Kinda in the same seat with my dk. Its to late in the expansion to gear up through pve unless you got friends willing to boost you. It will get slightly better when the new 5mans get released and the new badge-farming hysteria starts up again.
There will be loads of pugs for 5man heroic badge farming for a couple of weeks, until then my best advice is to do the few dungeons/raids you can get in on, and pvp for gear. Do Voa, and BGs.

Ive never been outcasted cause of my hunter ;p it also helps I can pull over 3k dps with my current gear though. DKs though get a bad rep because well alot of retards dont know how to play them, for every 5 @#$%ty DKs you probably get 1 good one. But to the OP, if you arent specced for frost to tank, or atleast have a good knowledge of blood spec tanking then do so, once you do that farm ToC, get enough champion seals in the argent tourny to buy either 2 of the 1h +def weaps or the 2h weap. that will put you in good standing on youll be on your way. Oh and you gotta prove your good when your friends wont carry you through everything

It will get easier next patch. All 5mans will give triumph tokens. LFD will match-up groups across the battlegroup.
The triumph tokens give 5/5 teir 9, not just two.
until then just try to join/start groups for any and every heroic for conquest badges. They can also be downgraded for valor and heroism tokens.

Two months ago i dinged 80 on my dk for the first time and i couldnt bee any happier. The guild i was in said that once i hit 80 we will def help you out with gear since everyone in the guild is overgeared for the level 80 dungeons and all seemed well. But of coarse not of that happened and i was just left on my own. Trying to pick up pugs is hard enough for a fresh dinged 80 dk but now i am guildless cause they decided to split into a raiding guild and no one to help me out to even get started with gear. What do i do when no one will help me out and just outcast me cause of my class?
I guess I am a bit speechless as to why other people are responsible for getting you geared up. I have 3 80's and all of them were solo even through the instances. Even in our guild we tell guildies it is their responsibility to get themselves into heroics. Of course we try as a guild to run with guildes but we all know how that works some times.
Every class is viable in any situation and it is your skill not the gear that sets this apart. Of course if you are a tank spec it may take a bit longer. If your a DPS class just park your self into LFG or the channel for it and watch for people looking for DPS. Learn to be a better player by running heroics. They are really not that hard. If you get into a group and your DPS is obviously suffering - just state you are gearing yourself up.
Again having people running through places to get gear for you is just wrong wrong wrong. Do it yourself and learn your class.

So true.
I leveled a DK because I've been told DK tanking is harder than other tanking classes'. While this is kinda true (basically because of the lack of block value of any kind and numbers, you have to keep a bit slower pace in dungeons, trying to not pull more than a few mobs at a time or you will be anihillated in seconds), the tough part is that because there are no 2H tanking weapons whatsoever with Def rating, and because u can't carry a shield (for even more def rating) , a fresh DK tank has very low HP. I had about 24k, no buffs... And even if you get invited to a PUG, the moment they see your HP is the moment they kick u :) You just gotta live with it... Even after I got all crafted/BoE/badge gear I had like 35k HP, no buffs, which is kinda low, with not so high avoidance too... During some dungeons I even got asked if I was DEF capped because of the spiky damage (if you don't dodge the hit, you eat it, whereas my pally has about 1900 block...saving my a** many times).
TL;DR : Your best bet is BGs, go there. You will be killed a LOT of times but eventually you can and will get full Deadly Gladiator stuff. And when 3.3 hits , you will be able to deal a nice dmg as a DPS in pugs to get your tokens for T9. My 2c.
As for me, I returned to my pally ^^. Tough tank is a tough tank, that is :)
P.S. sorry about the spelling, I really need some sleep :P

Run heroics. Whoever said "it's too late in the expansion to get geared" is wrong. Heroics will get you hit capped, def capped, or get you to whatever else cap it is your role needs to be to raid. If you can't get in as dps, then you have the option to tank instead. But gearing up as dps is not exactly very hard either, just takes more time.

Death Knights generally have a bad stigma attached to them due to their class's popularity. Players of all skill levels were keen to roll a DK when it first came out, leading to a similar situation to the Hunter class, which dropped in esteem because inept players were rolling it "becuz it's epic and OP".

I just don't get this mentality that the OP has. What the hell where you doing the from 58 to 80? Why weren't you running every normal instance gearing up? It seems like everyone thinks level 1 to 80 regular dungeons don't exist.
If you feel like doing something for yourself for once do every single instance in Northrend and gear yourself from that. Then do regular TOC over and over till you have every good piece from there. Then do H Toc. Then once you've done all of this you will feel awesome about yourself.
