however, cant say these arent damn good hunter bracers.

Hunter were last added to the game, and when the game started almost all the non-set mail was for shamans. The lack of hunter mail + armor amount being unimportant to a hunter + rogues and hunter both needing ag/sta = hunters used lotsa leather gear.

Now since then new instances and new mail drops/recipes being added has made most leather gear obselete. Bracers is the 1 exception. Swift flight bracers are okay, but these esclipse ones are better. They are the best hunter bracers outside of the 3 MC epics.

Unlike rogues, a careful PVE hunter will seldom get hit, especially with physical damage. Our combination of ranged attack and the rediculously useful agro-wiping properties of Feign Death means that unless we're just sloppy, we'll never get agro. Armor is of little concern to the vast majority of hunters.

Having said that, that previous post declaring rogues to be the most greedy class is certainly absurd. Clearly, the actions of individuals have no bearing at all on the overall manner of a class, especially since such assignments are so arbitrary to begin with.

Just because we have the ability to wear inferior mail armors, that somehow gives you claim to every piece of agi gear in the game?

It's funny. When it comes to a debate over a high dps melee weapon, hunters go on and on about how they have to melee because aimed shot gets sooooo much hate (which I'm inclined to agree with). But when it comes to a debate over good +agi/+crit%/+att power leather, everything changes, and now hunters will never get hit and defense is useless.

That makes as much sense as saying that hunters should get all the agility daggers and swords, because rogues can use maces and we hunters can't.

Tell you what, we get preference over you on maces, and you get preference over us on axes. Fair?

I'd also like to point out that we can do a tad more than you with daggers... hell, we can do a tad more than you with any melee weapon we can equip, but that just comes off like I'm bragging.

Look, if a hunter has crappy bracers and this is a big step up for him, I think I'd be ok with him calling need on it. If he already has something good like beaststalkers or some such, let the rogue have it. His alternatives just aren't as good as yours.

There's two things I've seen mentioned or hinted at but never pressed home. Two points as to why I think a hunter should always let a rogue have these if in a group with one:

A) We don't have access to mail, that's a whole other tier of armor (no matter how small) that you get to choose from as long as you design your groups so that you have your pick and choose of leather pieces, and there are plenty that are easily accessed without rogue interference (devilsaur, serpentine sash, deepfury bracers, all of those are BoE and quite good).

B) While the next best bracers for hunters are epics from MC, this is BETTER THAN EPICS FROM MC FOR ROGUES. This is better than Nightslayer bracers and barring set bonuses I wouldn't choose Nightslayer over this if given the chance.

EDIT: Can be considered better than Bloodfang Bracers as well which drop off of Razergore, the first boss of BWL. I can tell you from personal experience that this is an extremely hard fight.

Just got them today. It was my first time successfully killing Prince. They are so beast. I slapped a +9 stamina enchant on them and they are ready to slay.

1. I'm a 60 hunter.
2. I wear these.
3. The first time these dropped, I passed the roll to a rogue. The second time, there was no rogue. The third time, we DE'ed them.
4. These top my list of pre-MC gear. Someday, I will get my epix and vendor these. Not gonna be tomorrow.
5. Hunter is far from useless in DM-W. Hunters and warlocks are the only two classes that can CC the mana elementals. Learn 2 play.
6. Killing the Prince is the absolute end of the instance, and it requires a lot of leg- and bladework to get to him. You'll need a well-integrated 5 man group to even get to him, and he's no a pushover himself. That said, the Dire Maul instances are some of my favorite in the game.

for all intended purposes, for a rogue this bracer's stat comes to...

Bracer of Eclipse - 24 str, 10 agil, 9 stam.

Only the bloodfang bracer is without a doubt an 'upgrade' from Bracer of Eclipse.

With NS bracer, I lose 14 ap (whole DPS point), while gaining 60 health and 10 agility. Fair trade for most.

With Wristguard of stability, I'm actually LOSING 10 agility and 10 health.

Blizz itemization team really needs to wake up and realize what rogues need. Especially seeing the BF chest stats? Damn! What are they thinking?

Here is the reason, there are 2 different types of hunters or at least most hunters fall into one of these 2 catagories. The ranged attackers go for pure stats, they usually only care about stats and they try and stay as far away as possible from physical damage so armor isnt much of a concern, if it was cloth with AP or AGI they would roll on it. Most go for ranged weapons first and usually equip 2 weapons based purely on stats so they can get more AP from enchants (2x AGI enchant on 2 weapons = 60 AP). A lot of these hunters are ususally PvE oriented. Combat hunters, (usually more pvp oriented) generally wear mail over leather for the slightly higher damage mitigation but stats are still the main focus. They also go for high damage melee weapons (usually 2h), because they can only shoot a player for so long the boost in damage they get from a good melee weapon helps a lot. Also AP goes for both melee and ranged AP so more hunters go for raw AP for PvP and ranged AP for PvE.

In PvP Hunters almost always end up in a melee situation in the end, and each peice of leather that has better stats than mail is more damage, since hunters can't heal themselves they need to kill as fast as possible and that means maximising damage done, and when raptor strike can crit for upto 800 with the opening melee attack because they have stacked AP on a high damage 2h they love it. Hunters get such a large equip table because they end up doing different things, in different situations hunters will need different equipment, like Druids.

I have started a Hunter myself because I wanted to see why hunters thought they needed to roll on leather, I have a feral Druid who needs a lot of the same stats as rogues/hunters and like it was said before almost any hunter you see will have at least 1 peice of leather on them, some would rather sacrifice the armor for 1 or 2 peices of leather to get a better peice of equipment overall, that being said I would also like to say I as a Druid have rolled on good cloth peices I needed for healing gear. Most of the time I am the only healer so no one has a problem with me rolling, in other situations (pug) I would simply ASK if anyone minded if I roll on certain items beforehand (I do this for feral gear when I am playing healbot for the group).

Many times Hunters will take the dps role that a rogue would normally fill, in some cases no rogue would be there to roll. So before you go blacklisting hunters because they have leather gear learn2play and actually grind up a hunter and see why AP is so important, and for god sakes if you are so loot whorish about things just ask what people may be rolling on before you head out so there are no more "Hunter Ninja'd Dal'Rends" threads on the wow forums. Its pretty easy to do and takes only a few mins to sort out who can/can't roll on the possible drop, and if you dont like it then just go with another group.

well sure if u think so good for u, did this with not one but two rogues a tank a resto druid going feral all the way and a shaman as main healer. aoe ? pffftt over rated as always..

cleared the whole thing in little over a hour no wipes and the prince ? push over.. one of the fastest runs i say again full run. only problem is we got &*!@ty drops out of every single thing..

as for the group average equipment ? some bg epic rewards on the tank and all pre mc gear. nothing fancy over all.

I play a 60 hunter, and I made a devilsaur set for him (with my 60 ROGUE) at level 30 so that he'd have it when he hit 57. A hunter that is doing his job is a RANGED attacker, which means armor doesn't much matter to him, and if a warrior or rogue gets in close enough for attacks and keeps you there (hamstring, KS, cripp, w/e) chances are you're not getting out alive without feign scattershot aspect kite or some variation of it. The whole practice of playing a hunter is to NEVER GET HIT.

That having been said, I would really love to have these on my hunter. I wouldn't dream of rolling over a rogue, but people obviously don't understand how stressful it is to get good mail gear as a hunter. As a previous poster said, most of the mail ig was made for shaman, and it's pretty much stayed the same. I would use these over giantstalker for god's sake, so if a hunter asks politely if he can roll, plz don't flame him and call him a nub, cuz without playing a hunter and seeing how frustrating it is, you're the nub :P

These drop from the Prince at the end of DM West. He will only turn hostile, and be killable, if you first kill his pet dog.

His dog is only killable if you first take down the 5 sets of pylons guarded by 10 or so Arcane Elementals. These pylons are located 1) right as you walk in, 2) 2 sets on the top deck, 3) 2 sets in the dog room, past the big tree boss.

As noted in an above post, these are the best bracers in the game. I put +9 STR on these the second I got them. Really, the best.

I'm not one to comment on these things, but wow! We were at Immo'thar, with 8 minutes till the server fell for it's Tuesday morning maintanence. Party was:

57 warrior
60 mage
60 mage
60 priest
60 rogue (me)

We charged in, downed Immo'thar only losing the tank~ virtually no strategy. Tank died at about 25%, we DPSed him down fast as we could. Ressed tank, run outta the arena. Tank got aggro from some of the faster patroling elementals, died again. Quick res, into the Library!

4 minutes to spare. Priest/mages were drinking. I was still poisoned by the eye, lost stealth being too close to the Prince. Priest only had 40% mana at best. x.X; So we just zerged him. Priest died, then the Tank, and hate bounced between the mages till I got enough Backstabs in. Evasion (Prep and Vanish was already out at this point) bought a little time, but I fell next. Mages lived, those lovely clothies~ Looted with 45seconds to spare. Bracers! w00tz! And some nice shadow res cloak no one seemed to want. o.x; Ah well!

Finally, no more DM! Except for my nature res, when I have'ta worrie about that... and it's still my favorite (set of) instance(s)~

Easily better than SC. SC is generally pointless.
Pads of the Dread Wolf > SC boots
Wyrmtongue Shoulders (Flamescarred for MC) > SC shoulders
Bracers of the Eclipse > SC bracers
Nightbrace/Cadaverous tunic > SC tunic
Devilsaur > SC legs and gloves
SC cap > Eye of Rend (the exception).
Of course, with ZG out there are various nice drops from there. Blooddrenched Grips are slightly better than Devilsaur, for instance.

i actually had them once, but it was set to group loot and a warrior rolled on them..he was denounced as a ninja and killed from his guild for it though.

1hr, 2hrs? Er... no

Try a 20min run. Took Prince Tortheldrin down in about 30min with a 5man group. Entered DM North and cut through into the library, Prince is in library.
He can also be reached through DM West, but DM North is the fastest and shortest route IMO.

Imo, better than not only SC, but also NS. And BF. The best bracers in the game for a rogue. With +9STR on these, 43 AP on my bracers. I can see a Hunter wanting these too, and a feral druid. And a dps warrior.
