I actually have recently placed mp5 higher on my priority list, moving from "dead useless/avoid it like the plague/lol at people gemming for it" to "ok Ill take it if theres crit on it." My ideal gear still has loads of crit and equal amounts of haste and mp5. The thing is, mp5 will never give us bigger heals, so I will always stand by what Ive said about crit as our best green stat while Illumination exists. Blizzards been getting us ready for it anyway, putting mp5 on most of our Ulduar drops in place of haste or (gasp) crit.

If it's an upgrade, it's an upgrade.
Armor really doesn't matter to healers. Plate is superior for paladins, most of the time, because plate is designed for paladins, not because it has armor. If a cloth, mail, or leather piece happens to be an upgrade, it is still good for a paladin.
People in cloth need to realize that in PvE, plate isn't all cracked up as it seems. Without tanking gear, guys like Patchwerk are going to one shot you, no matter the amount of armor you've got.
If someone can and will use it, why let it go to waste?
This.

Agreed. Not sure why people think a small increase to our armor is going to save our lives, since we're usually taking AE magic damage anyway.

If you use Rawr (as I'm sure most raiders do) it quite often suggests Cloth, Leather and Mail items over Plate.
An upgrade is an upgrade. Gold is easy to get. Shafting someone out of an upgrade for the cash a BoE might give is just greedy.

So, a BOE mail glove drops. I have naxx-10 gloves, and the mail ones are better. None of the shamans wanted to main-spec roll on them, so I rolled, and
one shaman rolled off-spec
. The RL goes "I have one off spec roll and one plate wearer roll, I am keeping these."
Even if a Paladin "shouldn't roll on non-plate gear" (which is a load of %^&* in the first place, but hold that thought), another player wanted to roll on this item for off-spec (nevermind that the Paladin was rolling MAIN SPEC, but again, hold that thought). The fact that it's BoE or BoP, in my opinion, should get pretty well ignored here -- it's an upgrade for someone, and they obviously had intents on using it. Why in the hell wouldn't you throw a piece of gear to someone who is going to use it?
But back to that previous gripe of mine -- the fact is, Paladins don't have proficiency in ONLY Plate gear. They have proficiency in Cloth, Leather, Mail, and Plate. What's there to debate?
Let me put it this way: If there was a piece of gear with Haste, AP, and Armor Pen... who would it go to?
Now, what if I was to tell you that this piece of gear was Cloth? Does this mean that the Rogues, Feral Druids, and Warriors don't get to roll, because they wear Leather / Plate?

My tankadin's healing set (yeah that was stupid) basically is only about half plate. Mage gear works great and when you're doing Uld10 and your healing set is back in naxx10 you'll find anything better...
My shaman has this ring i want to get rid of that's got spirit on it...

I'll stop rolling on cloth, leather, and mail caster gear when blizzard stops making them so good.
