Hey guys, I quit WoW August of '06, and I'm thinking of playing again. My previous experience with it was a little iffy though so I was hoping I could get some feedback on how things are nowadays to help me decide.
One of the major reasons I left WoW was because it required an insane amount of time investment for 'up-to-date' gear and with me starting college in a couple weeks; I didn't think playing casually like I'd have to would be enough raid or Rep Grind to keep up with the current item levels. As I'm looking through the WoW sites though it seems Blizzard has fixed this by changing the way PvP items are acquired, and giving casual players more viable options for obtaining items comparable to top end raid drops. The new Honor System looks pretty good but maybe a little good to be true: how long does it usually take to grind up 20 tokens per BG, are the queue times pretty quick with the Crossover-BGs or God forbid...slower, and lastly, how difficult is it to find an AB/WSG game before Lv60 or70?
At the moment, without raiding, I'm planning to obtain most of my gear (epics preferably) through the Lv60-70 5-mans, the BoJustice rewards, the Lv70 epic Honor rewards, the Arena once I'm in almost all epics, and maybe the higher end Rep rewards (Aldor, etc). The thing I'm worried about however is how long the Honor/Arena/Rep grinding usually takes to get the full Arena sets, and the Misc. items from Honor and Rep rewards. Can I do this within a reasonable amount of time if I play 1-3 hours a night at most?
The last thing I'd like feedback on is probably the most opinionated but please try to be honest. I'm thinking of making a 17/44/0 Swords Rogue but I'm a little uneasy with how they might do in Arena, and BG PvP. My prior experience was this, with combat Swords I could hold my own against Warriors/Paladins/Shamans/Druids/Hunters, but I pretty much got 2-3 shotted by casters when our gear was pretty comparable. With Ambush/Backstab I stood a better chance against casters although they could still nuke or kite me to death, while Warriors and Paladins destroyed/outlasted me without Riposte. I've looked at some of the new skills (Imp Sprint, CoShadows) and they look pretty nifty, but they seem pretty easy to counter. Is the current situation really any different from my own experience? Seriously, should I be ready to "Q.Q" with Combat Swords? I honestly want to spec by how I like to play, but if the spec isn't reasonable for PvP...it makes me not want to play.
Well, I'm sorry if this was a bit long winded. I'd appreciate any honest, and constructive feedback. Thanks.
P.S.- I'm thinking of taking up the 10 day free trial of TBC, but will I be able to play it without the original WoW installed on my computer? I looked on the WoW Community site but I couldn't find a way to contact them and ask, preferably by email.

I'm not really concerned with leveling my Rogue; it's what I'm expecting once I hit 70 that worries me. In any case; I play Alliance on Mal'Ganis.

Well then at 70 for me its either one of the following:
1. Farming mats for money or professions
2. Farming rep
3. Pvp
4. Raids
5. Daily quests
If none of these really interests you then I don't know. But I am leveling other characters to take away the dullness of arena. its about the same for me, except for some off reason i feel like tracking the ashbringer story, which i need to get the corrupted ashbringer from Naxx first... but i usually dont go into raids, i like pvp
also (not to sound insulting because i dont mean it that way) the post is kinda asking a lot all at once... well i suppose it could be worse, you could just jump back in the game and be unexpereneced.

You play Alliance on Mal'ganis? I highly recommend rerolling, unless you want to die repeatedly and often, and get camped for hours. :)
