I'd keep them...
When a miner finds a node in an instance or a raid we don't split the ores, when a skinner gets mad in violet hold we don't ask him to split the skins...
They didn't get the enchanting profession, too bad for them...
But that's just my opinion.

I very much disagree. The epic gear is something that everyone in the raid helped obtain, and if there was no enchanter in the raid, people would roll for vendoring, meaning that they would at least get something out of it. An enchanter only makes it more worth in gold, as opposed to a miner / skinner that gains something the raid / group wouldn't get any benefits at all from anyway.
And as a reply to the OP
You don't want them to remember later and you have to say "I sold them all". You would get a reputation as a ninja, you did the right thing.
I agree with this statement.

They won't remember, and even if they do they will have already forgotten your name. I've had the same thing happen to me and walked off with 10 abyss crystals, 90g per on my server. So thank you, anonymous half guild pug, you bought me my warlock's dual spec.

You did the right thing, remember what gose around comes around
However if it was need b4 greed and they dint just pass all the epics to you and you got a item through greed then you could DE it and keep the shard, thats not the case so what you did was right.

The point isn't whether they have forgotten the crystals or not. It's that they
remember
the enchanter who gave them their crystals. I usually have DE responsibilities, and in my not even slightly humble opinion, enchanters who only think about the immediate bottom line are clueless. Enchanting turns you into a dispenser of goodies, and lets you generate good will with a minimum of effort. Maybe you don't think that's important, but while the asshats waste hours of their time trying to find a gullible pug to ninja, you've received multiple invites from those who put you on their friends list.

I always let them roll for any shards that I obtain in any instance, Hc or raid. Winners get their shards handed out to them, and in the occassion they already left the party, HS'd or ported away, I just mail the shards to them. Sometimes I get them back after the mail expires, but mostly I receive a Thank You reply, which quite frankly makes my day xD

a mining or herbing node (wich have btw been completely removed from raids) is completely worthless to all other members,
I agree with everything you say, although ores and herbs maybe usless mats to most, but they're sellable, so I can see that point of view. even if I dont agree with it.
Nice workk giving them back, it's not about what other ppl think of you, it's what you think of you, and in this situation, you can be proud :)
