If you played guitar or skateboarded for 6 hours a day would it be an addiction? Would you need counseling for spending too much time memorizing lines for a play or training for a sport? Video games imo are an outlet and should be enjoyed like any other hobbie. I would only consider it an addiction when it starts to destroy other parts of your life.

I agree with you too an extent.
I think everything in our lives conflicts and partly 'destroys' other parts of your life.
How about professional gamers? Would you say that is was an addiction or a hobby for them? If you were too say it was an addiction then how can it be a bad thing if they're making money and making a name for themselves from WoW?
IMO WoW is a hobby, if it does damage other parts of your life then that is upto the individual. Professional football players have let football dominate their lives at the expense of schooling. friends, family, habits yet no one has even mentioned them, why?
Another argument is activities such as golf and darts are classified as 'sports' yet WoW and CS take alot more skill and knowledge too master, yet just because you are sitting down infront of a computer screen it is deemed as having a negative impact on children?

Drug dealers make a name for themselves in the underworld and are making money; does that make it okay?
Not trying to be snarky - it's just that becoming known for something and making money at it does not automatically make said thing "good".
WoW can be taken too far. Personally, I think the key as to whether or not something is addictive is this: Do you suffer withdrawal when it is taken away? If I can't play WoW for some reason, I go do something else - read a book, watch television, play with my dogs. I don't get the shakes and go break into someone's house to use their Internet and get my "fix".
