Well I just bought this on the Zul'Jin server. I started leveling an AoE pally, and kinda stalled at 20 because I didn't have any of the key parts of gear I wanted. Every time I've been in a city I've asked for this, and I play at least a few hours every day. I went about two weeks without finding anyone that had it, and then someone messaged me today. I asked how much he wanted, because I knew what the mats were. He had made it a long time ago for his character but never used it.

I named the price, at 125g. 60g~ for mats I could provide from AH, plus the time to farm the Runes, plus knowing the recipe (gotten from a quest in Blackrock Spire, a dungeon I don't think is visited much now that we have the outlands) makes it worth that to me. He was fine with that price, he said he got the runes while farming for felcloth. When I met up with the seller I gave him 150g, just because it had taken me so long to find it I was pretty grateful.

I was leveling blacksmithing on my Paladin because I didn't think I'd ever find someone to sell this to me. I might still try to get it to sell, but I don't think there's very much demand there. Is the 150g I paid too much, too little, just right?

Also... is this still effected by spell damage?

~~If not anymore, but used to be affected by spell damage.~~ Spell power affecting the Drain Life -effect is now confirmed. This is actually a very useful tool for farming as a paladin, and combining it with Skullflame Shield will work wonders despite the low levels of these items. You can pull entire low level dungeons and just rampage through with relative ease if you wish to do so. If you are uncertain of your supremacy, you can tweak it even further with the usage of Mending on your weapon, which will heal you for 744 to 856 with a proc chance of 15%. If you're thinking of putting an enchant on this chest piece, it is worth to see the math results of Lesser Absorption vs. health below (graciously calculated by davvv)

This enchant is better than +100HP to chest if you get hit more than 80 times/combat.
This enchant is better than +150HP to chest if you get hit more than 120 times/combat.

From this simple format it is easy to calculate that the +25 absorption surpasses +250 health at 200 hits/combat. When farming low level dungeons, it will be the best choice for you, because you will be pounded a lot if you pull a lot. Mists of Pandaria may introduce new absorption enchants, but this will have to do for now. You can combine it with a Greater Rune of Warding as well.

The lower level version of this also is pretty nice, and more affordable. Though it does not steal, it just instantly - simply - heals you for 60 to 100. (same procrate, 3%) Oh, and it is called Truesilver Breastplate (median price ~20g buyout, depending on your realms economy)

P.S. You can't really get this item anymore, unfortunately. If anyone has these lying around, they're EXTREMELY lucky, because the quest which rewarded you with this recipe has been removed from the game. Hopefully it will be reintroduced at some point, albeit it is as unlikely as winning the lottery without participating.

Have read reports that as of the date of this posting the effect on this item is like a spell, so if you get hit you then attempt to stand there like a moron lifeleeching and other hits interrupt the effect. In other words it's pretty goddamn useless.

This breastplate truly sucks balls...its base stats are about the same as Truesilver Breastplate...the only difference instead of proc'ing a heal of 150ish hp, it steals 150hp...not worth it at all...def needs a stat boost somewhere in there

So far after the last patch, it seems to work as intended...Channelling is gone..it just appears on the enemy as a negative spell like(pally judgements). Also, when activated you no longer quit fighting and most spells don't cancel the effect while happening. I won't wear anything else as a pally for now.

An average of 3.6 healed/hit + 3.6 done to attacker/hit = good. Very nice for a ~52 warrior.

The new patch took away the +12 on this armor and its now lvl 52...if u want to get sumthing good get hydralisk armor...its much better.

IMO this would be great for protection paladins. Holy Shield + Retribution Aura + Shield Spike + This = a ton of damage done to attackers that hit you.

i'm a 300/300 as on khadgar i was recently %^&*ign arround in winterspring and found where the quest starts and i did it. the quest starts with a npc out in southern winterspring. That big bridge that goes over the ice gourge take a left at the end there will be like a ruin down temple along with those wonderfull 61 elite giants. talk to the npc there he will want you to kill the blacksmith in UBRS you kill him and suck his soul and take the unforged breast plate in UBRS then return to him and he will give you the plans along with 5 demon slaying elixers and a demon kissed sack which is just basically a lock box that dosn't require a key so a random green or sumthing. and thats the end of the quest. wasn't terribly hard to make but reitivly difficult to do the quest unless u have a good raiding guild. i have it at my ah for 130g buy out 90g bid if it sells for 100g+ then its worth the time, but only time will tell if its a compelte waste or not, cause its certanly not a 60 warrior armor.

I made this for my warrior to test its non-channeling abilities out and its actually pretty nice. wish it wouldnt have sucked when I made my paladin cus this +judgement/seal of light really really helps from the paladins I have sold it to

I can make this but the demonic runes req me to farm just to get the mats. and I have to farm next to the chinese ^&*!@#$s so, whisper me or send me a mail with a request and we can work something out

and btw the patch DID NOT take away the +12 stamina, its still just as thottbot describes it

Anyone know if the effects stack? Because it
seems this would be a great tanking chestplate.

If I'm getting hit by 3-4 mobs, will it suck off
each of them or just one at a time?

I'm currently wearing one of these. +12 stamina is at least adequate, and the good armor protection will last you until 60 and beyond, if necessary.

Most importantly, and contrary to what some here have said, the proc is actually quite effective. Remember, that's 120 Hp transferred from THEM to YOU. I've found that a 3% proc rate effectively translates into at least one activation almost every fight. That's a nice little mini-heal for you, and a solid bit of damage to the enemy.

So yes, overall I like it a lot, and chances are I'll be wearing this until I get the Valor chest or the Ornate Adamantium BP.

I picked one up from an armorsmith friend of mine, because I heard the attack bug was fixed.

It's true! The armor will siphon 120 life in 4 seconds off of anyone that attacks you.

I put it on a 60 Paladin and went looking for multiple mobs. The good news here is that if you get hit a lot, and Paladins do, targets on all sides get lit up by the life drain green glow and graphic.

It was common to see it go off more than once in a multiple mob fight. Sometimes you will see two targets get it at once, and once in a six mob fight, 3 were being siphoned, bringing 360 life to yours truly, and of course doing 360 damage to them.

Just for fun I took it into the dead mines, and watch mob after mob die without a swing being taken.

That all being said, the base stats aren't worth the exchange. Demon forged armor is decent plate, but for higher level characters, try for a set piece.

Great piece of fun armor though. I keep mine in the bank now for when I'm bored.

The damn rune reagent is BoP, and drops 1 in 20 from the stupid Tricksters! So if I want someone else to make it for me, I cannot simply supply the mats, I have to force them to farm the damn stuff for an hour or two. HOORAY BLIZZARD SUCKING AWAY MORE OF EVERYBODY'S TIME!

I wonder how long a paladin could tank the SM wearing this?

If mobs hit for 14 damage on adverage, this chest will heal you for over 1/4 of your total hitpoints every round. Good for low level instance pulls.

Life Drain's health gain is not amplified by + healing.
You gain life equal to what you drain, so + damage will give more healing.
To amp your Drain life's damage AND healing, look for + Spell damage.
As to whether it amps the proc, I can't answer that.
Does + Fire damage amp your Fiery Weapon O.o I don't think so.

Well regardless, and if this item COULD suck, imagine if you were being struck by 10 people. There would be now a 30% chance it would proc, per hit.

Now imagine if your being attacked by say, 100 people, as AoE pallies normally do. Well, this would suffice, for the 120 drain, as several heals, and though I'm not sure if this works as an effect that effects a whole group or a target,you would be being healed alot regardless.

Now imagine getting hit alot, this thing procc 3 times a second,, and the healing and damage is for 400.

Yeah.

The capability of being healed AND doing 400 damage basically 3 times a second agianst 100 mobs means that in an effect, it would be very hard for you to die. You would gain 1200 health FASTER than you would lose it, meaning what?

You would be close to full health the whole battle and would be doing a ton of dps the whole battle.

This is why it would be amazing if spell damage effected it...

Spell damage FTW, and I wonder if it effects this O.o

wtf is the point if it breaks combat? 120 life over 4 seconds on something this high is worthless. especially since it causes you to stop everything. all that's going to do to is get you killed faster.

The BP itself would be decent to make and sell if it didn't require those stupid Demonic Runes to make. Although i think i may find a good place and settle in for a while a farm 20-30 of them so i can make and sell some of these things.

I recommend this item, but only for farming. At level 60 farming 50's and lower this is nice for a pally. I already have lots of D on other items, and some mana chest pieces, but when you pull and entire group, and they die from hitting you: its the best. Heads up it isn't great, but the proc goes off lots when you have 3-5 guys on you (or dogs). Enjoy.

FACT: The break combat and drain effect is GONE. This Procs and does NOT break combat and does a 3 Tick HOT for the heal amount.

FACT: The drain life HOT is NOT affected by +dam/+heal.

FACT: You CAN have more than one DRAIN LIFE leeching at once.

OPINION: IMO This is one of the absolute best items to have for a AOE Herder build as soon as you can start wearing it at 52 and Def at 54 when combo'd with a Skullflame Shield.

Combine 1) a Herder build (Imp Holy Shield/Blessing of Sanctuary/Imp Ret Aura/etc.)
with: 2) Demon forged Breastplate (easy to get since its craftable)
3) Skullflame Shield with the best Shield Spike you can get
4) And Lots of +dam/heal gear (+DEF gear is not needed at this level and the Skullflame Shield gets full benefit of +heal gear)
5) Toss in trinkets or other armor items that add to passive damage or heal proc and it gets even sicker.

And you have the best recipe for AOE Herding TONS of mobs at once. a 1 or 3% free heal proc may not seam like a lot until you start AOE Herd Tanking 8-10 mobs at once. Then the shield and chest heals procs all the time and you CAN have multiple drain HOTs up at once. With a partner healing u can hold aggro and destroy 20-25 mobs at once. You don't even need to swing, passive damage will kill them all, but its safer to be holy shielding, but u can lose connect/ come back and have a pile of dead mobs around and feel safe every time u drop connection during a fight.

I used to farm entire undead fields in WPL with a healer partner. My records for solo herding in WPL at mobs +1/-1 level of me were 12 in 1 pull solo and 28 in a 2man with a healer. Yeah you level REALLY fast both ways.

And the skullflame shield is the best for this all the way until the Lichen Guard from Sporegarr Rep, which at level 70 and a raid tank, i am Still using that shield a lot. It's one of my 3 shields I always carry.

I can't recommend this item. The proc causes you to channel for three seconds, apparently interrupting your attack. I only wish I had not sold my previous armor before equipping it.

Never buy one of these! EVER!

When the proc goes off, it causes you to stop attacking and do nothing for 4 seconds while you channel the proc. You lose DPS, aggro, etc and gain very little for it.

DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE AND WASTE YOUR MONEY!

seems like an upgrade on the truesilver breasplate which wasnt a good buy either imo. I think there are better plates out there... waste your time trying to get the carapace then farming the demonic runes. If it procs the same as the TS BP (not quite once per fight) then having 1 extra Crit + damage from the Agi and strength bonus gives you the difference easily. Of course what do I know ..im only lvl 44.

To those playing classic wow, just to confirm that it scales 0.4x with spellpower over its duration and can effect multiple mobs at once. Must have for AoE pulls.

This is one of my favorites to make in classic - not too many blacksmiths go Armorsmith, and it's such a pain to farm the runes that each chest can go for hundreds of gold.
