I was wondering, thinking about it, and wanting to know why it's lagging behind in dps?
I was thinking of like, stacking tons of Sp/haste with gear/gems/etc.
Anyone know of a frost mage pulling some crazy numbers? if so I want so see a link.

Because frost is a survival spec, not a full on DPS spec.
It's job is supposed to be keeping stuff away from others while surviving it so others can concentrate on the main target.
Give you 2 examples.
1) The zombie eating beast in Naxx(forget his name right now), while everyone is pounding him I can use frost spec to make sure the zombies never get to him till desecrate.
2) Just recently got called a mage tank by a paladin, we were doing 2 man chillmaw, when it was at 10% health the paladin died for some reason, despite that I finished off chillmaw and took down the 3 guys that drop off of him and was above 50% health when it was all said and done. Simply through ice shield, mana shield, mirror image, Frost Nova, blink and blizzard combos.
Thats why I dual spec, Full Frost for Hunting/Crowd support, and Fireball/TTW for DPS
Cytherea
- Mage - US Undermine
the guy you're thinking of is gluth..
and having frost as an offspec is hella useful... especially if you're running 10m naxx without a hunter... frost mages can kite those zombies just as easily as a hunter can :)

frost is a vialbe spec until you progress further than heroic dungeons (not very far)
frost is good to level up and gear up for naxx, once in naxx forget about it
dual spec maybe it's good for trash but its bad enough that no one wants to let me get mana as it is
then you want to go fire, frostfire, arcane, a mix of those i dont care but stay away from frost

well my guild says i have no problems putting out the numbers that i use in frost so there fine with it. replinsihment does help alot in 10mans and in 25man cause normally my guild runs with to replinsihments a Survival hunter or a ret pally. so they have no problems or anything frost i think still is beastie! Also they pown all naubs! hahahha frost is great tho dps is up there but the damage is mayb not high enough
Hey that's all fine and dandy if it works for you. But what level of raiding are you doing right now? Naxx? Ulduar? Hard modes?
Let's take a few situations here:
Situation #1:
Everybody gears however they want and spec however they want and it ends up in many people being in specs like Frost, which are fun but have lower potential than other DPS specs.
You'll likely get through Naxx 10 and 25 and possibly even parts of Ulduar 10 but likely not very deep into Ulduar 25 and probably not any Hard Modes.
Situation #2:
People gear up optimally and SPEC optimally (FOR THEMSELVES, ignoring raid compliment). This omits Frost as an option for Mages doing DPS. This raiding group will likely be able to clear Naxx 25 and progress Deep into Ulduar 25 doing Hard Modes, but having a difficult time.
Situation #3:
Each player gears up optimally and SPEC optimally (BASED ON RAID COMPLIMENT). This also still omits Frost as an option for mages doing DPS. This raid group will have a better chance at doing Hard Mode fights and completing Ulduar 25 content with relatively more Ease than you would have with "situation #2".
Now, obviously, every raid has a smattering of each of these player types, but I'm fairly certain that almost all END GAME RAIDING guilds doing ALL HARD MODES won't have any frost mages because they simply cannot accept the loss in the DPS that it has relative to Fireball/TTW or even Frostfire.

I'm Frost spec mage and I do some decent damage. 6k dps single target in VOA 25 man is decent I think with the gear that I have. In 10 man Ulduar I do 4-5kdps standard non mass buff fights(example Ignus i do 4.4k dps). Frostbolt/TTW is my main spec and my off spec is Frostfire. I have not tried 25 man Ulduar yet mainly because my guild does this on the weekend and that is the time I spend with my wife.
I try to balance crit and haste with this build due to the massive damage TTW gives and with crits it is 9k-15k per crit. Best part about being a frost mage people going ? What a frost mage beat me in dps? I tend to be at the top or near the top in dps just about every fight. I do admit frostfire is a bit better in some fights(if I'm lagging behind in dps I gladly switch).
Probably the next best question is what kind of dps #s are you looking for to be happy?

Frost gets too little credit, for all the crappy PvP frost mages.
However, the numbers you mention are what I get doing dailies, solo, even excluding 40% ignite damage. Any fight with a gimmick for crit or haste favours fire. Most notorious Hodir and Vezax.
I'm biased to arcane. But also arcane does not make it in Ulduar.

Did you have to necro a thread to brag about that?
not only did he have to necro the thread to brag about it.. he had to CREATE A WOWHEAD ACCOUNT, to necro this thread, to brag about it as his one and only post...

Frost is for ,
1. AoE Destruction
2. Not Meant to own the Meterz
3. Mana and Mages Survival
4. PvP
5. Solo massive mobs
6. To Control mobs such as the Dog in Naxx. Best Spec for that situtaion btw.
7. Finally, to wipe out trash between bosses.
When spec'd and handled correctly. You'll own period.
But AoE'ing I've been pulling easily over 2k deeps on dah meterz. As 3.5 Valorous . Now im 4/5 Gear. =D.
Hope it gives you some insight, or gives you a different view on the path of Frost.
This sums it up. Thread can be closed now.

Please check back shortly I will post pictures from Ulduar, VOA and Naxx where my dps is 4k+ constantly single target. My spec is not deep frost its Frostbolt/TTW and shatter combo is useless in raid. My gear sucks and I do 3k on the target dummy so you might want to rethink your stance on your spec(80 Mage - Vortae (Dentarg-eu)) and that's with the loss of TTW with no slowing abilities. I almost never have a problem with mana due to replenishment buff I give to 10 people. Overwhelming majority of boss fights I'm 4k+dps.
I would do a gear comparison with be imba but currently it seems wowarmory is down. Instead I will use wow heroes with a cashed look-up.
80 Mage - Vortae (Dentarg-eu) score 2104
VS
80 Mage - Frostfrodo (Mok'Nathal-us) score 2204
This means our gear scores are not to far off and my single target dps seems to be higher then yours. So if frost mage single target dps sucks what does that mean for your spec?
