There was a sudden inflation in the retribution population in 3.0, where most of them happened to be idiots.
That's another reason why people don't want retribution paladins.
Anyways, regarding you...
Why do you want haste over ArP?
ArP effects melee, CS, DS.
Haste effects... well, melee.
Also, as for it not existing, there is one cloak with str, crit and haste, and rings can be crit/exp etc.
It just happens that the AP rings are better. It's not ideal, but it works.

The specific problem of Ret is that its melee. For Ony, I've had so many melee unable to actually get hits on her that they're only left with dragonkin during phase 2. Obviously you don't want to have an entire raid of melee dps that fail to hit her in the air so melee is generally S.O.L for that raid unless they're in early. Also, while Command is much better now and you do have Divine Storm, that only hits 4 people at a time. There are way more than 4 whelps at the start to phase 2.
For others its very similar reasons. Range generally make most fights easier. ToC for instance requires range to shoot down ice on Anub. I personally like Ret pallies to come along because they provide replenish for me (Holy Paladin).
You chose a melee DPS class that can be tank or heals, you're going to have to live with people wanting you to be one of those two when they're trying to start raids up.

I made my paladin after they nerfed my hunter. I never really enjoyed being a hunter and after the nerf I lost my ability to this volley everyone on the bridge in AV to top the dps charts.
Then with the introduction of DKs I spazed and quit playing my hunter and rolled a paladin because I couldn't kill them in PvP and everyone was complaining about their OPness (including the dreaded DKs). Apparently every hunter on my server had the same idea and I ran into droves of ex-hunter paladins. I think that was what created the massive inflation of paladins.

Your title makes no sense.
I'm Prot because Pally tanks are awesome
I'm dual spec Ret because I can follow a FCFS rotation and do 6K DPS while still paying attention to raid mechanics, not that hard.
I'm not holy because healing stresses me out, and I rather have someone that likes to play mini games with their grid heal.
Change your post title, your an ass.
Cheers,
Hat

Personally, i keep having the same problem when trying to group.
But i put it down to the fact that people are just too selfish when it comes to loot.
I asked if a guy making a group for VoA10 needed dps, which i knew he did.
His response?
"Not Ret DPS"
Naturally, offended... i asked why that was.
"My friends a ret pala and he's coming"
So his friend, that clearly needs help to gear probably cant even play as a ret paladin, and most likely falls into the circle of idiots that started playing ret as of 3.0
/rage
Having only 1 ret paladin for a VoA10 isn't that bad...
Most raid leaders for VoA try to avoid stacking one class.

Blade, i get refused to groups daily because im Ret.
And its not that i cant play my class, if you can use the FCFS rotation and actually understand what your doing, its really not that hard.
It just seems that players on my server would rather fail an encounter with their friends than invite someone who knows what to do.
Damn str8 id rather fail with friends than win with pugs.
It is a GAME. And playing (winning or losing) it is more fun to play with friends...
Now... don't go assuming guildies=friends... thats another matter entirely.

simple, with ret being "supposedly" OP all the brats, idiots, fotm rerollers, huntards, new players, blood elf lovers, fanboys, and a minute few who knew how to play and knew their class rolled ret all at once flooding the servers almost as bad if not worse than the DK invasion.
then the majority of those, save a few who knew the class and how to play, just sucked and were so downright idiotic that it basically blacklisted the spec and all associated with it
as far as raids go people generally don't want 5 of 1 spec in a raid if they can help it to ease the trouble of looting, ensure the odds are a little better that everyone can walk away with something, and also due to ret being melee as apposed to ranged which means more of a likelihood that a larger portion of the raid will be "standing in the fire" from time to time.
from my personal experience i have encountered a majority of idiotic rets but there're some very good ones although i personally find prots to be more of a headache in that they also have an overwhelming number who've never even considered learning about their class on top of the imbalance between paladin and non paladin tanks

I think the problem is that retribution is a DPS build. When people are assembling pug groups, they don't usually care about the utility of the DPS clas. Probably the order or importance is 1)"PLZ Link Acheivement or Ignore!1" 2) Will this guy roll on the same loot as I? 3)damage output 4) Ranged/Melee.
Personally, i love having a retpally with me, it means a second aura, double paladin buffs, a second cleanser. Not to mention the rockalicious prayer sessions you can have afterward PRAISE THE LIGHT!

This is true, that's what raiding guilds are for imo.
But I was pointing out that you (Nleith) should not be bad-outhing someone else for wanting to get a friend in rather than you, for VoA10, like I said, is perfectly reasonable.
