PuG: i keep them if they forget, no exeptions
Guild or friends: i tell em, no exeptions
I have the same philosophy for KT Loot =D
PuG: I keep it all, no exceptions.
Guild or Friends: I let them roll if they need it.
Double standards FTW, right?

If the group specifically designated you as the DEer, then everyone in the group should be able to roll on the shards since you are getting every piece of loot that is not needed. If you only getting this loot from greed rolling fair and square, you deserve to keep your shards.
Someone earlier said mining makes a node's worth go from 0 to 10, and you keep that profit. With a DEer, you make the worth go up, but you are robbing the raid of the original worth if they were to roll greed on it and win. That's why I believe that by taking every piece of loot to DE, you are robbing the raid of AT LEAST the vendor sale price of the item. You did the right thing.

Put yourself in the place of the other people in the raid.
If you had been one of them, what would YOU have wanted the enchanter to do? Nothing, because obviously I forgot all about them and thus don't care enough about them to keep them in mind.

The point isn't whether they have forgotten the crystals or not. It's that they
remember
the enchanter who gave them their crystals. I usually have DE responsibilities, and in my not even slightly humble opinion, enchanters who only think about the immediate bottom line are clueless. Enchanting turns you into a dispenser of goodies, and lets you generate good will with a minimum of effort. Maybe you don't think that's important, but while the asshats waste hours of their time trying to find a gullible pug to ninja, you've received multiple invites from those who put you on their friends list.
This is so correct it's full to the brim with win. End of story.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but video game or not, right is right, wrong is wrong. If it's supposed to be up for a roll, I say at the end of the instance/raid, "Okay, everyone that's interested roll for shards."
Now if nobody rolls, that's different, but I can be happy with myself knowing that I informed everyone and they made a decision.
Skulking off with shards because it's easier not to say something is just dishonest and fail.
Good job, OP. Keep it up. People remember honesty and integrity, and you'll get more invites because of it.
