WoW Has Changed For Me

I started playing about a week before Burning Crusade hit. I played hard for most of the time and eventually found myself in a hardcore raiding guild just around the time of Black Temple. I loved Burning Crusade and of course loved WOTLK, well, all up until Ulduar. I quit a little before TOC came in and am trying to get back but as hard as I look at it WoW just isn't the same; or is it? I can't tell. Everything feels too complex now and I don't understand why or how that happened. I used to be great at this game. Where did that go?
Am I destined to quit this game or is there some way I can get back to loving it?

Snarkiness aside, nothing has really changed difficulty wise since you left. I'm not sure what you're looking at that's making the game seem more complex. I can only imagine you came back and expected to pick up exactly where you left off, at the top of the game with nothing really left to learn - but the fact is you have been gone for a short while and there have been some changes. They'll take some time to get used to, but there hasn't been anything major.
Don't let yourself be overwhelmed by everything hitting you at once. You learned the game once and you can do so again. You can start out with the easier heroics to get back into the swing of things, and work your way up from there. With that said, you have to realize that you'll never recapture that sparkly new feeling from when you first started, if that's what you're looking for.

Just a thought but maybe what the op is referring to is the amount which has changed in the meantime since bc.
I refer to the now numerous types of badges, factions etc which can be obtained.
In a very short space of time (compared to vanilla / bc timescales) blizz have introduced an enormous amount of new content. I will admit to often feeling a bit swamped myself, ie, original heroism / valor badges were avail then we had conquest, triumph etc, all the boa kit and the respective vendors who popped up to represent this.
Factor into this the huge changes to levelling, class dynamics, new raids, new daily qs, skill changes (ie flying / cold weather skill ) and i can imagine that if you were coming back to wow after a sabbatical then the game will feel very different and a little daunting.
I am certainly not lamenting any of the changes, in fact i have enjoyed alot of the content and its helped extent the life of the game for me prior to cat but then i have been around to adapt to it.
If you are someone who has started playing since Wotlk then its what you have been brought up on and the above isnt an issue.
In fact, a mate of mine who has been away from wow for about 6 months to give some other mmo's a go said that after reading patch notes he wouldnt be coming back because he simply couldnt be arsed to adjust to the new content.
Just a few thoughts anyway :)
