If I'm really lazy, I just go with Yafnag, and
when I'm not lazy which rarely happens
if I feel a bit more creative, I use "Behind the Name - Random Name Generator" and pick the first letters from one name and put it together with the other.

Ainhin
I just hit "Randomize" until I get one I like. That is where Ainhin came from, and I love it.
Although on my Horde main, I clicked a name I liked, but it was taken, so I altered some of the letters and added a couple, so kind of random, kind of chosen.

Shiverlynn
As far as I'm concerned, I mostly create names with foreign languages or borrow them from my favorite stories.
My main Shiverlynn is simply a Shiver (of pleasure maybe, of excitement, but fear too, whatever passes by your mind at the moment) and Lynn's a real last name.
Arleej is directly taken from a fantasy book where a character named Dreamweaver Elder Arleej is a healer.
My mage Ayanami is an anime name. I thought frost mage would suit the best the original Ayanami.
My holy paladin Esselenwiel comes from the French word
esseulée
which means alone, because when I created her I was feeling really alone. I just had to add an elvish ending to it since she's a blood elf.
The name of my hunter Faendulinn means
white nightingale
in sindarin. She has white hair and her pet is a white owl.
My druid is named Aviel which comes from the Latin
avis
, bird. Needless to say I like the flight form.
I've reserved Lylaï for my future worgen warlock. The French pronunciation for Lylaï is the same as the English
lily
, and
lai
in Russian means to bark or to howl, suits her well since she's a Worgen.
My death knight is named Nhemari. It's a deformation of Nehani, who is a character in the game Guardian's Crusade for PlayStation 1 (vote for the cutiest game ever).
My rogue is Misurys. I got that from the English word
misery
.
I had a tauren druid named Aurahe which comes from taurahe, her mother tongue.
My priest Isilien comes from the in-game priest Isillien.
Djehuty, my Ret paladin, is named after the Egyptian god of justice, better known as Thot. Jehuty is also the name of the main mecha in the Zone of the Enders game series.

Of course, I get whispers all day asking if I was Indian. Apparently, my Hunter's name belongs to some Indian Deity or something.
It's not just that it's the name of a figure of Hindu lore, but it's used in context too, because Arjuno is an archer.

With the exception of one character, all my characters have been named after characters that I've played back when I was into D&D.
That one other character? I hit the randomizer on the character screen and added on an extra letter to get a unique name.

xaratherus
I use a smattering of sources. Typically I try to use a word in a non-English language that seems appropriate to the race in question. For instance, my Dwarves usually have Celtic-inspired names, while my Tauren all have names based on words in various Native American languages.
The exception to the rule are my Draenei; their names all start with X and generally are just made-up. The name "Xaratherus" came to me one night shortly after I got Burning Crusade, as I was falling asleep. I actually got out of bed and made the character immediately. From that point forward all my Draenei have had names beginning with X (Xendavos, my Shaman and Xionafara, my Priest).

I typically pick things right out of the blue that just sound cool to me or take a latin word that is describing of the class, or even a latin antonymn. For example, the word "church" in latin is Eclesia, so I named my DK that. Evanuia (E-vahn-you-uh) is inspired by the latin word for shadow and is given a female undertone (The "ia") which to me means She Shadow and the name went to my rogue.

A few of my toons are named after cartoon characters:
Mage - Wilee
DK - Caiote (pronounced "coyote")
Priest - Acmehealz
Shaman - Katiekaboom
Dwarf Pally - Fryertuck
I named my hunter Lulzwut since I was a total huntard when I created him.
