Why Your Religion?

This was your original statement -
I'm still waiting for one of the atheists to demonstrate why quantum mechanics should be any more or less accepted than religion.
Whether or not violence spawns from something totally relevant - if religion brings no real benefit and has no basis in fact then there is no reason to maintain a belief that does nothing but spawn violence.
Yes, I take issue with religion, specifically the Christian religion, is something that encourages those with lesser intellect to remain ignorant of facts (number of verses where Jesus encourage blind faith and discourages fact finding), and I find that to be one of the biggest issues, which again science directly opposes. Science has no real set constants, there is always the chance that some given assumption can be overturned, so it encourages a person to constantly learn how things work, as opposed to assuming things work a certain way or not even caring.
I would say that the violence and ignorance go hand in hand.

This. We don't disbelieve in evolution, we just disbelieve that humans evolved from apes or whatnot.
That's an odd position to take. Humans are a sub-set of apes, and apes are a sub-set of monkeys.
By what method are humans immune to natural selection but all other animals aren't?
Because we believe the humans are chosen of God.

sooooo, how do explain the fossils of pre-humans? (like australopithicus?) did god put em there to test our faith?
also: 33 pages and no (extensive) flaming so far! We deserve a recomendation imo =O
Those aren't apes though. They are prehumans.
Haven't you been to the creation museum? We lived with them, and the dinosaurs (we rode them, and lived in peace in the garden of eden). And unicorns, who were too finicky to get on the ark. Silly drowned unicorns.
I don't know what you are trying to say here.

It is apparant that there is a lot of hate directed at Christianity. I need to know, is it truely hate for Christianity, or is it hate for things that religious people do, some of those people being self professing Christians?
Another way of saying:
Is it the teachings of Christ that bother you, or the unrelated hatred that some people who say they follow those teachings do?

i) Pre-humans. Exactly. God states he created ->HUMANS<- not pre-humans, apes or something like that. He says he created modern humans. Thus the existance of pre-humans defies that.
Who says the prehumans weren't the humans he created?
I mean, Goliath doesn't happen much anymore. But there were countries of people over 9 feet tall a long time ago.
I don't believe that humans can't evolve, just not that they came from apes.

I truly hate christianityis it truely hate for Christianity, or is it hate for things that religious people do The debates here aren't 'hate' towards any religion

Yes it has. He's been saying it all over the thread to cover quite a few of his arguments.

That's his fault. If everyone begins hating on Christianity, then the
debates
are hating. As long as it's him, it's a
single user's
opinion. Sorry for fail wording.
It's fine. My fault too for snappish response.

I'm still trying to figure out what specifically about Christ's teachings are there to hate.

I think the idea, which is proclaimed in the Bible, that it is reasonable, even good, to blindly accept what you are told is at best naive and at worst extremely dangerous. There are a number of other messages in the New Testament I disagree with as well, and don't even get me started on how ludicrous some of the Old Testament "wisdom" is.

They completely contradict the old teachings, and I find it rather unlikely that Jesus was the son of God.

I'm kind of used to non specific judgemental and emotional blanket statements from those who profess to be Christians. I didn't expect one from an atheist.
Perhaps you would do well to be specific, so that I might have the benefit of disputing your claim.

The teachings of the old testament were a way for the Jews to have a relationship with God. They had to do very specific things, like make sacrafices, purify themselves physically, and do a number of rituals just to be able to enter the presence of God. This was while they were waiting for their coming messiah. Once their messiah came, all that suffering the Jews were going through, and all their troubles were going to be done away with, becuase the messiah was going to make the entire world His kingdom.
Well, that did happen, because Christ opened up His kingdom to the entire world, but not how the Jews wanted. They wanted a militant conquest and a one world government for themselves (kind of an aside, but this was what Paul taught against in Romans 10).
Once that plan was fulfilled, the way humans related to God DID change, since the price had been paid with His sacrifice. Ikt is only expected that some things from the old testament would change.
As for Jesus not being the 'messiah', that is a disputed thing also. If you do believe in God, the same God as the Jews, I'd reccommend studying the prophecies that they were given, which outlined who could be the messiah, and find someone who could have fulfilled these prophecies besides Jesus. I don't know of any, and I don't think it would be possible to fulfill them in the future, since the geneiology records were destroyed in 70AD.
