Hey guys just wondering why the worgens are not able to play as shamans since it would be really cool to play as one. First the racials of worgen rightly fits the shamans and who don't want real wolves as shamans?
Because the twili... urm.. worgen, already took more then enough classes, they don't need more.
And plus I recon since it was the night elves that taught them druid magics, that the worgen have very little ties to the draenei.

Or because the Worgen (that are summoned by the Scythe) are from a completely different world than Azeroth.

Like the Orcs and the Draenei? ... oh wait.

I c wut u did thar!
Well, because of that, one could argue that the Worgen are a bloodthirsty race unlike the Draenei or Orcs (originally, and the Orcs are still pretty honorouble).
Or one could argue that the Worgen (the cursed version, monster at night, human by day) are an aberration to nature, so the spirits would never serve them.

Short answer.
The Dwarves are already getting the shaman class in Cataclysm, and Dwarves>>Worgen.

Secondly, true enough that the Worgen aren't natural in Azeroth, but they are natural where/when they originally came from. Similar to what Gnub said, it would be the same as saying: "the Orcs and Draenei are aberrations to nature, so the spirits would never serve them... oh wait".
How are orcs and draenei aberrations of nature?
O.o
Let's remember which group of Worgen we're talking about here, first of all. We're getting to play the Gilneas Worgen, Humans afflicted with the Worgen curse but retaining their conscious selves. They're not the bloodthirsty Worgen that have the run of Shadowfang Keep, they're just Humans that can turn into wolves.
True, but according to what I've seen and heard of the Worgen starting quest, when you become a monster at night, you give into your bestiality and lose control over yourself. Apparently, Gilneas' physicians develop a potion that allows you to keep control over your transformation now and you are saved.

Why can't humans? Why can't Night Elves? Why can't Gnomes? Why can't Undead? Why can't Blood Elves?
For the exact same reason: doesn't fit in with the lore of their race. No explanation past that is really necessary.

Ppl assumed this of Tauren and the holy light.. now we're have tauren palys who are to big for there bubbles (not that I mind I think its awesome myself).
All blizzard has to do is pull some cheaply written from there backsides and claim its legit, and hoping ppl won't question the past lore.
This is where wow loses a lot of its charm in having all races being able to play all the same classes.

3) Anyway, lorewise, I think it's safe to say that the Worgen learn Druidism from the Night Elves, whom are their "ancient allies", whatever that means. Since Humans are probably the last race to ever get the two nature-respectful classes, and the playable Worgen have strong ties to the Night Elves who can be Druids, there ya go.
Hunters are also a nature-respectful class. Granted, it's not quite the same as druidism or shamanism, but you still have to be "one with nature" to learn how to track and to tame a beast.

Blizzard make the lore, so ofcourse they can claim it's legit. Plus, the lore is changed (read: tuned) all the time anyway, much of which is for the better.
Remember, back in Warcraft I, the only lore was probably "Arrrrh, angry orcs vs. humans - fight!".
