Turn Evil does a "fear" effect on demon (and undead) targets. Minions are crucial to Warlocks because of Soul Link (splitting 20% (or 25% glyphed) of damage done to the Warlock) and because of their abilities, such as Devour Magic (a dispel), Seduction (a CC), Sacrifice (an ability that shields the Warlock, absorbing ~8k damage (unglyphed)), and so on.
You could also look at some of the (mostly PvP-oriented) stickies on this forum that list information on Warlocks, to try to think of ways to counter them.

As a lock that does some PvP, i can wholeheartedly say i feel sorry for ret/anything except rogue teams. We own rets all over the place. After their bubble wears off, its all over pretty much. When i see a ret pally and no rogue, i say "Oh look, free arena rating". But, thats just me. Anyway, for the most part, its like kangi said, stay in their face as much as you can, and watch where they lay their port, so if they disappear, you know where they went to and you can start heading towards them. And as previously said, spam fear the pet. Succubus will seduce, fel pup will silence (with a pretty short CD if you ask me), and the voidwalker will bubble the lock.
And sorry for the wall of text.

If he's destro, keep him spell locked, keep him stunned, and keep him from casting spells with silences and interrupts.
If he's aff, then just keep him stunned as you tank down damage, and keep tremor totems up next to him if when he pops, he uses howl.
On another note, are you serious?

how geared is your partner, if a ret pally cant roflstomp any clothy class there is something wrong here.
just have him bubble or something so he cant be cc'd and he will be able to destroy the lock in the few seconds he is immune, also, grounding totem and fire resist totem on your part
It's replies like these that make me lol.
Seriously, ret paladins aren't even a challenge to me. I am a Destruction Specced Warlock with 850 Resilience and I walk all over any type of paladin. I recently bought Dual Spec on him so that I could have a PvE and PvP spec and since i've gotten my PvP spec, I haven't lost to a Paladin yet.
All you have to do is quickly Death Coil, throw on Immolate, Conflag, Fear, CB when he gets some distance, (most warlocks make the mistake of instantly bursting once they Fear, this immediately breaks the Fear and they are still right in your face.) I fear, wait until they get some distance, and then start bursting, by the time their fear is over with Conflag is off cooldown, so i'll pop that and they get dazed due to Aftermath, which gives me more time for a CB or Incinerate fillers. And if they even get the chance to bubble, i just pop VW Sacrifice (I have the improved version within the demo tree) and he can't touch me and I can't touch him, so it's basically a stand off until both of ours is gone, then I finish the job with more CC and Burst.
I get into Paladin encounters in Arenas and Farming all of the time and I don't think i've been below 80% HP by one yet.
Anyhow, to get to the point, for Warlocks, killing their pet is when you really have them, just make sure to be cautious, if you kill their pet, they may be specced into demo and can instantly summon a new pet instantly. Kill a warlocks pet, they will either use the massive buffs in Demo or lose Soul Link if they are aff or destro, either way, warlocks pets are most important.
I am in a 2s Arena team and we never lose to a Healer + DPS combo (hunter/warlock) so we are very bursty. I really don't think for 2s a Healer + DPS is as good as for 3s with the 2 DPS 1 Healer combo. 2s teams seem to do a lot better if it's 2 DPS.
My technique is I always join the arena with my VW out, the second I have to use Sacrifice (if at all) is when i'll use Fel Domination and bring out the correct pet for the fight, such as fel or succubus, most of the time we win even with my VW out.
