World/zone drop loot table accuracy
Return to board index
Hello, I'm still fairly new to this site and I was wondering if the loot tables for world/zone drops are accurate. I've been trying to farm a specific green drop and when I look it up it shows all the mobs that it's supposed to drop from, but when I click on several of those mobs it's not listed in their loot table on the site? I'd just buy it from the AH, but apparently there hasn't been one on AH since like march. So basically I'm wondering how I can know for sure which mobs can actually drop the item so don't wast tons of time farming something that won't ever drop what I'm after. Any help is appreciated.
Well, obviously the drop rates here are anecdotal data based on user submissions via the
I've also noticed occasionally that item X states they drop from mob Y, but the item doesn't show up in the mob's loot table. My assumption is that mob loot tables are (intentionally) more likely to dismiss low drop rates, regarding a handful of drops as unreliable data.
In any case, if the item itself lists many different mobs that drop it, don't look at individual mobs, check our their types, zones and level ranges. In almost any case where an item isn't just dropped from a certain mob type (e.g. dragon whelpling from dragons) it's rather the case that
mobs in the mentioned zones and level ranges have a chance to drop this item. You can't really target specific mobs to farm it. Just find a populated area and grind away - and check the Auction House regularly, likely higher chance.
