So recently, I finished the first "War of The Ancients" novel and progressed well into the second one and I began to wonder if any of this "lore" is accountable, or reliable with the game itself. We all know Blizzard isn't exactly the most keen on keeping with their own lore, even mutilating it sometimes. There are many purchasable novels based in the Warcraft universe, as well as comics, manga, and "player" based stories (like in these forums), but my question to you, my good lore keepers and RPers alike, is any of it reliable? Or is it just the author's depiction of the universe, or perhaps making a story out of the universe and it's people/characters?

If if wasn't real lore it wouldn't have a Blizzard logo on the cover.

True that. Blizzard reviews the content of every book that is about to be published and makes sure whatever gets to print is okay with them.

Eh, I just don't think a lot of it makes sense. I mean, Illidan being Rhonin's apprentice...? Waat?

You do realize they went back in time, right?

Think of it as a really long and improved Caverns of Time instance (which would be awesome as hell to play).
Yes, it happened - why else would the actual characters be added to the gameworld, as we know it? :)
I would recommend you reading Day of the Dragon beforehand though, it's set before the triology in terms of the characters time-line. Time-travelling can easily be quite confusing indeed.

I suppose it does make sense, I just can't find it very realistic... oh well. I'll take that recommendation and check it out, once I finish 3 other books. x.x

Well, Rhonin is a huge Mary Sue, the author of War Of The Ancients was very "this char will be epixx" so the actual writing wasn't very good, IMO.
