i must say, i found the simile of healing to whack-a-mole very interesting, and the cry for an addon that represents whack-a-mole healing rather hilarious, but somewhat accurate if you're an add-on heavy healer. *shrug*
however, I must give game, set and match to....
having said all that i think there's a valid argument that healing could be more varied and fun than it currently is but the answer is NOT to give healing to warlocks... clearly. the answer is to look at ways to make healing more fun
for the healers
.
this.

When the PUG I'm in has a crap tank and I keep drawing aggro I'll change from Desro to Demo so I can pull out my Felguard and let him play off tank. It's been known to $%^& off the tank, but I need
someone
to hold their attention so I don't get killed 5 times in a simple heroic.
so... you're pulling threat of your tank. you change to demo and your felguard tanks... how? he's got awful threat generation so how's he supposed to tank something that a real tank can't?
you were pulling agro so you switched to demo which naturally shares 20-25% of its threat with its pet, meaning that the tank had a better chance - might be more believable and actually a useful piece of advice.

I'd like to see affliction also being raid healing. Could make Siphon life heal raid Equal to 2x the amount of damage you do with corruption as well as having haunt cause a healing aura to other players while its on. Maybe even have health funnel targetable on players :)
/sarcasm
Actually, i think it would be fun to see warlocks as a sacrifice healer like that. Not as much capability as the frontline healers, but the ability to manipulate our HP or our pets to heal others. health funnel other players is actually great. maybe have the succubus do an AoE sexy dance HoT :D
Impossibly, I know... But I dream of a day when we actually have the utility promised in the Blizzard class summary. Haven't seen it since day one and anything would be welcome at this point.

As for how it would be done, well there's always demon form, but blizz doesn't like having classes have the same ability as one another, and that would be too much like bear form (like asakawa said).
Im sorry i know this is a little off topic, but blizz doesnt get to hide behind that argument when they are doing it elsewhere. I mean im not really for lock tanking at all, but as of 3.3 the already grey line between mages and locks is going to virtually disappear.
If mages are gonna be running around with permanent pets, well then i would like something definitive that separates the classes. Whether it be lock tanking or something else. (besides would the idea of a range tank really be that bad.... i mean it could bring in a whole new aspect of play, new boss strats, a new type of trash mob... something to spice things up a little)

The inherent problem with Warlocks tanking or healing is that those 2 things are designed to help other players.
Warlocks do not do that. We are entities of pure evil and causing pain, suffering and destruction are our only goals.

You joke, but I was talking to a friend of mine about ways to make healing more interesting. We thought about a new class where their healing is done by damaging the boss/mobs.
Or just grab 4 dps and a tank. Have a pally use
Judgement of Light
, and watch the heals fly. Win, right?
